What Did You Manage to Grab in The DJs Sale?

I received 7 watches today. Yes, the sales are legit. No, they're not pricing errors. If your order was cancelled it was due to the frenzy and inventory issues.

No, I will not sell you my watches, please stop pmming me.

Pics: https://imgur.com/a/6XLk2BO

I have more coming. Surprisingly, none of my orders were cancelled. G Steel in a Baby-G box is a bit weird, but I'll take it. The box underneath is all Uniqlo x Marni.

What did you guys get?

    Humblebrag post?

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/446913/nodes

4 posts in the same day… Surprised they didn't get merged. I guess only 1 front-paged so no one noticed

      • -2

I posted the first one while I was buying. Then posted more as I found them. Next time I'll wait until everything is gone. Cool?

        • You edit the first one and add to it.

It's ok, mods will merge them for you next time if you don't ;)

          • -5

@spackbace: Ok thanks. The mods should've done their job. I'm relatively new here.

            • @rosebank: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:deal_posting_guidelin…

It's also possible to post a deal, mentioning the best offer, and mention ”+ more” in the title, then put details of the other bargains in the same posting (along with direct links to those items too)

If more than one post is made for the same site/store within 24 hours, it may be combined (especially where posts aren't considered bargains or are related sales/products). Moderator discretion applies.

    • No, humblebrag post would be all 20 or so watches labelled with what I paid

      • +3

That would just be brag without the humble then.

        • Sure, I accept that.

      • Hard to see the benefit of 20 watches with both wrists in perpetual motion…

      • +1

I don't think anyone is that impressed by watches in the $100 range.

    have more coming

Front runner for this year's Broden award..not that you actually bought them..but felt the need to announce it..

    • I actually looked up "broden" in the wiki. How does that apply to this post?

The main reason for this post was to show people that DJs sales are legit, and not pricing errors. The showing off is secondary.

      • The main reason for this post was to show people that DJs sales are legit brag

No need..you already had several relevant deal posts at your disposal.

If Broden hadn't announced themselves there would be no meme.

        Still no correlation?

I dunno, did I claim to buy 10 PS3s? Did I buy the majority of the items available? I posted deals, and many people took advantage of the deals.

          So where is the corellation?

          • @rosebank:

did I claim to buy 10

            7+… encouragement 🏆

            Did I buy the majority

Obviously very limited quantity available.. need to announce your achievement.

many people took advantage of the deals.

Same with the PS3 deals way back when..

  • Very aesthetic.
    Proud of ya

  • Mine says otw.

Side track. Does DJ cover return postage?

    • No

      • In that case, does rejecting the parcel on delivery works?

        • +2

Try it out and let us know

    • Dunno, I've always just returned in store.

      • Unfortunately no store around me.

    • Look up the paypal offer - 4 free returns each yr if you pay with them

      • I thought Paypal cancelled that. I think I read it in forums here on ozbargain.

  • Nothing

  • Congratulations

Those are all pretty terrible watches but I guess you're lacking fulfilment and meaning in your life right now, so **well done OP. **

You get a gold star, participation trophy and big boy forum bragging privileges for being OzBargain's most improved member of the month.

We are all so incredibly proud of you and your collection of crappy watches that you will most likely end up flogging on Gumtree in a year's time.

  • With that many watches, are you a human centipede?

    • +3

He can wear those watches on all four limbs. Five if including the dangly one

  • Check out the big brain on Brad!

  • are you going to sell them? honestly dont know how a person can have lots of watches unless the purpose is to resell them.

    • Is the resale value even a lot

  • How many watches in your collection?

  • DJs had a sale? didn't notice….

  • +2

Thought I was on ozsalty.com for a sec.

  • What will you do with them?

Or do you have a large(er) watch collection?

    • I'm more of a whisky guy. I buy watches for fun, and to wear occasionally.

  • +1

Oh that sucks, sorry to hear bro.

Better luck next time I guess.

  • +1

Nothing can impress like a watch from the bargain bin.

