Need Help with Buying a New PC - Budget below $5000

I have had enough of my current PC. It's been crashing a lot sadKEK, it's a i5 3570k, RX 480, mix DDR3 RAM (can't even open devmgmt.msc to see the specs … ).

Requirement:

I prefer AMD, this one on dea, is it any good?
For GPU something mid-range, I want to play Mech Warrior Online at highest setting (it's at low-medium setting), can connect to between 2-4 monitors. Mainly this will be for general productivity.

Thank you for reading.

EDIT:
I bought my PC second hand nearly 10yrs ago, so I want to squeeze out at least 10yrs with this new PC. Price doesn't matter, but I don't want to spend 5k-10k for bells & whistles (or those annoying RBG lighting) that I'm not gonna need. Curve or flat monitor ?

I decided to go with BPC Technology

Can just clean out the dust, re-paste the CPU and re-install a fresh Windows version and it will run fine ;)

Um, it's going to lead to a rather expensive whole system! What's your total budget?

GPU really just depends on what screen resolution you want to play at:
    In general 1080P - 6700XT/3060Ti, 1440P - 6800XT/3080/4070Ti, 4K - 6950XT/3090Ti/4080/4090

As for a "generic" recommendation, I'd go for something like:

    https://www.bpctech.com.au/product/kp-dreamhackergaming-krak…

Or just wait for the next OZB PCBTech system to be listed ;)

I dont have much time atm, I will do that at some stage. I need a backup PC though…

Right, I havent thought of the screen size, still using 1080p. From windown shopping on ozbargain, I like the idea of 1440P that has extra estate, Im sure the old/odd games that I played would be fine with mid-range GPU even on 4K?

How does PCBTech's warranty measure up ?

  • For 5-6k you can pretty much get the best of the best everything, there are also professional computer builders you can goto and they will do the build for you.

this is my build if money is no object

  • Same boat. Going to wait a few more months to see how the 7950X3D plays out. Will also be going a nvidia GPU this time. Aiming for 64GB DDR5.

It's it's for general productivity any $2k (one recently came with a 3070ti) system will do just fine, not sure if your budget includes monitors etc

    • Im incline to go with this idea, I dont think I needs high end gears. Yes money isnt the issue, however the ozbargainer in me wont let's me spend on un-necessary stuffs.

You can't. What makes PCs obsolete is that new things are invented. Hardware. Software. No matter how much you spend now, and no matter how current state of the art it is, a PC is obsolete when it can't accomadate a couple of generations of new software and hardware ideas.

Well I did with my current PC.

a PC is obsolete when it can't accommodate a couple of generations of new software and hardware ideas.

Yes I understand the concept of planned obsolete.

I will make sure that I squeeze out 10yrs, unless quantum PC becomes mainstream …

Bullocks… There's people still using 4th gen Intel's (my parents included)that have been around for 10 years still working fine, maybe for certain specific software etc but a computer will easily last 10 years I've got a 8th gen Intel that's 5 years old and still plays games on high settings

My last PC lasted me 10 years (2010 to 2020) and it wasn't a top spec build, back then it cost about $1000 I think (tower and parts, not peripherals). Upgraded the GPU once in 2012 but it still performed quite well.

Something like this would be more than enough for even myself, sorry meant to say the 4070ti with similar perf to a 3090 should last you !!

    • I've seen a lot of PCBTech post recently, what so good about them ?

      • +1

They're cheap compared to most retailers and sometimes it's cheaper (or very close in price) to buy a prebuilt then build yourself

You have 5 grand to throw at a PC, but don't want to upgrade for 10 years?!? Hard to complain your PC is slow, when you haven't done anything about it for a decade.

You would have been better off spending $2500 every 5 years.
