Seems like a great deal for a 37 piece socket set, $90 saving. Seems there is a fair bit of C&C availability around Sydney, can’t speak for other areas. Also available for delivery.

Seems to be some available in VIC.

Looks like a great kit, I don't need another socket set kit….. already have about 4.

    • +1

Have 5 already …not a joke….but this set looks good to leave in car for emergencies or impromptu diy when visiting friends

      • +2

All mine are already in the car…… its like my mobile tool shop……

        • +5

Have you worked out extra petrol cost for your tools?

    • +15

Think of the extra 10mm socket!

    • +4

I've got plenty of socket sets too…still found a reason to order this on (a tool kit I'm putting together for my son for when he leaves home…I dunno, maybe when he's 40 or something).

      • +6

        The comma, though.

      • +1

You know, Geelong was cheaper than I thought.
Boardwalk on the other hand, pricey but rent makes it worthwhile.

  • +2

This is a great set to leave in the car for break downs. Just bought another for the second car - thanks!

    • 100%. Kept with Jack etc. just needs securing.

      • +1

What if Jack isn't with the car at the time?

        • +3

Oh, he'll be there. He's been skin and bones for quite a while now.

    • +1

For $5 extra bucks should of got it delivered.

      • +2

thanks OP got one i needed these

Took a look at a few of the local stores around me, looks like they’ve been well and truly #ozbargained haha

    • And between cart & PayPal, they went OOS on eBay.

3x via their website, free delivery

  • +1

Only $5 delivery. Better than travelling to Dandenong which was the closest store with stock.

  • good little kit to keep in a car. wont do it all, but might save you a tow/NRMA call.

  • Thanks OP. Grabbed one. I'd guess about $80-100 true value as opposed to RRP. Hard to find equivalent kit elsewhere so its probably some specialty SCA recipe. Which is probably why they procured so many that now they need to discount them hah!

Only downside with this set (current deal) is it really covers the smaller range of sockets.

I was a newb (still am) when I bought mine (the one you link to) and was a little disappointed I didn't get one that spanned a bit further up the spectrum.

      • What is the biggest metric socket the op listed kit goes up to?

        • +2

          13mm by the look
          Other than one 17mm
I feel like I use my 14/15 from another set fairly regularly (more so than a 4/5/6).

        • +2

          Bigger sockets in 12 point…

          Contents:

          1/4 drive Ratchet handle
          1/4 drive Extension: 50 & 150mm
          1/4 drive 6pt Socket: 4 10mm
          1/4 drive 6pt Socket: 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12 & 13mm
          1/2 drive Ratchet handle
          1/2 drive Extension: 75 & 125mm
          1/2 drive Spark Plug Socket: 5/8 & 13/16"
          1/2 drive 12pt Socket: 10-17mm
          1/2 drive 12pt Socket: 3/8, 7/16, 1/2, 9/16, 5/8, 11/16 & 3/4"

    • Yes! I snagged that one too

    • +2

This was such a great buy! Use mine all the time.

  • Bugger had one in stock near me but missed it

    • +1

I did lol, But I already have too many :o

        • +1

          I was weak, I Ordered one posted….

  • Can someone suggest a socket on a budget to open the tyre lug nut, which I can use with my impact driver

    • +3

Use something that's impact rated. You could also just crack it first then use any old socket with the driver to loosen.
Otherwise wait for something like this to come along.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/655813

    • +1

Impact driver might not have enough oomph, if the nuts were tightened well/properly.

I tried my old bosch, and it didn’t stand a chance. I have access to probably 5 different makes/models. One day, I’ll do the test.

    • +1

As per Ulysses31 most domestic and quite a few normal pro models won't undo a lug nut in practice. I've got various models and the only one which I can guarantee to work is a DeWalt DCF899N-XE and that's over $400 for the skin alone.

The sad reality is that most tyre shops tend to over-tighten and then with not being touched for a couple of years a great deal of torque is required to undo.

E.g. - the last tyre shop I went to I specifically asked them to tighten by torque wrench and they did but only after using a HD air impact wrench meaning that were way over-tightened to start with. I watched them do it. I measured the torque when I got home and is 50/60% over spec. That can do damage but it's the "she'll be right" attitude here.

  • Thanks OP - grabbed one from Frankston VIC.

Just went and collected at my local, the lady said “God we just put 6 of these away for C&C”, whoops, my bad 😂

    • Thanks OP! My local had two left and had sold three so far

  • +7

OP you're a bloody legend - I only have a cheap mini socket set that has failed me multiple times, and for whatever reason I've held off upgrading. This deal was the reason I was holding off!!

  • No stock in Perth

  • +1

Bloody sold out everywhere in QlD…
Had to pay for $5 delivery…
    Got ozbargained…lol

  • I already have about 8 socket sets but I bought one anyway ($5 delivery). Never know when I might lose my 8x 10mm sockets and need a 9th.

  • fk, spent 2 minutes thinking about it and sold out. Crappppers, can you give me 120s people!?!

    • +1

that is 1min 59sec too long! Try the go fund me page for ozbargainners who lost out on a bargain.

  • Would Bunnings price match?

    • +3

I doubt that Bunnings will have the exact same kit

      • Ohk. I have almost $200 Bunnings credit from previous purchases but can't find anything worth spending lately. :D

      • +1

Yup. They make it their business to make everything they can different. Screwing their own suppliers. And those poor ones that stood up to them, turned to masters… belly-up

  • +1

Couple stores in regional SA have stock left, that’s about it!

  • -3

    These kits with SAE are a waste of space and weight in my toolbag. I've thrown out stuff that doesn't match metric eg;

    • Wiating for examples…

      • -1

        19mm = 1/2in
        21mm = 9/16in
        10mm = 3/8in

Only keep a very few sockets

        • -1

Not really a socket user, then.

          • @Ulysses31: “Only keep a very few sockets”
Proceeds to show 10 full socket sets

  • Very handy set for tweaking and maintaining your bangbot. Well worth the investment.

    • +3

I'm sure my imagination has misconstrued that sentence.

  • +1

Oh man, OOS? Was really keen on this!

  • +1

At least you get 37 pieces of actual sockets and ratchets. Unlike some 100-piece kits with 40 hex bits and 30 allen keys. :D

  • I don't think Supacheap would restock before the 26th, or would they?

    • +1

      I think they will…

  • 2 shops on sunshine coast still have stock….apparently

  • +1

Just ordered for Melbourne with $5 delivery and it went through

  • +1

New stock levels around, just got at burpengary.

  • Just picked mine up from Auburn. I ordered from eBay, never got any messages that is ready for pickup, I manually checked the order in the app and it says ready for pickup.

  • None in Sydney metro stores, but can be delivered for $5.

The set looks very familiar, now I remember, 223843 was on sale a few years back. I went with 223840, 3/8 instead of 1/2 drive, but all metric set with extra tools, and more importantly includes universal joints.

    • None in Sydney metro stores, but can be delivered for $5.

Delivery has been unavailable since yesterday?

  • Cheers! Grabbed one this morning, used the loyalty credit and got it for $29. Staff member that served me scoffed at the price and grabbed one for himself 👐

  • This is weird. Either here or on SCA I got a spam email with a entry to win a Stanley Socket Set. https://imgur.com/a/HMYvllb Just a heads up
