Who buys just half a lobster? Its not something you normally eat alone is it?
The discount price is just half the normal price for a whole lobster.
So if you buy two halves there is zero saving, except for the 15 seconds it takes to cut one in half.

    • Who buys just half a lobster?

      Could be @jv :)

      Odd number of people?

It is annoying to cut them in half without a cleaver.

      • Cleaver?! I'd just use a common chef's knife. You must be very skilled to chop them in half with a cleaver!

It's more the weight pushing down to cut the shells. I find a chef knife to light and narrow.

        • With the cleaver I hack them in two
          I pull out what's inside
And I serve it up fried
God, I love little fishes, don't you?

If you're lonely on valentines day, buying half a lobster means you're sharing a meal with a stranger :)

    deal is cray-cray

  • Coles is $10 for a lobster tail. This doesn't seem like much of a deal unless you particularly like the lobster head.

    • I've no idea what size the tails are so hard to make a comparison.
And having the head does make it look more impressive.

    • The heads are great for making soup or stock.

      • Bear in mind that a whole tail is $10, while two halves of a lobster together is $26ish. You could buy 3 whole tail, and use them to make soup which will give you more meat and more shell as well lol. Mathematically speaking of course.

are you comparing the green cheap imported lobsters tails with the WA rock lobster?

Every single comment so far is non conclusive..as a novce in buying lobsters .. is this a good deal or not ?

  • Never wanted to buy lobster outside of a restaurant, until now. Its on sale!

  • think you really need to look at $kg to see if it’s a deal rather than qty of portions ….. 200gm at $13 is about $65kg ….if you get 150 gm ones it’s $86 kg …..is $86kg for frozen lobster a bargain ?
not sure what aldi or coles works out at.
