All time low for AMD's top tier APU. I feel the 5600G deals a few months ago provided better performance per dollar but posted for anyone specifically interested in the 8 core 5700G with Vega 8 iGPU

  • this is going to be that amazon paperback book hack of 2023 lol

Would there be a noticeable performance increase going from a 3600 with a 2060super?

    • +1

      Nope.

The difference is smaller than expected because they cut the cache in half.

Given you have a video card, the main selling point of this processor is lost. That is, this 5700G and it's little brother the 5600G have the best performing integrated graphics available today, but their performance as a pure CPU is worse than their non-G counterparts (smaller cache, no PCI-E 4.0 support).

For an upgrade from a 3600, you would be looking at a 5600, 5700X or 5800X3D.

agree. get the 5600. or 5700x if you can stretch the wallet a bit.

5800x3d if you have cash to splash.

      • I appreciate you!

    • No, chances are that you're already gpu limited even at 1080p since that's my setup as well.

Bear in mind that with Ryzen 5xxx series APU, you only get PCIe gen 3 support (so no PCIe gen 4 SSD support). If you believe PCIe gen 4 x4 SSDs are overkill anyway, then getting a Ryzen 5xxx series APU is fine. If you have a motherboard that does PCI Bifurcation, in theory, you can use the x16 slot and have 3 PCIe gen 3 x4 SSDs all use CPU PCIe gen 3 lanes.

Crap, was looking for a cheap Rx card to finally upgrade my 3400g…but might have to resort to this now. Thanks op

Would there be a noticeable performance increase going from a paperback to a hardback novel?

    • More future proof

  • Looks like Ozbargainers truly have made extensive use of this across the past few deals, the book is showing just 1 left in stock. Any other low value items that qualify? Can't sort items by value unfortunately on the promo page. I've found this activity book for $9.42 as a backup https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B08734ZD76?m=A4XRJ8S0WXSO0&ref=… at the moment

Kenneth E. Hagin is gonna be bewildered like Rick Astley or the developers of Cubic Ninja.

  • I run overwatch 2 on this. Lowest graphics tho.

  • Any thoughts on this for an ITX Plex server / NAS setup?

    • Plex has yet to update their server software to use hardware acceleration (a plex pass feature) on either AMD or apple silicon as far as I know. Only intel chips benefit from it. This chip might be powerful enough to brute force any difficult encodes anyway, it’s just annoying to know that there is performance being left on the table because plex is too busy sitting on its thumb and rotating.