  • I just wanted to see the prices of all the G-shocks lol. But I didn't even get to see that because DJ's reverts their prices after OOS.

But probably wouldn't have bought any, unless the Titanium GMW-B5000TVA-1 was on sale for around $150 like the B5000RD-4. The titanium has the metal feel/look with all resin weight on the wrist.

What many of the super serious comments here seem to not realize is some the discounts were pretty damn huge (75% off) like the example I gave above for the all metal Tough Solar + Bluetooth square and the G-Steel you got your hands on for $100.
If you had enough money, were really into watches and had early access you probably would have grabbed a few.

  • Whatever kid ..

  • +2

I've participated in many fashion and watch related forums, where users regularly post "hauls", "wrist checks", "what are you wearing today?", "what did you buy?" etc, and it could get pretty snarky. But this is next level. Within 30 min of posting we've got:

    • getting called a "broden" which I had to look up
    • some dude who has a G-Shock GBX-100 saying all my watches are garbage
    • assumptions that I'll flip the watches
    • very useful sarcastic comments
    • watches are from the bargain bin (sort of true)

I've learnt something today, and that is "don't go into OzB forums". No wonder this place is dead.

    • +1

relax mate. This is the internet, don't take everything into your heart.

      • It's all good. I'll just stick to the deals, and stay out of the "Fashion and Apparel" forum that has a new post every month or so.

        • +3

Here is a tip from what I've seen, since I have been a member slightly longer than you have (only 4 months lol).

Ozb forums likes + Driving/traffic infringement posts + Weird woke posts by users who regularly get banned, I recognized usually these are just reddit/news article reposts which have been worded differently by the user. And I don't think users actually "like" them, but they get a lot of comments. (the last one I remember is a repost of an article about "bars" in Australia who don't want you staring at women or something)
Typical though I guess clickbait news article and reddit reposts get a lot of traffic. And I guess a lot of comments were basically "Ohhhh *insert username is back at it again". Users seemed to really enjoy these kinds of inside jokes.

Ozb forums dislikes - anything else specific, most of the time because it doesn't fit into criteria. Even positive helpful posts seem to largely be ignored with very little or minimal responses. Weirdly I posted a nagging/ranting type forum post and it got more responses than some of the other forum posts I made. I guess because people could relate to it and it was pretty straightforward for them to type up their experience.

          • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: If you want to uncover the real fruitcakes of OzBargain talk about your Tesla and Alienware monitor. I've seen many get triggered if you admit to having either.

            • @Clear: "Alienware monitor."

Maybe not Alienware specific. But why is the trend of monitors going wider and wider lol. Saw that recent Philips superwide monitor post, but didn't want to trigger and upset people so I didn't really share my opinion.

I never understood wanting to have a view like you are looking out of a trench bunker. Give me a 3:2, 16:10 or 16:9 monitor any day of the week I will be happy. I don't need 3 monitors worth of width taking up the entire desk just to use the computer lol.

What about Secretlabs? Does that get a lot of mad responses? Because they have a standing gaming desk which is a steaming pile of shit for $1000+ (it wobbles side to side like crazy).

              • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: This is the deal in question that makes people go salty. Ultrawide are certainly useful if you want to replace 3 screens with 1 or if you're into something like racing or simulations where wider view makes a difference.

                • @Clear: I only read page 28, but I assume the saltiness is because of Dell not honouring the deal? That's understandable. $249 does seem like quite a low price for ultrawide though, usually $900+ aren't they?

                  • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: Combination of some people getting it and most others not. They're $1300-$1800 normally.

                    • @Clear:

Combination of some people getting it and most others not.

Yeah well let me tell you from my experience, buying stuff and having it delivered is nowhere near as "fun" and satisfying as you think it would be. IMO a lot of people are hooked on this buy and buy cycle and it doesn't really fulfill a person no matter what.
So I think most people are just being "salty" to be "salty" and to pass the time, in other words they truly don't care about it that much. But to them seems like a good excuse to be salty at someone.

                      They're $1300-$1800 normally.

