    How’s kingston’s international warranty?

    • +1

Kingston's SSD warranty here is through the retailer. I would imagine the same for international. So, it will be through Amazon UK.

I try to buy Kingston SSDs from local retailers if possible, but I did buy a NV2 from Amazon UK. Will find out if it blows up within 3 years.

Local warranty, MSY did alright for me. Gave me a full refund (the SSD was 4 years old when it @#!@#). That was before UMart bought MSY.

  • Great price for these drives!

  • Trying to do a build atm. Is this a good alternative compared to Kingston 2TB Internal SSD NV1 M.2? Thanks!

it's pretty much twice as fast

    • +1

Much faster speeds (7000/7300 vs 2100MB/s), higher TBW (2000/1600 vs 480TBW), and longer warranty (5 vs 3 years). All three supposedly use TLC (as opposed to QLC) but that's increasingly hard to validate nowadays. Still, these seem to me like a huge improvement unless the NV1 is significantly cheaper.

This one or Samsung 980 pro?

    • This one is faster with writes, but up to you. Just make sure you update the firmware as soon as you install it into an M.2 slot to prevent the old firmware bugs.

    Thanks for sharing, OP.

Got one to upgrade my PS5 storage.

    • Does it work with the ps5?

The KC3000 is really quick device. However mine overheated and became defective after just 3 uses. There appear to be other anecdotal accounts of this or similar too.

    • any links please

    • I'm running the 1TB version now, it's chugging along at a nice 38 degrees. But my motherboard has a cooler for the drive.

    • Did you buy it from a local retailer or online? How did you go with the warranty replacement? Did you get a replacement KC3000 or a refund?

      • Purchased from Scorptec, was provided with option of a store credit or a refund.

I have a couple of these (renegade bought a few weeks back locally for $298 each) and noticed them running in the 50's when idle in a well cooled case. Temps dropped by ~20c after adding coolers to each.

Personally I would always pay the few $ more to buy drives locally for the warranty alone. $15 more to be covered for any failure locally for a number of years is worth it for me.

    This one or the sn850x?

    • +1

Sn850x and Kingston Renegade read speeds are the same at 7,300MB/s. The Kingston write speeds are a bit better at 7,000MB/s compared to sn850x at 6,300MB/s. Kingston has better endurance.
The sn850x is cheaper at $257 without a heat sink and $289 with a heat sink.

  • Ok this one is good, now if we can pull that price down 15 percent or more

  • +1

Are these not recommended to be used in a laptop without a heat sink? (Obviously heat sinks won't fit most if not all laptops). I am worried the heat it generates would create an oven inside burning itself plus other components of the laptop. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
