Kogan sold me two sims and voucher on 28th dec , took few days to arrive . The voucher codes did not work. I called them, they said the codes were expired on 30th. They said they cannot do anything about it .
I lodged a complain and waiting response from them .
Just need to be careful .

With the above deal, please note you cannot disable the auto recharge off .

    • Usually they extend by a month via call

It was a bit weird last month where I just couldn't recharge at all and all my codes were invalid, had to call to get them to apply. But the auto recharge was still off for me so that was a positive

In @Kenada's comment, they mentioned they purchased the $2 sim, but activated the code straight away (seems like without the sim they just purchased).

I haven't tried this method, but I'm assuming if you purchased the eSim option, they will send you a voucher code + eSim instructions. Try using the voucher code on the physical sim card you had from 28 Dec and see if that activates it?

      • Thanks, I used the voucher code they sent for esim options and is working, i am using this as interim so that i can start my circles life plan from 1st of the month for $10 per month, 30 GB /month for 13 months.
However the two vouchers they sent me for the purchase of sims on 28th are still invalid. I emailed them again and they are saying they are still looking into it. As per the previous comments, they did not extend the voucher for me.
One of the guy i talked to went , " How much did you pay for the sim?" " Go and buy a new sim", " Get a new plan".

When i raised a complain, someone called me straight away and promised to resolve the issue but have been waiting,
As the sims were bought from UNIDAYS, i am not bothering any more.

  • Thanks OP!

pretty scammy of them to make you call up to cancel instead of just flipping a switch in the app. then again, it's kogan; what a surprise
i use a generate a one-off card in zip pay or use a prepaid visa/mastercard with a small balance to activate.
then you won't have to waste time sitting on hold to get them to turn off auto renew.

Thanks for reminding me to update my payment details to my single use Revolut card! Only need $1 for authorisation

      • yeah i've heard people mention revolut as well

    • How many times can you generate cards?

      • i haven't encountered any maximum yet but i don't really generate heaps in a day

        • +1

Well it'll be interesting how many you can to bypass the 5 sims per card limit

    • you submitted your personal details for activation,
if you dont cancel but just use the once-off card?
      Would that be an issue|?

this isn't a post paid plan; they don't send the loan sharks to your door.
the renewal doesn't go through, they stop me from making calls, texts and using data.

similarly, i have an expired card on file with amaysim just in case i forget to turn off auto renew (i need to keep it on for some of their "$x.xx for 3 renewals" promos). the worst that happens is amaysim send me a "oh no we can't renew your plan" thing and only allow me to receive calls and texts on that number.

    • I'm done with sim slutting now because of that. Bought the 365 days 500gb for $160 kogan, would have preferred a different carrier but that was only deal at the time last month.

      • +8

i remain a defiant sim slut and won't let kogan get in my way

        • +1

I've been a sim ho for too many years and lost the drive to keep sim slutting around. I've decided to be loyal with only sim card partner per year. It is a was fun while it lasted. Hahaha

        • Would this be good to sim slut? Starting to cheat as I'm trying to save

    • Can you share your case as the operator told me that i need to change plan or port out to other networks in order to cancel auto recharge. There is no “remove schedule” button in my account

      Thanks

      • +1

        share my case?

  • As an option if you want the small you can buy the 365 plan for the same price but just outright.
I got sent the code via email bought a $2 sim as above but used the code I was sent and connected to the network.

Was really easy as I needed something within 24 hours and still using today, never had an issue with them.
    Good post OP!

    link comes up as $15/mth for me;

$15 for 10GB a month thereafter with no hidden fees
    No lock-in contract^

    • yeah me too i can't see how OP got $10 a month ongoing?

    • Sorry typo. Fixed in the title and description

  • you submitted your personal details for activation,
if you dont cancel but just use the once-off card?
    Would that be an issue|?

  • No option to get the voucher for free and use an existing (not yet activated) kogan sim hey? My phone doesnt support esim but i have an unused kogan sim at home

    • +1

I know that when you purchase the eSim option, they send you an eSim to activate + a voucher code. I haven't tried this method, but try using the voucher code on the physical sim card you have and see if that activates it? Please let us know your findings afterwards

      • This works.

      • +1

Can also confirm this works (did it last week). The voucher code comes through a few minutes after the eSIM email.

    • +1

use that sim and the esim voucher code, it works. I did that too,
Becareful, unlike other plans, this esim free for one month has no options to switch off auto renew /recharge

  • Note if you like to do roadtrips you mightn't get reception out there on Vodaphone - found this out the hard way.

  • We’ve got people visiting here in Aus for two weeks. Assuming we can order the esim, use while they are here, and then cancel it without paying anything?

    • +2

yes u can but u have to call to cancel the sims.

  • +2

I used it for the first month, but the connection is getting worse! So I found felix mobile is free for first month with eSim card optional, and so quickly n easy to port into! My kogan plan will renew midnight 6th of Feb, and I make a porting not long time ago on 5th Feb Sunday, not the working hour as Felix said on their app, but I still successfully ported to Felix in 10 mins! And my Kogan account still available to check the dashboard, but there is no payment method saved, besides I used zip one -time card number. It can’t be used twice!

  • I'm getting the following error:

    You have been blocked

Why? Something about the behaviour of the browser has caught our attention.

There are various possible explanations for this:

    • You are browsing and clicking at a speed much faster than expected of a human being.
    • Something is preventing JavaScript from working on your computer.
    • There is a robot on the same network (IP) as you.

I suspect it's because of the link coming from Ozbargain, because when accessing Kogan's website directly, I'm not having any issue.

Able to share the direct link by any chance? Because I can't seem to find the $0 eSIM option. When I manually search for it, it comes up as $2 if selecting physical SIM card, and $15 if selecting eSIM.

  • So you can't disable auto recharge yourself, but if you call them up they will do it without any issue?

    • +3

I called them up today. They said that if you remove auto recharge, all current inclusions would be removed. So best to do it on the last day (or second last just to be safe).

  • Anyone know if you can not turn off auto re-chage in the newly activated 12 months plans or not?

  • Does it matter if you can't disable auto recharge if you port out to another provider before the month is up?

  • For some reason, every voucher code that I've gotten from Kogan in the past 3 months have turned up 'invalid' when i try to enter it in. I have to call them to get it activated. Was also just told that their Esim wont be compatible with my Samsung S22??

Anyway, the upside of the tedious phone call is that it just uses my old kogan account which doesnt have an active card on it, so there is no Auto recharge. So I dont have to call up to cancel

  • This appears to still be valid (it's now technically 2 hours past the original listed expiry date & time)

  • "Invalid voucher"
I wasted 30 minutes on the phone with kogan, but they refused to provide what I bought. They claimed the $2 only covered the plastic SIM - contrary to the order confirmation.
    Literally no service