Wow ok I was thinking more like $700 to $900, and I think I saw a deal for one which was around $450? (xiaomi I think)

            • @Clear: I'm thinking of getting a Tesla. Please advice 😉

          • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: Yeah nah, I can't see myself posting anything here and getting serious discussion. Unless it's like, "what's up with chesty bonds sizing? what is 20 supposed to mean?"

            • @rosebank: Yeah I mean the traffic infringement posts either go one way or the other. Either people agree, are like all civilized and say "go to court". OR people disagree angrily and punch OP into the ground making them regret they ever shared anything. So I don't really recommend doing it lol.

I dunno though I think a lot of users online in general enjoy being super serious all the time (they don't sound like it but I think they enjoy it), personally I think it would be exhausting but whatever gets their dopamine flowing I guess.

            • @rosebank:

"what's up with chesty bonds sizing? what is 20 supposed to mean?"

              LOL

              And there it is!

              • @[Deactivated]: But seriously, what's up with that? I want my wife-beaters sized like normal clothes.

                • @rosebank: No shame in you still fitting the boys chesty sizes. Think of the $ you'll save for future watch purchases ;)

                  • @[Deactivated]: 20 is actually my size, but I've gained some weight so maybe 22 now

                    • @rosebank: Yeah i recently went from a 14 to a 16

I think we need to start finding better singlets - I actually find them too hot and clingy now.

Someone needs to make a forum on good cotton singlets.

                      • @Fergy1987:

Someone needs to make a forum on good cotton singlets.

                        Well that person ain't me!

Chesty Bonds I find get better with age, when they stretch out a bit, but then you have maybe a couple of years left in them until they're saggy and have holes.

I've been wearing Nike/adidas/Reebok/Puma singlets at home, which are all "DryKnit, EvoKnit" or whatever, but that're all pretty much polyester blends. Very comfortable and you can get them for cheap during sales. There's an adidas sale coming up but their's aren't as good and are kinda shiny, and also short (not good for me). I stick with Puma and Nike mostly. Reebok is ok.

Uniqlo don't do Airism singlets afaik. but even then, it's a polyester blend.

Hard to find cotton singlets these days unfortunately.

    • Within 30 min of posting

      You're welcome.
      Glad to be of service.
Wouldn't want to keep you waiting all day for the celebratory adulation.

Good to have people like you have multiple monitors open to OzB forums to call people broden ASAP! Are you a mod?

        • -1

          R U OK?

          • -4

@randomusername2017: So you're basically a internet janitor without the title and mod privileges. Kinda sad really. Are you okay?

R U OK is a legit charity and do good work. Don't use it as a joke or a pathetic retort.

            • @rosebank: Serious question actually…

Don't see what you're getting so hung up about..

True..I'd best leave the pathetic retorts to the expert.. internet janitor? Self anointed sad trash?

    • I've learnt something today, and that is "don't go into OzB forums". No wonder this place is dead.

No. The lesson to be learned here is threefold:

      • Grow up.
      • Stop being so thin-skinned and sensitive.
      • No one likes Broden-type members nor cares about how many watches you have. This is OzBargain, we all earn +$200K a year and drive C63 AMGs but you don't see me posting pictures of my ride or piles of cash, do you?

This isn't WatchUSeek.com, hence why your post is not being met with critical acclaim like you're accustomed to but rather like the bored ramblings of someone with no life at the moment.

      • -1

No, I think the lesson is the same.
Don't go into OzB forums ∴ don't encounter people like you who tell people to grow up (thanks!), stop being sensitive (sounds like projection, but great advice!), and "broden" whatever that is.

        • …more rose*ank retorts ™️©️…

          • @randomusername2017: Do you follow me around? I've given you the last word in each encounter we've had. I thought I was done with you.

            • @rosebank:

I've learnt something today, and that is "don't go into OzB forums".

              More famous last words?…

              follow me around?

Sorry..don't recall having had the dubious honour of encountering you outside of this thread…please do enlighten

              • @randomusername2017: I started this post, so I'll reply when I get notifications. I don't intend to participate in the forums in the future.

