XFX Radeon RX 7900 XT Speedster MERC 310 20GB Graphics Card $1466 + Delivery ($0 MEL/WA C&C) @ PLE

111

Hey guys first time posting, I've been keeping an eye out for a latest gen card and saw the XFX model on sale, I think it's a decent price for the model considering the cheaper ASRock sits at $1419: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/754626

This is the XT model.

The names GPU manufacturers come up with..

If you are going to spend over a grand, remember the XT is worse perf per dollar than XTX. Don’t do it.

I think at this price even the 4070ti in this deal is slightly better value
It's more than 10% cheaper but less than 10% slower.

And the reality is, today, nvidia still have more features (a lot of the gameworks stuff) as well as simply just better features (dlss and RT is better on nvidia). While nvidia are definitely milking people, so I'd rather buy amd…amd also needs to come to the table and price accordingly. And they're not.

      • The 7900xt is better value and perforamance than the 4070ti. Why have a 3090Ti performing card with only 12gb of vram. good luck running high res modern games. I'd take the 7900xt any day, has 20gb of vram. I have the 7900xtx and the card is really good. performs better than the 4080 in nearly all case and yes I don't use RT, so not worth paying $400-$500 extra for a 4080

True, but it is at least closer right now.
The cheapest XTX I found at Aus vendors is $1749, and the cheapest XT is $1419, making it ~81% of the cost of the XTX, or ~19% cheaper, so closer to what AMD should've set the Price to in the first place.

Can i just ask where you saw that XTX for $1749? Cheapest I can find it reference card for $1789.

        Edit: Nvm, it's PCBYTE.

4070Ti is better buy for similiar performance, lower price, lower power consumption, better driver, DLSS3.0, Cuda etc.

But it has 8 more GB vram!

    • Indeed, and you forgot much better VR performance as well, AMD didn't come to party with pricing this generation

The XTX is better value, I just don't know what they were thinking with the XT.

        • -1

Xtx and xt are both poor cards, unless you want to game 1440p only , no VR and no RT , in which case you might as well get 6080xt , for anything else NVIDIA wins this time around and this is from an AMD fan

I'm confused; You posted this same comment on my linked post in the description above, but it was mostly downvoted there, while here, it's mostly upvoted. I guess the Jury is still out on which card is better value? Idk.

This generation is just depressing. Hopefully 7800xt is reasonably priced but I doubt it.

GPU prices will be like these for a while since crypto-mining greed and COVID-19 outbreak, don't expect high-end GPU prices to be anywhere near $500 again.

It's now no longer due to either. But nvidia/amd got used to making crazy prices, people got used to paying crazy prices. So here we are.

The recent price drop on the Intel arc 750 is very promising however.

        • The problem with the Intel range is the drivers are still shit, and will likely to be that case for the next couple of years. Nvidia and AMD aren't going to drop margins on their mid-range to high-end cards anytime soon. They're in a cozy relationship with each other.

          • @Tyrx: The very recent driver updates seem great at least from reviews. A mate has got one of the Intel's, so we'll see how good they are haha

            • @incipient: I'm not really fussed about the performance, it's more about stability. Playing anything other than the latest AAA releases is a roll of the dice. That's not trashing Intel or anything, but rather acknowledging that driver updates in generally are messy and contain lots of bandaid fixes, which Nvidia and AMD have had decades to do.

Only way prices drop is for people to not buy them. Eventually they have to drop.

        • Yes but that also means people who have been hodling and playing with their 3-5 year old GPU, now have to stretch them out for another 1-2 more years? Bet many of the modern AAA games will play like crap by then.

@edfoo: There was plenty of last gen cards around at the 3060/6600 to 3080/6800xt level recently which would be enough for those people holding out that long.

            • @Casomme: Last gen GPU prices haven't dropped much for the past 6 months.

    • It will be reasonably priced a year after it's released, because idiots keep paying insanely high initial asking prices.

      • The 30 series and Navi 21 aren't "reasonably priced" 2 years after release

  • any deal on rx 6800 xt

  • Glad I bought an Intel Arc A770 16GB. Not the fastest, but sure as hell better value!
