$480 for a gaming headset is ridiculous

    • A50s are similarly priced. If you want the best of the best, then you have to pay more.

      • What's the best of the best?

        • The new audeze Maxwell fits here alongside this. Will have to see how these two duke it out.

an iem completes the same task at a fraction of the price.

        • Perspective isn't one of your strong points, is it?
While I agree it is stupid expensive, there is a market for it, and if people want the best wireless this or that, then they have to pay for diminishing returns. Same for a watch, same for a car.

        • Do you want to explain why people get Airpod pros when they can get a Samsung or Pixel buds for the fraction of the price?

          • @thousandsuns: Because the transparency mode, mic quality, and ANC performance is better on airpods pros. Not to mention they have full functionality without an app on iOS and Macos devices.

I have an s21, but I still use airpods pro because it's better.

@zjz93: There you go. Quality difference is the reason why this thing is so expensive. You've answered your own question.

              • @thousandsuns: An iem even half the price of this would deliver superior or matching performance in terms of imaging sounds in games.

A microphone cable attachment is a mere $20 and if wireless functionality is needed, Bluetooth adapters or portable amplifiers equipped with Aptx low latency can be had too.

    • Yeah I agree , I paid big for artics pro with DAC and ended up going back to cloud 2 wireless , much better set, heaps cheaper

Pretty decent price, paid $560 for these a couple of months ago.

Love the interchangeable batteries it comes with, just hotswap and your good to go!

Can say the ear muffs do get a bit warm after a couple of hours

    • Wanted to come and second this. I have the Pros as well, great headsets, definitely recommend to anyone that have liked the Arctis series.

Also, yes the leather ear muffs just a little warm, but you get use to it. Wished they had the fabric versions of the ear muffs.

  • I bought these around Christmas time. I'm really enjoying them but they do take a bit of time to setup with Sonar if you're using them on PC.
The one thing that I don't like is if you turn them off, the blue tooth connection stays on. You have to turn that off separately if you have your phone connected to them.

  • Anyone recommend something cheaper, perhaps under 150? I heard to not get gaming headphones but there's too many choices so idk what to get.

Hyper X Cloud 2 alphas , best set , wireless

      • đź‘Ť The HyperX Cloud 2 Alpha are about $300.

        HyperX headset info - https://www.rtings.com/headphones/reviews/hyperx

Another option may be the Cloud Core Wireless if you're really after wireless.

Also check out SteelSeries, Razer, Corsair, Logitech, Turtle Beach.

        rtings.com provide some great reviews.

I have the wired HyperX Cloud Alpha and use an Astro Mixamp for Xbox gaming.

        • Is the cloud alpha a good headset without the mixamp? I was looking at it and saw it for $127 at Harvey Norman and was considering it.

          • @JamYomb: Yep, although they have a higher impedance so if you like fairly loud volumes then something like a controller may not be able to drive it loud enough. There are lower impedance versions of HyperX (such as CloudX) specifically for plugging into controllers.

That is a decent price at HN - maybe post it as a deal?

            • @ShortyX: I'll be plugging into a PC. I'm not too sure what you mean by impedance but I don't like very loud volumes. I think I might get these and that Kmart microphone that everyone recommends.

Yeh maybe I'll post it as a deal, I can get more opinions on them. Thanks for the help.

i meant HyperX Cloud II Wireless, not Alpha sorry
they are on sale all the time for $170 and even cheaper

    Own these.

The ANC is a atrocious. Barely cuts out any noise.

The transparency mode is so bad, the mics must be really bad quality or something. When transparency mode is on it sounds like white noise.

I have a big head, and they're a tight fit, and ears get super hot.

Can't take out the battery with one hand, it's like the cheapest , least convenient mechanism for a battery charger I have ever seen.

Headset doesn't automatically turn off if not in use either. If left connected to my iPad it just drains the headset battery overnight.

Also a lot of people have issues with the massive mic inside the earcup jabbing their ear.

Sorry for the rant, but for the most expensive gaming headset these are so shit.

I had the inzone h9 before and that headset was better in every single way aside from some features. I thought I was upgrading but genuinely feels like a downgrade.

I swear the reviews are all paid shills or something.

  • Had ordered this on 1/2/23 and its still saying "Not yet shipped. We'll e-mail you when available." What a joke.

    • Amazon did that to me too with a Logitech G935 for months, that’s why I was looking for other headsets.

    • Have you received yours yet? I ordered mine on the same day and it still hasn't been dispatched
