Just a civil duty for people looking at this drive :)

My 1TB was affected and has since been updated. If you get this, check the firmware right away, i would run a full diagnostic scan even if its brand new for sanity sake, then upgrade the firmware.

The latest firmware (5B2QGXA7) mentioned in that article is the same one we were already told to update to over a year ago (13 Jan 2022) to address issues with PS5 and Windows 11.

I'd be surprised if Amazon still had older stock considering it has sold out numerous times last year, but the production date is on the packaging so it's easy to check.

1 for $307.37 or 2 for $584 with the buy 2, save 5% off at Amazon US via AU

    • I prefer Amazon US over Amazon UK, those Amazon UK are a joke, they keep getting the order wrong and sending the incorrect items more frequently than most.

  • Does it need the heatsink or can I remove it?
I dont think it will fit in my Thinkpad with the heatsink on.

      I wouldn't be removing it.

With the number of SSD deals posted the last few weeks just find a different one

    • Think it also comes in 'no heat sink' version, which is actually cheaper.

I have one of these and it works fine, but as others say make sure it's updated when you receive : https://www.theverge.com/2023/2/7/23589116/samsung-ssd-990-9…
