And why would you buy this instead of the Coleman Hyperflame Fyreknight with 2x 12000 BTU burners which is often available for under $200 (eg. now, at this vendor)?
Because the Hyperflame Fyreknight has shit heat control, which is probably why it's been constantly on sale everywhere for the last few months. No point having that extra power if you can't turn it down a little.
I know you should need to do this, but low flame control of a Hyperflame can be achieved with one of these https://www.tradeflame.com/torch-extension-hose-kit or plumbing a needle valve into the hose between the gas bottle and burner.
Or you could just buy one that works without having to modify it
@dav3: Coleman have fixed that problem (and yes, I agree it was appalling and shouldn’t have existed in the first place). I didn’t get around to doing the mod before mine was stolen in late 2021. I finally purchased a replacement 2 months ago and the flame can be turned down so low it probably wouldn’t maintain a simmer - I can hold my open palm 20cm above it and not get burnt (kiddies, don’t try this at home :)
@CBR-rocks: When did they fix this problem? What year or model has this fixed?
@Spending2Much: I bought the replacement one on Amazon about 2 months ago. It looks identical AFAICT so I don't know if there's a way to know.
I also read some comments online that it had been fixed.
The one I bought from BCF in January 2021 had the fault but I just hadn't taken the plunge to do the mod.
Yep, out of the box it's annoying. Takes a couple of mins to fix though, almost zero difficulty. End up with reliable, fine control over the flame. yt has how-to's.
Our hyperflame lasted 1 cook then the internals melted. Then again all our Coleman products have lasted 1 use. It's absolute garbage! Coleman Northstar tent lasted 0 uses.
The hyperflame is just too hot, there is no simmer even with the mods which DO void warranty. Coleman confirmed the mods void all warranty.
It's landfill.
Looks like Coleman's answer to the Primus Kinjia. Wonder how heat control compares between the two.
20,000 BTU with great temperature control adjustability
For that price is comes with the gas bottle yeah?
