What is the issue? Is it the frequency of the discount?
Looking at your voting history it seems that 20% of bonsoy milk is worthy off a + vote every time?
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/753982
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/735660
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/716345

        • That's some interesting sleuthing

        • +8

I appreciate the discussion, and you're right, it IS the frequency of discounts

There's a discount on airjo essentially every week. You have to wonder how many of their customers are actually buying at the "full price". When does it stop being a 'full price' and we just start calling it an 'artificially inflated price'?

I vote up and share deals on bonsoy because they're few and far between, from multiple retailers, and there's generally an order limit meaning that when it's not on sale I do have to in fact buy it at full price. Not the case here.

          • @Save Medicare:

it IS the frequency of discounts

Then simply hide all the deals from Airjo?

          • @Save Medicare: The people paying full price are subsidising these discounts, hence they are a bargain.

      • +2

I was going to agree with you but then I checked out the prices with the discount. $25 for 500 grams (or ~$47 for 1kg) of fresh roasted coffee including express delivery is a decent price in my book. Their prices pre-discount are on-par with what I would usually expect to pay (unlike another roaster I have seen offering coupons on OzBargain who have prices 30% higher), so at least they're not inflating the price so they can dish out cheap coupons.

I made a purchase and if the coffee is as good as the reviews say, then I'll be happy if there's recurring deals.

      • +5

        You want … less discounts?

        • -1

          30% off of $40 rrp is $28
          10% off of $30 rrp is $27

          So yes

What's the issue I wait around for AIRGO specials. Love the coffee.

My grandpa buys viagra from spam e-mails, so I don't see the problem with spammers sending those emails to everyone. Just delete them and move on, those spammers are doing a great service for the people that want their product!

I've tried the Sumatra and thought it was okay, bit strong but might try two different blends this time around.

I like flat whites and use a Breville Barista Pro. Have always done 18g dose and 36g yield - but open to suggestion if something is better - which blends would you recommend Dan? (Or anyone)

    • +5

Hi juph0rry - thanks for your feedback.
I would recommend the Enterprise and the Twilight to try.
The dialling in can be a little different for each so if you want to touch base when you are running your first few shots we can tweak some settings if needed.

      I hope that helps.

      Cheers
      Dan

    • For flat whites I’d recommend their enterprise blend.

    • If there is a deal for Blacklist Coffee Roasters I just finished a 1kg bag of their Accent blend on my Barista Pro.

Quite a nice cup, ended up using 17.5g doses with yield around 34g.

I have an AIRJO subscription but have been pausing that every month pretty much because cheaper deals cheaper than SUB20 pop up all the time ;)

  • +26

So Ozbargain become precious and holier than thou when it comes to Airjo, but any time there is a PS5 'back in stock' post, you all upvote it like crazy.

    Hmm ok.

    • Don’t think anyone minds when Airjo uses OzB as their advertising billboard. But pointing out that these aren’t real discounts helps new buyers make more informed decisions.

  • Is there any decaf option?

  • Whatever happened to Direct Coffee….been quiet.

  • +16

Jeewiz, bit salty here Today isn't it.

The coffee is great. That's all you need to know.

    • +3

:) Thanks so much Yellow Alpaca - that kinda is all that matters….

  • +13

Agree with others. The coffee is good and I have no problems with periodic discounts on different products. Keep it up.

    • Super appreciative of your support Jpear!!

    • +5

That is a pretty terrible reason for negging this deal. If you want to neg it because they post deals all the time that's up to you but I wouldn't neg it because it's not the cheapest priced coffee available. The place origin of the coffee beans and how it was roasted impact the taste/quality and therefore will determine its value; basically you are comparing apples to oranges.

You might find that Airjo's coffee is far better than Sicilia's coffee and is worth the extra price, making this a good deal for you. If it's simply about having the cheapest price coffee, Moccona sells coffee beans at around $20 a kilo which means we should be negging any coffee deal with a more expensive price than that. This is the equivalent of negging a deal for a very good $30 bottle of wine that is on special because you can buy a $5 bottle of wine.

