When Do You Apply Antiperspirant?

According to research, the most effective time of day to apply deodorant is at night before going to bed, and it is especially important to apply your antiperspirant at night. Your body temperature is lower and your underarms dryer at this time, so the antiperspirant will have a better chance to work on your skin.

    Never. Deodorant just masks odours.

You want antiperspirants that reduce sweat or perspiration which then reduces odours occuring.

    • Pretty sure that's what op was getting at

OP was using both terms interchangeably but they're not the same thing

I meant antiperspirant. Will edit title and description.

@aznhy01: In that case, it depends on which antiperspirant you use and your personal body/pores/sweat level etc.

I only use L'oreal Thermic Resist which is absolutely fantastic for the warmer climate here and lasts all day and night easily so just once after morning shower.

  • In the morning? Am i doing it wrong

  • I find it takes 2-3 showers to remove 24hr clinical anti-perspirant so just apply in the morning before work.

If not going out I'd rather un-clog my pores.

  • Before bed? Wtf

      His wife demands it.

    When Do You Apply Antiperspirant?

    Before you sweat.

  • Put it on after shower at night before bed.

I like to trade 15 min of sleep in in morning by sacrifice of morning shower.

  • people are making jokes, but technically the "24 hour" antiperspirants are meant to be applied at night. i don't do this, just saying how they're supposedly meant to be used.

  • After drying off

Most essential in the real heartland where everybody needs to sniff 3 cans a day….

  • I'm allergic to dust mites, so I shower twice a day. I apply antiperspirant after each shower.

Believe it or not, dust mites (which live in your bed and carpet and any dust) are attracted to human body odours, especially sweat, which is why I shower at night. If it's a warm night and I sweat a lot while sleeping, it will attract the dust mites, which is why I apply antiperspirant at night.

People who aren't allergic to dust mites won't need to do this. But if you find yourself getting itchy or sneezing in the middle of the night, it's probably dust mites.

  • I don't like odours other than natural in bed - I put it on in the morning and shower it off at night, as does my wife.

  • I'm trying to imagine the smells of some people's bedrooms if they applied that Lynx before bed every night.

    • Except Lynx is not what the question is focused around. Lynx is what teenagers use to mask their BO (badly), not 24 hour anti-perspirant .
