Breville 2 Slice Sandwich Maker $41.30 (Was $59) @ Woolworths

90

I saw this at Woolies today and happened to need a toastie maker. Reviews are mixed. A lot of people complain that the non stick coating comes off. Your mileage may vary.

Deal from two years ago.

Some very bad reviews here.

I used mine today and I can say that it worked fine. No clue whether the nonstick will hold up, but I'll return it if it doesn't. Good luck!

Edit to add: For what it's worth, I'm kicking myself for missing this deal on an original 74 🤦

Nothing against you OP but these are absolute garbage.

Parts of the non-stick layer peels off after just a few uses. So toasties tend to stick to the surface and ends up creating a mess trying to remove them.

    Definitely would not recommend.

The Sunbeam Big Fill toastie makers can be purchased for around the same price or lower when on sale and they are heaps better.

Correct and avoid. Coating comes off very easy. Get the Breville old styled one, it is fantastic.

Same bought it twice and coating comes off. Definitely avoid.

I thought the price was good and bought one. Seemed OK over the weekend. Does seem flimsy.
Hope it isn’t like the experience of others, we got two (one for GF) as we have a coeliac kid.

Only if the heat plate is flat or grill, then you can at least use baking paper as non stick (and avoiding whatever the non-stick coating is), more hygienic and easier clean up.

  • Had mine for over a year. Still holding up well and works great for me. Much better than the Kmart jaffle maker it replaced.

    • Great to hear. The nonstick coating is holding?

  • Are these newly crap or something? I'm still using one that I got in around 2012-2013 and aside from the clip on the front breaking it has been fine. Those reviews all talk about the non stick failing and starting to fleck off on food but for the most part mine is still fine and I don't really run into any of that.

Did they used to be made better?

I picked up a similar Breville on sale from TGG last year and its coating is holding up fine: https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/breville-the-big-one-sandwich… (I butter/Flora the outside of the bread slices and just wipe off the plates afterwards as instructed)

Not really sure what the difference between these models is tbh (size?)
