Cheapest I have ever seen it and the historical low according to 3x camels.
Saw it hovering around $158 for awhile which shows on 3x camels.
Ignore the crossed out $249 RRP, it's currently $199 retail at Sony AU.

TLDR:
+ Good sound but a little boomy with bass, good battery life.
- Not much L/R separation, volume doesn't get extremely loud and compression at high volume.
This is the local Australian model and Amazon AU stock.
Released in July 2022 last year so quite a new model.
Might look big in the pictures but it's about as big as your typical cylindrical shape Bluetooth speaker, 24cm tall and 12x12cm in thickness.
It is a front firing speaker design, like Anker/JBL models. Not 360 degree speaker design like UE Boom models.
Scathing review complains of "muffled sound" but YMMV. Not sure if it's a case of user error (Ambient sound sensing mode on?) or Sony over did the waterproofing/dustproofing but it pretty much maxes out on the IP scale which might be the cause of muffled sound. https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0201/8228/files/IP_rating_…
As a comparison a bluetooth speaker of similar dimensions that I have is IP55. And while it's not "super clear" in sound (pretty normal for bluetooth TBH) I definitely wouldn't call it sounding muffled.
Specs:
- 16 hour battery life (With in App Battery care mode, which reduces battery life slightly but increases the number of charge cycles for the battery's lifetime by only charging to 90%)
- Bluetooth 5.2 (Supported codecs: SBC, AAC, LDAC)
- Weight: 800g
- Speakers : Two Full Range 42mm x 51mm, Dual passive radiators
- USB-C charging port (quick charge function allows 70 minutes Play from 10 minutes Charge)
- Sony Music Centre App (control EQ, STAMINA mode, Battery saver mode etc)
- Microphone w/ echo cancelling technology
- Party Connect (you can combine up to 100 compatible wireless speakers with BLUETOOTH technology)
- Line shaped diffuser distributes music evenly (Inspired by the audio systems used at professional concert, *in vertical position distributes the sound energy evenly, across a wide sound front, to better fill your space with audio.)
*Sony recommends you only charge it with a 5V/1.5A output or higher USB charger. Using a slower charger may lead to overheating and damaging the speaker (also happened to one of my bluetooth speakers when I accidentally charged it for 10 mins with a slow charger the speaker got hot to touch).