Personally, I've tried Airjo's coffee (Sumatra blend) and while I enjoyed I found a local coffee roaster that I enjoy more at a cheaper price. I wouldn't neg the deal though because it's still good quality coffee at a decent price.

      • May as well make them a permanent addition to the front page then since there's a deal every week or two weeks

        • That's not the reason why you said you negged the deal. You said:

Not the cheapest price therefore my negative vote

Your original reason for negging had nothing to do with the frequency of Airjo's posts.

    • But you can buy 1kg of couple of good blends from Airjo for $30.77 express delivery!!
So don't understand your -ve vote??

      • -3

It's fine you fanboys can enjoy the weekly or fortnightly perpetual non-deal

I've just discovered the hide button that works for me

        • I am not fan of Airjo and didn't even upvote. I simply corrected your post where you wrongfully stated 1kg of Airjo beans cost $39.13 vs Sicilia $31.9 standard post. So Airjo is cheaper at $30.77 express post. If you have other reason for negging the deal, or have a better deal, you welcome to share with us!!

          • -1

@huntabargain: The cheapest on Sicilia is actually closer to $25 including courier delivery

But by all means go into the subjectiveness of how good this coffee is and enjoy your weekly or fortnightly front page random surprise percentage discount non-bargain

    • Thanks for the link, they have multiple decaf styles rather than the usual one only.

  • Perfect timing down to my last 200g just ordered a 1kg bag of Saratoga it's my favourite at the minute.

    Thanks

    • Thanks so much mhone - glad to hear you are enjoying the Saratoga!
      Cheers
      Dan

  • Grabbed a bag of Colombia this time, tried Sumatra last time and wanted something a little stronger but not punch you in the face strong.

    • Great to hear jayahhdee - super keen to hear how they compare for you.

      Thanks
      Dan

  • Any suggestion on a bean that would be similar to a Five Senses Darkhorse. Mainly drinking lattes both hot and iced.
Im terrible at describing what kind of coffee i like…..i like five senses darkhorse lol

    • Hey there Fergy1987 - A great place to start in our range is the Enterprise Blend.
That will work super well with your hot and iced drinks.

      I hope that helps.

      Cheers

    Something something something Aldi Coffee
    - the Aldi coffee guy

    • Actually laughed out loud - now stop it!

    • +1

      Do they have decaf beans?

      • +1

What the? I'm not the Aldi coffee guy

  • +1

At this point, this is more like their regular pricing similar to robins kitchen marketing strategy where every day is a closing down sale with 70% off.

    • +5

I for one appreciate ability to buy discounted coffee more often… who cares about frequency. Coffee is decent and service (reading the OP description) is next level. I haven’t had to send any back as of yet. Unsure why people are so critical?

      • +7

Because you are actually paying the regular price while these guys pretend to have "sales" and have gamed ozbargain into giving them free advertising. If other companies did this, ozbargain would just be oz-advertisement and there'd be no bargains, just ads. Surely you can see why people would want to discourage it from destroying the site they visit?

      • +1

Because it’s OzBargain. This just games the system, to endlessly promote the regular price. And suckers lap it up.

I like their coffee & service. But this spam is disingenuous.

    • +6

Well either I buy from a fresh roaster with a discount or I buy from Aldi, I don't mind the regular discounts at all.

      • How are the Aldi beans compared to Coles and Woolies?

        • Significantly better

        • If you want an excellent Aldi bean, try the Brazil single origin. It’s great! And it recently won multiple awards at the Golden Bean comp.

          • @Frodog: Their Brazil beans available limited time and no longer available in stock!

          • @Frodog: I bought this recently thinking to join the aldi suggestions and was really impressed. It means I'm yet to try the "regular" aldi beans though. Is the SO available regularly do you know?

