Is this a good deal just for the knives? Because the block looks like a guessing game
No, the knives are soft rubbish. Buy one or two GOOD knives, not this
These knives are good but this isn’t really a deal. These knives are always selling at this price.
No they’re not, they’re made of very soft steel so basically no better than something you buy at Woolies.
@playaz91: Looking further, not saying the metal type seems concerning. Just Japanese Steel
@brocky2006: Japanese Steel, Made in China.
@playaz91: Having used them I disagree with your comment.
@playaz91: I disagree with this sentiment. I have a bunch of Furi knives and are much better than the average cheap knives you can buy from woolies, aldi, kmart, or similar.
I sharpen my knives myself and notice you can get a much better edge on these compared to the cheaper stuff. I don't think they hold an edge for very long though.
I assume with a higher spend you can get something better. But I think these are the right price point for a certain user.
Not sure about the usual price of this particular set, so no comment on this deal.
They are designed to be soft so that it is far easier to get a fine edge on them. I own several of these and, if you know how to sharpen a knife properly, they are excellent for their intended use. The boning and filleting knifes can easily be kept razor sharp and the cooks knife is a terrific all rounder.
If they could afford a higher rockwell steel, harden the steel, and use something other than surgical steel the Japanese wouldnt wven use for a scalpel, they probably would.. theyre definitely better than a woolies or big w knife but that really says nothing.
@thelegbonesconnected: Gotta love the "if you know how to sharpen a knife properly" stuff - if people knew how to select a good knife properly, they'd not be buying these in the first place.
@mickeyjuiceman: Someone commented below that the handles are underbalanced to account for the blade wearing down with use/sharpening too.. what a feature
@thelegbonesconnected: FORWARD THINKING!
I don't think you have used these knives
Wish it had the meat cleaver :(
Absolutely.
I got this set and the cleaver is what I mainly use. Got it on special at Myers at a fraction of the RRP.

I got this knife block to put in it.

You need to unscrew the metal edge and cut a little bit out of the plastic to get the cleaver to fit. Then you reassemble. Works well.

I have gotten one replaced under warranty, as my kit included steak knives and I snapped one.
I also have gotten the knives sharpened a couple of times with no problem.
Would I buy them again? Yes. I love the way they feel in my hand and that it's a single piece. I do wish I had a magnetic knife block.
I have the furi knives from a previous Myer sale, the blades are "ok" but the hands feel light and hollow which I'm not a fan of.
They are very well balanced, if you hold one in a cutting position and think about it. This is why some of their knives are hollow handled, some are not … the pro range are designed for users to remove weight in the handle in order to keep them balanced as the blade wears down from use/sharpening.
Love these knives. Best bang for buck.

Anyone own this, interested to know how you would know what knife you are picking from the block?
