  • 7%? Is it still beer? Fascinating.

You don't want to look at DIPA, TIPA or Craft Stouts then. The Surrender to the Void mentioned above runs in at 11.5%. Then again you don't smash a six pack of these after mowing the lawn either… ok, ok - not speaking for everyone here.

      • Hahaha you might lose your feet if you did… Six pack of 11.5% would be 3x the regular, omg my liver just jumped at that xD

    • LORD HOWE ISLAND BREWING GOLDEN WHISTLER LAGER (2022 INDIES SILVER) brewer has very good energy. Oh the island looks amazing, no wonder. Imagine living there and making happy juice for the rest of the populace.

24 can case to be finished by March 2023! No thanks

    • +8

Yeah, short dated, bit of a gamble as well to buy a whole case at this price (assuming most people haven't tried it).

Plenty of nice beers out there for the same price or less, without the short date problem lol.

Garage Project beers are excellent if you like IPAs. Perhaps the highest regarded of all breweries in Aus and NZ.

But, IPAs are also definitely best fresh so I'd choose one of the other beers here instead honestly.

If you're just dipping your toes into craftier stuff, def sample a few styles before committing to a carton.

        • Yea couldn't agree more. Craft IPA is crazy expensive in Australia and there's new releases every week to keep things interesting. Not the kind of beer you drink by the carton really. Fresh is best. This offer must be several months old I reckon. Not sure what ploy they were hoping for with that Dispatch date.

Wasn't the whole point of IPA that it tasted fresh for long enough for the voyage from Britain to India?

        • Yeah GP and Mountain Culture pretty much on par as far as IPAs go imo. Both great.

          • +1

@shbshb: I tried mountain cultures IPA and their "status quo" pale ale on holidays recently. I enjoyed the IPA but holy heck did the pale ale blow my socks off. Literally immediately shifted my expectations of the style. Give it a whirl. Incredible.

@drprox: @drprox Yep that's a permanent fixture in my fridge as is their Cult IPA. Great beers.

Status Quo recently took out number 1 in the GABS 100.

    • rookie numbers!

How long do you normally take to drink a slab of beer?

      • +4

Couple of months. Have 2-3 over the weekends only

      Hold my beer!

Got it. Now I have 25 of em to finish

    • Less than 1 beer per day average consumption required…harden up princess!

      • Princesses don't need hardening up. And not sure increasing beer consumption falls in that category anyway

    • Surely the price is for two cases of short dated beer lol.

  • What is unfiltered?

    • +4

It's when something hasn't been through a filter

      • +3

Thanks Dad, a more funnier response would of been "the beer"

Ales ferment at the top, giving them a cloudy appearance, you could filter some of this out, or leave it in and call it "hazy".
The unfiltered term tries to make it sound more crafty, as you want these flavours and haziness untouched.

    • Coopers lager is slightly unfiltered. you'll find dregs at the bottom of the bottle if it's not inverted before opening. that's not a bad thing, just another style…

  • Initially excited by this but haven't tried it.
IMO most new age IPAs are fairly freshly hopped. The profile can change rather a lot in only a few months (though more common with a hazy or neipa). Not worth the risk I think.

    • I find online beer sales hit and miss and Craft Cartel can take weeks before they dispatch an order.
Though I have had NEIPA's from Boozebud that has been definitely off tasting compared to fresh brews also.

All that being said, 8 times out of 10 the beer delivered is fine :) How they store them is also important

      • Boozebud store there beer in a warehouse in Ingleburn (way west of Sydney). No way that's good for beer.

  • That Phantasm Pilsner is a great beer, good price on it.