            • +1

@Acopic: SO’s are usually always available. Not sure about Brazil though. They like to rotate their SO’s. I wouldn’t rate any Aldi coffee for Filter but if you enjoy black or white espresso based drinks, the Brazil SO is amazing.

      • Where’s the discount?

  • Our office currently uses the Café Corporate Boss' Blend.

Any suggestions for which blend would be similar to this?

    • Hey frodoteabaggins - I would recommend the Enterprise Blend as a great place to start in our range.

      Cheers
      Dan

  • How many votes can tell you what most of the people think the deal is good or not.

If the beans&price are good, vote is reasonable, if beans are bad & price are not acceptable, less vote.

    • Negs are highly limited, and come with rules (and can be deleted by other users.

+votes are free, and no rules.

Thanks ohyesss - we do appreciate the support we get from the OzB team.

  • Enterprise blend has been my go to for ages. I enjoy seeing Airjo discounts pop up on Ozb, reminds me to check my bean levels.

    • Thanks Bigrig - Enterprise is my go to also - thanks for sharing.

      Cheers
      Dan

  • how is a regular airjo discount any different to coles/woolies who do the same thing? e.g. they have 1L oat milks on sale every 2nd week, where is everyone blasting them for that? why the small business hate? if you don't like it, move on; the coffee is awesome and the rep is probably more active and helpful than any other business advertising on OzB. geez

    • +1

The fact that we are seeing oat milk and coffee specials on the ozbargain front page shows how sad the state of affairs is

  • Hi Dan,
I’ve ordered the Sumatra some time last year. I wasn’t impressed as I found the taste rather light. Want to give you guys another try, what is the darkest roast available with bittersweet taste? Cheers

    • Hey there modify - thanks for your feedback and thanks for asking.
If you are looking to go straight to the darkest I recommend the Thunderchild Blend.
Almost as dark and super delicious also is the Stargazer Blend.

      I hope that helps.

      Cheers
      Dan

  • What would you recommend for a V-60 pour-over coffee? I enjoy twilight for my espressos.

    • +2

      Hey pwoar thanks for asking.
I would recommend you try the Enterprise Blend.
It's a little darker than the Twilight and will suit your V-60 well.

      I hope that helps.

      Thanks
      Dan

At what point is this just a recurring advertisement for the regular price?

    • Its nice coffee as i bought some a while back… but jeeperz… i agree 100%… its just advertising, just constantly the same discounts.

    • +4

Correct. Coffee is decent but at this point discounts are the regular price.

  • +1

This is just spam at this point, and I've ordered from here multiple times. Tbh have found their beans don't stay as fresh as others.

  • Can I buy this and make cold brew at home? Which one would you recommend for smooth refreshing but not bland at the same time cold brew

  • +3

disagree with the negs on this its consistently good coffee, whats wrong with having a sale whenever there is an over supply of a certain bean afterall coffee is seasonally grown.

    • Nah, that’s not it. Every time they offer a discount they get featured on sites like this. Marketing 1x1.

  • Any recommendation if I want a caramel-like favour?

  • +1

Genius marketing, but not such a great deal for subscribers. They regularly discount their coffees some 40% off their artificially inflated list prices. Nothing wrong with that, any astute retailer engages in such low key scam.

Their coffee subscription is outright absurd though. You only get 20% off list prices. Shouldn’t they rather reward their customers for bringing in recurrent revenue? Oh and then they also hiked the price while I was subscribed. The usual “we are only passing on cost” claptrap. Canceled and moved on.

  • I tried their coffee once and wasn't impressed, won't buy again. I can't prove it, but I concluded the beans I got were not as fresh as they claimed.

    • sounds like personal preference, not a valid reason to downvote. I've been through 15-20kg of airjo and all fresh

      • Nothing to do with personal preference. The beans failed to provide a smooth shot, it was splattering everywhere like old beans tend to do, regardless of grind setting. I know how to make coffee, and have no issues with other beans. So yeh, the beans were dodgy. And I'm also downvoting for reasons mentioned by others - they post too frequently. Their "bargain" price is the normal price.
