  • Looks good assuming can find stock

Be patient, and they will soon appear at garage sales and verge collections.

      • Generally for equal to or more than RRP I've noticed

    • +15

Yeah. The weight of an average ozb alone is close to half this. Then you add the weight they are going to try and lift and this will topple like a house of cards.

      • +20

its a pull-up\ Squat rack , Both are done separately .
unless u r pulling yourself while squatting i doubt you can really pass 300kg. :)

Jokes apart- i have one from older sales- Its stable and strong . I only squat 120 Max .

Good enough for a home gym and wiht an additional bench can be used for a lot more- Add a pulley \cable and you are almost all set,

Note- May not be high enough for taller folks

        .

        • What is the maximum body height in your opinion?

        • +1

Can confirm it's stable and I was squatting 205kg on mine before I sold it

      • +23

If the average ozbargainer does a pull up with 150kg of weights strapped to them I feel very inadequate.

        • +10

Does the weight of expectation count?

          -gen Z

      • +1

        What do you mean?
You're either lifting your bodyweight, or the rack is there to catch whatever you're squatting.
Don't think I've ever seen someone do a pull up with a 150kg barbell over their shoulders

    • +23

Honestly if you are even tickling the toes of 300kg you should be in a gym where there's proper floor coverings and emergency assistance anyway

    • +5

I don't know what exercises you are doing to be putting around 300kg on this. It's a basic squat/pullup rack.

If you're capable of lifting anywhere near that, you should be looking way way past this.

    • +6

If you're squatting anywhere close to 300kg, you'd easily be one of the top 5 powerlifters in Australia.

      https://powerliftingaustralia.com/records/

      • -8

Ahh yes because 100% of powerlifters compete in PA…

    • +4

If you're squatting 300kgs you wouldn't be interested in this rack.

It'll be fine for anything up to 150-200kgs which is very, very decent lift for anyone, especially for reps.

  • Be mindful of the height and make sure you have clearance

    • +2

Instructions unclear. It don't fit in the kids cubby house.

      • +4

It would make a better kids cubby house.. just put a blankie over it

  • +12

Yeah I have one from a previous sale. I squat 160kg of it and never felt unsafe. Do a lot of pull-ups etc as well. Is really handy because of the smaller footprint.

Because of this the support bars are very short - so you need to be precise with your positioning when squatting. It would be really easy to fail, and actually miss the rack.

And completely second adding a pulley system and a bench - add some cheap Bowflex dumbbells and youre pretty much set for all your major lifts and accessory movements!

    • +1

"Because of this the support bars are very short - so you need to be precise with your positioning when squatting. It would be really easy to fail, and actually miss the rack"
I agree with this, so I try and be as far 'in' as possible. the gap between uprights is 370mm and the resting points for the bar are around 100 leaving a less than 300mm window
do people who fail normally fall forward or backward? I've felt myself lean forward at times which would be ok
      .

      • Oh that gap is tiny… As long as a ruler. Needs to be 1m at least!

    • I have this whole setup mentioned and I agree with everything, especially the support bars being short.

  • +7

Very wide spacing between holes. That would make it hard for fine adjustments for certain exercises like a bench press.

    • +5

Yes right on that - I actually prop my bench up to get the right height when benching!

    • excuse me sir, I'm confused about what you're talking about.

  • The previous one is better. fewer parts and connections

  • +2

Looks exactly the same as the one rebel is selling

    https://www.rebelsport.com.au/p/celsius-rk1-half-rack-573525…

    • +3

I also bought the ALDI one previously. I think the Rebel one is better designed because the upright supports are one piece rather than two piece. You can see the joints in the ALDI picture. They block the upright position holes and are unfortunately right where I'd want to place the J-Hooks for bench pressing. I also found the quality control on ALDI to be generally poor. I had to drill new holes on one of the ground braces because they were on the wrong plane and the coating on the chinup bar had tiny chips in it. Overall it's robust enough and has served me well during the lockdown period.

  • +8

Spend $100 more and get a robust full cage rack in FB marketplace, many people have bought it during covid now are selling it for cheap. I bought a Force USA with all attachments for $600 best buy ever

    • -2

Should have bought my force rack for sale. I've got one for sale at the moment with every attachment. 200kg of plates. (I sold another 80 separately a whole back).

Its the last of my home gym, that I invested about $15k in during Covid.

    • Force rack is nice… Sounds silly but I ended up preferring the two free standing support style squat rack, better for packing away when not in use.

That said, I only front squat so I can see where I'm racking the bar

    • True I got a smith machine free a few weeks ago. A bit rusted but rust repair galvanised paint and grease from Bunnings made it look good.

  • +3

I also have one from previous sale. Its solid, doesnt move about. I do 120kg squats and its solid. Very stable when doing pullups, good for bench press etc. Im 5.9" and the pullup bar is spot on height for me, if your a tall dude it may not be. Small footprint in the garage is also good and the reason i went half instead of full rack. i got mine as runout for $99 a few sales ago, one if the best bits of home gym kit ive purchased.

  • For 95% of the people buying this, it will probably end up on FB marketplace after a few uses.

    For the remaining 5%, bargain.

  • +2

You can way better units on facebook market for not much more. I bought one a year ago and it's awesome. Between me and the mrs it gets used every day of the week. We were spending about 40 a week on gym memberships before that so it paid for itself in about 6 months. Unreal purchase.

  • +1

It's not that most people can't lift over 300kg and obviously few people are doing 1rm. These are maximum loadings. These are cheap Chinese steel with cheap fixings. I wouldn't trust it with anything over 150 kg.

If you are getting this I would bolt it down for sure.

I love Aldi stuff, but not this.

  • +3

300kg rating is a static load. Not the same as failing a 200kg squat and actrually needing those safeties

  • +1

looks like a good clothes rack

  • +4

Plenty of cheap options from F45 liquidation coming up!

    • +1

      Where?

      • Yes please post as a deal if possible :)

      • look on facebook/gumtree
There's listings for the Sydney region selling all their equipment for cheap as hell

    • I have never seen a power rack in an F45 just walking past looking through the window of scam..

  • Does anyone know if it can it be used outdoors? Weather resistant?

  • These were selling for like 600 during pandemic lol

    • Well the worst is over so no one buying it for $600 no more.

  • Got the red and black $199 one from the 2020 deal, sits outside in the rain, still doing great.
The chrome looking bits and bolts have some surface rust, but that's purely aesthetic, painted items are like new.
Don't rack more than 100kg these days and it does absolutely fine.
Recommend slapping some gorilla tape on bits you'll be placing the bar on for a bit of dampening if you wish.
Back in 2020 people lined up and ran in to get their hands on this, but YMMV now in 2023.

  • I've recently sold my 2020 version of this rack
It's a decent unit, but I hated how short the barbell hooks were, it just felt unnerving
You probably could just find some J hooks to suit it, but I changed to squat stands because they suited the setup in my garage better

edit also the older ones didn't have knurling on the pullup bar like this one does
