$7 cheaper than Amazon Prime's own price, so, nice! And $2 cheaper than Amazon's lowest price over the last year or two according to camel³ (whoops, need to tick 3rd Party New to see that price).

Looks like the 2m is also a bit cheaper than usual. However it's still $11 more than it was for about 6 months last year, so might be better to wait and see if that comes down any lower.

I like the LIFX strips/bulbs for their white colour, as the ones I've had display white, not blue or green tinged, however connecting them to my network lately is starting to be a bit problematic.

EDIT: I guess I should have checked Scorptec's actual site, it's even cheaper there at $59 (and $79 for the 2m) if you've got a store near by and can pick up (delivery from there looks to make it slightly more expensive than Amazon though).

  • How are these powered? Generic USB plug on the end or a custom plug?

Can they be stuck to the back of the TV and powered off the USB port on a TV?

    • Got the older version of these, unless they’ve changed, it connect with an AC adapter. It doesn’t connect via USB unfortunately. It has an adhesive on the strip so you can stick it to flat surfaces.

      • Ok thanks. Means I'd have to put in a power board behind the TV.

How do you currently power your tv

          • @doobey1231: It’s wall mounted and I have a single cable running up through a hole so that there are no cables visible.

  • Thank you! Ordered the light beam + 2m kit direct from Scorptec website. $149 for the beam is definitely bargain.

  • Thanks, got from Scorptec direct and used CashRewards of 0.70%, better than nothing!

  • I have one of these - they are a bit janky but they look nice.
Be VERY careful not to unplug the LED strip connector before you turn off the power. Doing this can fry it, I have had this happen to me and had to get it replaced (JB hifi were good about it).

I'm sure you were the type of kid whose parents told them to wear safety goggles in the sandpit. And finally, your time came, and you can pass on the wisdom to the greater community - not to unplug something because if will… fry it. Safety first (TM), right?
Gosh, we need more people like you in NSW

Out of all my smart home devices including $5 bulbs, LifX is the most prone to disconnection and having to power cycle it. Amazing lumens though.

Maybe it’s because the controller is next to the fridge and it’s not cool with that.

next to the fridge and it’s not cool with that

I see what you did there :):)

  • I use Lifx globes in my home & aside from the expected issues with wifi and associating with Alexa or Google Home, I've had very little trouble with them

I also got JB to price match with no effort and will pick them up this arvo.
