    • I bought from that deal and can confirm it sounds great for the price.

No HDMI, therefore no CEC - for those wondering

This should make it suitable for… no one.

Not worth it - TV speaker genuinely sounds better, particularly for dialogue heavy shows. The bass is heavy but that's about the only positive. 2 Channels is not enough for a soundbar.

      Which TV do you have?

      • Hisense A7HAU

Is there such a thing as a soundbar for under $300 that is acutually good value for money?

Kinda just been making do with tv speakers but always have issue for dialogue heavy shows.
Not too concerned about big bass etc.

I bought this recently to go with a Samsung Frame TV in our living area and, for the price, I'm really happy

Obviously doesn't compare to a proper 5.1 or high end soundbar but it gets decently loud and there is a bit of bass from the sub. Has HDMI CEC which seems to work fine. Most importantly for me, I find the sound much more 'pleasent' than the TV speakers, which get a bit harsh and grating when you crank the volume to try and make out the dialogue

      • Thanks mate will suss it - It's going to be used with a hisense tv, so that's a nice bonus.

I have the Yamaha YAS-108 and I thought it was a great value soundbar. The current similar model (actually better than the one I have) is ATS-1090 which is currently selling for $199 at Amazon. Plus you have the option to add an extra subwoofer later :)

      • Thanks JB, yeah that was the other one I saw too, got heaps of upvotes when it was like $229 so got me wondering.

      • I have the older model of that, connected to a sub. It sounds pretty good, especially considering the price

    • I'm chasing similar too - although big bass would be nice!

    • I looked a few years ago and couldn't find anything, so instead I went with bookshelf speakers. Edifier R1850DB was my choice for a sale at the time and they've performed excellently for the price.

      • How’s dialogue on these? That’s one of my main concern.

        • +1

Only times I've had problem with dialogue has been that special type of Hollywood movie where the dialogue is set way down in the mix. All TV shows and other movies have had no problems.
This is receiving optical audio out from the TV, after receiving sound from HDMI on a console.

  • Are there any good deals on 3.1 channels sound bars?

  • Can it use for the desktop?
