Vodafone $50 EFTPOS Card Offer on Samsung Phones + $100 Cashback from Buckscoop

540
WHISTLE50

WhistleOut posted this gift voucher offer from Vodafone a few days ago, and it turns out not that "exclusive" anyway. @Merlict mentioned that he "rather have ~$100 cashback from Buckscoop if I was going with Vodafone", and it appears you can use both. Now Buckscoop is claiming "exclusive deal" from Vodafone to give out the same $50 gift voucher + their standard $100 cashback for their members. You get $50 EFTPOS card on Samsung's phone contract plans — $39 and above, 12 months or 24 months.

You need to:

  • Sign up Buckscoop, and use Buckscoop's link to go to Vodafone.com.au
  • Sign up one of the above mobile plans
  • Use coupon code WHISTLE50 at checkout
  • Wait 3-4 months to get both the gift card and cashback

Just to be fair, the same $100 cashback is also available to StartHere Founder level members, however there is no way to sign up to that level now.

Now, the inevitable LiveConnected comparison. Say you manage to get a SGS3 16GB grey-imported for $550 delivered. The overall cost would be:

$550 + $7.99 x 12 + $20 = $665.88 (S plan)
$550 + $11.99 x 12 + $20 = $713.88 (M plan)

For Vodafone:

($39 + $35) x 12 - $100 - $50 = $738 ($39 plan)

Alright. Crap. Still more expensive, and $39 plan is still no comparison to LC's M plan. I guess the only way to make this Buckscoop plan look favourable is buying for business (and claim cashback/gift card personally) when you take away 10% GST amount, where you cannot claim back from ATO for your $550 grey import purchase. So

$550 + ($7.99 x 12 + $20) x 10/11 = $655.35 (LC S plan)
$550 + ($11.99 x 12 + $20) x 10/11 = $698.98 (LC M plan)
($39 + $35) x 12 x 10/11 - $100 - $50 = $657.27 (VF $39 plan + cashback)

Still not much saving + cashback is not always guaranteed (need to be careful how you use the browser), but

  • No upfront cost
  • AU stock phone + AU warranty

Took me a while to write this up & might as well post it…

Yeah. Thought it was a good deal — at least a better deal than the WhistleOut one, who just takes the affiliate commission.

Then after a bit of calculation, hmmm maybe not as good as it seems. Still good to probably smaller set of people though.

      • good deal for Aussie Stock and 2 years warranty compared to oversea stock which will have a maximum of 1 years shop only warranty.

+1 for the effort. Not everyone can come out with such detailed analysis.

    • It is good.

To be fair, WhistleOut's comparison was very good too. But their variation of the deal wasn't (imho).

  • it's already 5 months and haven't received my $100 from buckscoop!

I know it isn't any consolation, but they are legit, I just got paid my $46 from st george offer the other day.

    • yeah took me about 6 months to get mine - have you raised an inquiry with buckscoop yet? That's what I had to do and it eventually came through (just when I had pretty much given up hope)

  • Not bad if you want a cheap Nexus with a basic service. Wish they included a bit more data though

  • Scotty, i would +ve vote this deal if Buckscoop wasnt so much of a hit and miss with the $100.

  • I just got an upgrade on vodafone with a 12mth contract:
    -samsung galaxy s3 32gb
-$65/mth infinite plan (unlimited calls, 2gb data)
    -$24.50/mth handset

    -$10 recurring credit

    total cost = $954

  • I give you a big plus not for the deal but telling people how the two different options weights.

I do want to add the only thing good on signing up to a plan is no upfront cost.

On the bad, Vodafone signal is still a joke even in 850 deployed area, customer service is crap from shop and call centre.

And for those so insist on the "Australia Warranty" you guys obviously have not try to RA a handset from Vodafone. it is absolutely nightmare. In comparison, my mate brought a grey import handset and was getting replacement within 3 to 4 weeks. That is pretty good for an overseas supplier.

See there is this thing you can do with Vodafone. Two of my friends are currently running a competition; who can pay the least over a 24month contract. Both are currently 13 months in, and are yet to pay a cent of the plan. What they do is call every month and winge about the service, threatening moving to Telstra/Optus. They usually cave and offer to deduct the cost of the plan for that month, though sometimes they need a bit more pressure.

With the 5 or more call drops I get a day, I'm considering joining them.

      just my experience…

got a nokia x6 16gb (from 3) little over 2 years ago… and was used by my parent overseas. it started acting funny (software/touch screen not responsive occasionally). i got the phone back just a week and half before the 2yrs period and sent it to the Vodafone service center through a vodafone shop. A week later i got a replacement (picked up from the same shop).

and then i did something silly… tried to unlock the phone through vodafone unlock procedure and managed to block the phone.

so called 3 customer care, they said i should have not tried three times and the correct procedure to unlock the phone was to call them (3 care) since its from 3 and not from Vodafone. And they suggested me to send to unblock nokia (some where in Tas). so called them few days later to check the address before sending it…..

