    $12.60 cashback in total (~9.69%)

Im looking at this deal and the fact I have $1000 in gift cards in the drawer next to me still from the Aldi deal… Conflicted

      • +1

guessing you're talking about Amazon, why not load them on to your account?

        • +9

With the way Westpac x Amazon deals nowadays the aim is to get your amazon balance as low as possible and only load up as needed, since you cant part payment with Westpac if your amazon balance is higher than what you’re buying, hence missing out on the WP Cashback.

          • @noelhoi: ah yeah, that is fair enough

          • +2

@noelhoi: The other day I bought something for $400 from amazon AU that I didn't want, then bought the item I wanted on westpac, then cancelled the $400 order. So you can work around it if desperate. Wouldn't buy from a third party seller though..

          • @noelhoi: Isn't the solution to buy $39+ items from wife's Amazon account using Westpac if she doesn't have prime membership and use your own account to load up all amazon gift cards?
I don't want to take rist of order and cancel just to reduce balance to use full charge on Westpac card.

          • @noelhoi: That's good strategy.

          • +6

@noelhoi: During Amazon checkout you can opt to not pay with a GC balance and instead pay the entire amount with a CC.

          • +1

@noelhoi: You've completely lost me with that comment. Why does it matter what your balance is on Amazon?

            • +1

@keejoonc: It doesn't, you just choose to not use gift card balance at the checkout screen.

              • @cook99: It does matter as you'd miss out on further savings by not paying with mostly gift cards. Only need to pay some of the order with the Westpac card - this is the case for both Amazon and eBay.

            • +1

@keejoonc: It only matters if you have Westpac and plan to maximize your net gain.
THIS is an example of what I did to maximize my savings though that is on eBay.
Amazon would not let you part pay with GiftCard balance if you buying something that is lower value than your balance (e.g. you have $100 and you buying $99 item, it will force you to pay either with the GC balance, or CreditCard.
My suggestion was, if you kept the balance low you could replicate what I did on eBay in Amazon, maximizing savings from all fronts. Because true OZBers would have loaded their amazon account with at least 10% discount when they bought the GC. Hope that clear things up 🙏

Note: The “part GC/part Westpac” method only works guaranteed cashback on FULL value of item on Amazon AU and eBay AU only so far

              • +1

@noelhoi: Thought you were talking about this particular deal which is why I didn't follow what you were saying.

                • +1

@keejoonc: I thought it was clear I was replying to @yikes914’s comment 😅

    • And had a bonus 1% off GCs too.

      • +2

I don't think the 1% bonus from paying with cashback balance counts towards the $130 spend for the Westpac bonus.

      • +3

        discount 10.7%

How did you work that out?

10.7% discount means you would be saving $13.91

        130 / 100 * 10.7 = 13.91

        • 13.91% discount… even better… thanks!

      • +4

I hope your job does not involve dealing with numbers….

        • Sometimes 1+1=3

      • +2

When you accuse others of lacking intelligence, you want to be 100% sure you are correct LOL

  • +5

yep 10% is bare minimum for Amazon GC. Dont buy so that SB can dig in to get more discounts from Wastepacket

    • -5

      This is a 10.7% discount

    • Did you forget to count all the other bonuses . My mistake is Wifey hasn't join as well and about to be fixed.

  • Bit odd, had to buy $140 worth for the challenge to successfully track. I think they added the GST or something iffy.

    • Are you sure you didn’t have the “Use Cashback:” slider on?

      • +1

Quite possibly the issue, sometimes forget with these Westpac ones. Cheers.

  • Where is Cashreward?

  • +1

So we have to buy $100 and $30 Amazon gift cards in separate transactions to meet the requirements?

    • +1

      Yes

  • +1

    Thanks Op

  • +2

Should they rename Shopback to Westback ???
    🤣🤣🤣🤣

  • +2

Bought a gift card on both my partners and my Shopback account, both are stuck in pending. Money has been deducted from the account. Ordered over an hour ago. I can’t log a job for 4 days according to Shopback and the challenge won’t confirm. Any one else experiencing this?

    • My 2x Amazon gift cards are also in 'pending' status. I've never had any gift card 'pending' for more than a couple of minutes, this is odd.

      • Are they still pending? Mine is one pending (the highest one). Weird

  • +1

On the edge of being worth or not

    • +3

$130 is too high imo, would jump at $100. This OZMonkey is exercising their options in an attempt to train SB/Westpac.

      • Agreed, $100 with $10 is the limit for me. They are playing around to test the market

    • Really! There no higher % I'm aware of so its a clear fire :) As long as it works .

  • Got $2.6 pending from $130 Amazon gift cards but not the $10 bonus?

How do I contact customer support?

    • Got $2.6 pending from $130 Amazon gift cards but not the $10 bonus?

This bonus will be added to your ShopBack account within 48 hours of making an eligible transaction.

On the other note, I got my $10 bonus after purchasing $100 and $30 separately straight away.

      • I asked the chatbot, given a case number. And saw the $10 pending minutes later.

    • Cashback is not on ex GST amount for GCs?

  • +1

    This Westpac cashback is rubbish.
Ive made purchases with my card many times and received no cashback

    • +3

Can't remember the last time I had any issue with shopback in terms of tracking. Pretty much always works for me. Must be something you are doing.
This is from someone who has lifetime cashback amount close to $1500.

      • Nah there's been a few SB Westpac deals specifically that haven't tracked for many, if not everyone. I've had some that tracked days later as SB were having issues, others I've had to put claims in for no tracking or inaccurate tracking.

  • Hmm. It triggered the completion of the 1% bonus promo (for using shopback balance) even though I did not use my cashback balance.

  • +2

Bit too much of a spend.

  • purchased and tracked

  • Finally tried to apply for a Westpac card. Worst application process… It was just the Flex card. It wanted me to prove finances by logging into my main bank account by giving them the credentials. My mainstream bank wasn't even listed. No option to select Not Listed, so I just chose an old account I use infrequently so was rejected..

  • So I can’t seem to purchase $130 at a time ?I can do 2 transaction ?

    • Whatever adds up to $130

  • So I did one paynent of $100 and another payment of $30. Seems silly we can’t buy 2 cards at the same time

  • The purchased one 30 and one 100 dollar gift card. Cashback tracked but for some reason trying to redeem the 30 gives an Amazon webpage error. Anyone else experienced this?

  • @BargainsGrabber Wrong expiry date - expires today.

    • Thanks, wasn’t aware that the offer was extended

      • It looks it didn't extend, it showed 3 days before expired when it started so today was supposed to be the last day. But the terms and conditions always says it ends 18th Feb. So not sure which one is correct.

  • Expires 23 feb

But when I click shop now in the challenge page, it gets me to an error page.

Will be I still get the cash back if I order 130 dollars worth of Amazon gift cards direct from the gift card page with a Westpac card ?

    • Just did it , it worked. Just wasn’t sure.