You replied to my comment that had nothing to do with you. Did you get a notification?

  • Good buys!! I am bit of jealous to be honest. I got nothing. I missed out on all the good deals. But good on you, you found the deals ,you snapped them. I hope you enjoy them. Specially those two Tissot 😎

  • +4

OP, disregard the haters, keep posting the watch deals.

    • I don't think the watch deals are the problem though. They are appreciated from what I've seen.

It's just when you share what you bought from the watch deal in forums, the same users react with "I hope you burn in hell" lol.
(Don't ask me why I have NFI)

Edit: By the way I think the universe gave me the answer when I randomly opened another page.
"Algorithmic pricing, psychology, gremlins, etc." lol.

      • +1

It's just when you share what you bought from the watch deal in forums

The thing is, the original posts had only a few active participants, with only 1 post front-paging (depending on your algorithm settings).

This isn't like some huge sale like Boxing Day sales, or Dick Smith games clearance, etc etc. The audience was very slim

By posting a forum post, OP is suddenly addressing more members who really couldn't care less about the watches in question (I'm sure most members had to search to even see wtf sale they were referring to). Many would search the new forums posts regularly, moreso than new deals

Discussion could've easily occurred in the original deal posts, but it comes across like the OP thought this was a bigger deal than it actually was (ie stop pm'ing me to buy them). Easy way to attract negative comments is to post a "look at me" post.

        • +1

"By posting a forum post, OP is suddenly addressing more members who really couldn't care less about the watches in question (I'm sure most members had to search to even see wtf sale they were referring to). "

Yeah well from my perspective even though I missed the sale, I saw every single of those posts when I logged in and scrolled the feed so they did seem front and centre from my perspective. Probably also helps that I have been posting a few watch deals recently myself.

"By posting a forum post, OP is suddenly addressing more members who really couldn't care less about the watches in question (I'm sure most members had to search to even see wtf sale they were referring to). Many would search the new forums posts regularly, moreso than new deals"

Yeah sure, but most of the criticism seems to focus on OP having bad intentions. e.g. flipping or looking down on anyone who didn't manage a big haul. Which I don't think is the case (based on previous interactions, they expressed interest in certain watches and they followed up by actually purchasing them). They were just curious if anyone else managed to score a few.
(if you post what you thought was a genuine awesome deal, wouldn't you be curious if anyone was silently able to score a few bargains?)
Also I think the success of a deal doesn't really give you an idea of how many people actually purchased in my experience. Sometimes deals with barely any upvotes end up sold out, and sometimes a deal can receive many upvotes (like a recent G-shock deal) but I don't think many people actually purchased a $300 watch.

"Discussion could've easily occurred in the original deal posts,"

Yeah I can agree on that. But OP is also still relatively new here, so it's possible they made a misjudgement?

          • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: Fyi use ">" for quoting…

Only one comment referred to reselling, not sure why that's even worth mentioning. Broden references seem more about hauling than anything, and far more comments about the bragging aspect of it

            • @spackbace: I had to look up "broden" as well, but doesn't that refer to buying up stock in bulk so there's none left for others and for the purpose of reselling? At least from what I could find that's what broden meant.

OP even typed their first post for that sale in a rush with something at the bottom like "don't have time to format, they're going quick" so at least he was giving some heads up to be quick.

I think I covered everything in my comment above. Don't think OP is being disingenuous about their motives for buying or posting the photo. As I said they are often on the lookout for certain watches (and I learned as far as watches go, they are always on the "budget" side of things), and likes to save some money doing so. No biggie IMO.

Here's a few. To be clear, I'm keeping all of the watches, except the Tissots which I've said in a comment in another post that I'll give away as gifts.

By posting a forum post, OP is suddenly addressing more members who really couldn't care less about the watches in question (I'm sure most members had to search to even see wtf sale they were referring to). Many would search the new forums posts regularly, moreso than new deals

          (emphasis mine)

I understand this now. Lesson learned.

Don't worry about the haters OP. I got a bunch of these from the sale for my kids:
