Good deal if your helicopter doesn't go to Turkey. Think I paid like $28 for the year a few months ago

    • +1

Care to share how you did the deal through Turkey, thought Disney Plus had restrictions to prevent this

    • Helicopter?

    • +4

      laughs in Turkish

    • Is there any way to do that and keep your view history from a genuine account?

    • +1

Yeah same, paid $AUD 27.88 for 12 months

      • -1

        I got for free :)
        Tagging along my sis' account

  • It'd be great if you could use this towards a Disney One Pass!

Anyone else have buffering issues with Disney Plus? I've also Netflix and Prime which have zero issues, however constantly get buffering problems with Disney.

    • No whose your ISP and what DNS server do you use?

      • Exetel

        • Hmm it might be your ISP/RSP

If you know how to change your DNS servers (try the device you're streaming Disney+ on) see if CloudFlare helps

          1.1.1.1
          1.0.0.1

But if it's buffering, then it's probably a network issue. If you're connecting via wifi, and yoir streaming device has a lan port, see if plugging it directly into your router makes a difference. Or if not, try a laptop with a lan port & plug it in directly.

        • Better contact Exetel to solve this problem. Quite a number of posts on Whirlpool forum, search exetel disney plus site:forums.whirlpool.net.au

        • This is the problem. I joined Exetel due to their cheap price and suddenly ended up with speed issues when accessing some of my usual websites.

Within one day, I changed back to my previous provider and all my problems suddenly disappeared. Never again with Exetel, even if they pay me $100 a month to use their services.

No, although I find the initial app startup a bit slow and unresponsive on an Apple TV which is a minor annoyance for the first few seconds. Works fine after that.

      • I use a google tv and it seems to work fine. Also works fine on my Sony android TV. Maybe its an apple tv issue.

        • It’s really just the initial few seconds where it jumps back to the accounts screen and takes 3 or 4 seconds to fade things in. Might be an apple thing or a “me” thing, dunno. Not even sure why it jumps back to that screen at what seems to be 75% of the time as most other apps just stay on the existing account (which Disney also does maybe 25% of the times I use it).

App works fine otherwise and is perfectly responsive, including streaming and I’m really niggling over 3 seconds or so which stands out because everything else is smooth.

    • Yes, i do to it's really bad. I need to stop the movie/show, go back to the Disney+ home page and restart the movie/show for it to work again

      • Yeah, thats what I get too.

    • What ISP are you with?

    • Not buffering for me, but sometimes it feels like the frame rate drops below the standard 24fps and becomes choppy, stutters. I use d plus from Chromecast tv on an LG OLED. I might try the native app and see if changes things.

    • +1

No, Disney Plus is probably the most reliable out of all of them. It's Prime Video I have problems with, it randomly deletes my view history for a day before randomly reappearing. Hard to remember which episode of Everybody Loves Raymond I'm up to when it happens. I think it's the one where Ray and Debra fight over something and everyone is mean to each other.

      • +1

"I think it's the one where Ray and Debra fight over something and everyone is mean to each other."

Doesn't that happen in every episode?

But yea, i find netflix the most reliable with D+ a close second.

        • I always have issues with Stan on my end.

Good find, thanks OP! Price went up from $11.99 on 8-Dec so it seems Aus Post are selling their stock on-hand at the old price

  • Good deal, thanks OP. Anyone know if two of these can be applied at the same time to pay for 2 years at once?

    • +1

Gut feeling is it wouldn't work but happy to let someone try it out :D

    • +1

Nah prob won't work. That defeats their yearly price increase strategy /s

  • Does Wollies also sale the Disney plus (annual subscription) gift card for $120?

  • +3

So Disney gonna keep putting their prices up $20 every year? Most of there crap is old

    • +1

Yeah torrent and Plex should be your buddy , show them

      • +1

Yeah, alot of effort for these deals when you can download basically better quality via a torrent.(for people that do, off course not me)

        • Kodi + Fen + Real Debrid = 👌

    • -1

After the government forced them to have 25% of the library be Australian produced original content they will put it up a lot more. Reality shows are cheap but not that cheap.

      • Sorry mate but it was the other way around - government dropped the caps which was bad for the local film industry and surprise surprise your subscription fees still went up…

        • Damn, that sucks. The reality shows would have been good just to give our camera operators and makeup artists and stuff more work. And people probably would have loved them anyway because people love hot garbage, Disney would have had a few hits.

    • Yep i think disney paid way too much for starwars and marvel so the next 20 years of price hikes are required just to break even…

    🦃🇹🇷

  • +1

Hmmm…having read quite a few articles online saying the same thing, I wonder if these can only be redeemed by someone who hasn't previously had a Disney+ account? It may not let you add a year to an existing subscription.

  • +1

    Is there an expiry date?

It looks like you can't activate two gift cards at once as it's limited to new subscriber only.

But if there's no expiry, you could keep the second card for a year?

  • +1

For new customers only. So try different email address, etc.

    • I had free Disney through Telstra last year and I canceled it prior to ending so would not be charged.
Do I qualify for this as last year was free but regardless if last year was free or not what info again did it ask when signing up,
Was it just email or stuff like phone number etc as I can use other emails if I need to.
I’m thinking of getting it more for the kids and the odd movies for me so $10 ain’t bad

      • I found if you linked your account to telstra there was no way to unlink. Therefore you could only subscribe monthly through your Telstra account and could not use gift cards. I ended up making a brand new account in order to use a 12 month gift card.

        • As it was free through Telstra for 1yr only I did not bother to carry it on.
So obviously I’m no longer using Disney and I take it would be as easy as making a new account without Telstra.
So obviously I could not use the email I used for Telstra so to make a new account what other info do they ask as I have forgotten what it was they ask for.

Really scraping to find anything worth watching lately. I'm reduced to reruns of reruns.

New seasons of decent shows are released once every geological epoch.

    • +2

Yeah I really struggle to find anything worth watching on Disney +, what are others here watching that's okay? Might let my current subscription lapse as it's hard to justify now (for me).

    • All the old Fox movies, like Die Hard, and Die Hard 2. Also Die Hard 3, and Die Hard 4 isn't all that bad. It's Die Hard 5 you should probably skip.

      • But you only watch die hard at Christmas time anyway.
If that is all you watch better renting or buying outright on iTunes or similar, or get an BluRay and not give the mouse as much of your hard earned.

PS, there is a die hard 4 and 5?

        • I dunno, if you're a Star Wars fan and want to watch the new episodes of things as soon as they come out and not wait for a pirated rip that may or may not have captured the HDR properly, then Disney Plus is worth sharing the cost with three friends. I'd recommend watching cleaned up film scans of the original trilogy, but streaming the special editions isn't a bad way to watch if you're lazy.

Yes there's five die hards. 4 is actually okay, good even as far as movies go. 5 is woefully bad.

  • Good deal, but I pay $15 for india yearly subscription . Don't mind extra Bollywood music.

    • +2

$15 is INR 800 or so, Disney+Hotstar is $30 or so for the premium subscription without ads and having 4k stream. So not sure what your $15 one is for

  • Do they let you stack?

Want to get 2-3 years at a time, to head off the inevitable price rises to come. I have 5 months left on my previous 12 month sub.

  • can I buy two of them?

  • Can i buy two and use one next year? as in do they expire?

Disney+ Subscription Gift Card FAQ So you'd have to use one of your alternate email addresses for each new redemption

    • -1

and why would they do that?

  • +1

Almost same price for Apple users if you buy $20 iTunes gift cards at fifteen percent off in Coles until Tuesday

  • +1

I'd rather spend it on Usenet access.