Now its a different story … the unblock facility is only for vodafone and not for 3 customers. So i was forced to migrate to vodafone with just few days left in my contract.

after migration i sent the phone to a new address (menton, vic) and got back a week later unlocked…..

So RA was ok..but customer care was not good at all…… you will get a new story every time you call them…

  • upvoted for effort

  • I got my $200 cashback from buckscoop. It took 3 months but I got it at the end.

    • So does buckscoop actually cashback $100 into your bank account? or is it through vodafone?

      • +1

Through Buckscoop. How the cashback site works is:

        • You click through their link so Vodafone knows Buckscoop is the affiliate.
        • After you signed up with Vodafone, Vodafone will pay the affiliation network 1-2 months later (to ensure transaction is complete and guard against you revoking the contract)
        • Affiliation network will then pay Buckscoop $100 commission 2 months later
        • Buckscoop will then rebate $100 commission back to you at the end of the month

So all up to can take a while (depending on the merchant and affiliation network). I don't think there's anything the cashback sites can do to speed it up.

Yes they deposited $200 into my bank account. And yes again, from vodafone through buckscoop. Vodafone had $200 cashback deal before xmas for 12 and 24 month plans.

    • for OP's research, not so much the deal

i've really tried to like buckscoop, moneybackco etc.. but every time i try to use them, i get screwed. "oh, you've been to the website before, even though you clicked our refferal link, entered our refferal code into the box it wasnt counted as a refferal… we're not paying you".

    • Hey Matt, can you elaborate your situation a bit more? what do you mean when you say "you've been to the website before"??

Just want to get more Info before I sign up.

      • +1

Basically, if you visit Vodafone through Buckscoop but then visit Vodafone through say Whistleout or another site, the last site linking through will get the commission. Additionally, things such as cookie settings on your browser, ad blockers, etc can interfere with getting your referrals. The best thing is to use a clean browser, cookies cleared before using, turn off any ad blocking/cookie shredding plugins, and go from there.

Not sure but I wonder if you can ask Vodafone if there is a referral tracking with your order. I've only done cashback once for Vodafone through moneybackco and received it fine. This was like 4 years ago.

        • Thanks for the explanation, placed my order via Buckscoop already. Hopefully I will get my cash back

  • +1

i recently received cashbacks from buckscoop for opening a st george freedom express account & opening a st george maxisaver account

  • What has happened to you Scotty? So many deals by you today :)

  • beam me up scotty

  • Btw, if u happen to be moving from 3 and out of contract already, but want to keep ur number, probably can give the upgrade team a call to match. That's what I did a couple of days back, as I was thinking to just sign new contract online and port my 3 number later on, but then tried to talk to the upgrade and he agreed to match the cashback offer by giving me $5 recurring credit for 24 month.

  • Why are people upvoting for the 'effort'? If this isn't a deal it should be in the forums.

  • "Just to be fair, the same $100 cashback is also available to StartHere Founder level members, however there is no way to sign up to that level now."

I was actually in the market for a new contract from Vodafone but the best rebate I could see on starthere.com.au was Black level at $75.

Moneybackco still lists it at $100 but redirects me to starthere when I try to log in. I even emailed them asking to confirm the rebate for founder level members but no-one got back to me.

Is there a page that lists all the founder level rebates or are we just the same as black level? If so, then buckscoop is the way to go. Anyone have an idea?

    • On StartHere, White level usually gets 50% of the commission, Black level usually gets 75% of the commission and Founder level usually gets 100% of the commission back. It's usually consistent so you can know how much the affiliation network is paying the cashback sites.

On Buckscoop, it depends on the merchants. On some popular merchants (Vodafone, Dell, etc) they give back 100%. Others it can range between 50% to 75%. Check the rates against StartHere.

      • Awesome, thanks for the reply. Just wondering, does it actually say that about founder level accounts anywhere on starthere or will I just have to click through and process the order first? If there's a risk I might only get $75 or less then I may as well create a buckscoop account.

        • If you already have a StartHere account then it should show your cashback rate after you log in. So if you are on Founder level it should say $100

        • Scotty is Starthere using cookies to track or has the process been improved? i found MoneybackCo a hit and miss.

        • Try clearing cookies before doing a purchase. I have got all of my moneybackco cashbacks.

        • how does clearing cookies help? Is there a limit to cookies or do old cookies affect new ones?
