Maybe not as good as this deal,

but then again, this one isn't a haggled price. Almost succumbed to upgradeitus but nonetheless a good price for a 3TB simple NAS.

For those wondering how this drive is different from a normal external drive: My Book Live
This is the "Live" version. It has an ethernet port for network sharing
What happened to $150 3TB drives usb 3.0? I can't find those deals anymore :(
This isn't your standard external hard drive. it is a network drive that is connected to your adsl router which allows for all files to be shared over a network without needing a pc to be turned on. also allows for simple NAS features such as PC backup, bittorrent, file downloads from sharing websites such as rapidshare, etc, and remote access from when you're away from your home network, again, without need of a pc to be on to do all this (although of course the processes would need to be accessed through a PC, or phone for example to begin). Great for anyone with lots of media to share without wanting to leave their PC turned on all the time.
Thanks for explaining.
Seen a few deals on amazon us for the 3tb seagate. Reviews put me off buying one though. WD would be slightly more expensive.
Just a heads up for anyone looking for an internal drive… WD recently released their 'red' series NAS drives. Slots in between green and black models. Extra warranty and vibration resistant (important for those running multiple drives). I picked up 2 a few days ago… very nice, and not much more than the green version. I know different products, but for the same money I'd rather an internal red than an external live. Plus vote for a good price on the aboev though, as it is a good price.
cheers :) and well done on the background work too
