Thanks OP, picked up a C2 for the glovebox.
Are these good (bright enough) for self-defense at night?
Yeah this and a can of wasp spray next to the bed should help deal with any eshays
Bought one recently for camping, you won't be disappointed at that price point.
Why would you need something this strong for camping? Won’t that annoy everyone else?
I am only asking because I am wondering what I would use it for if I buy it.
It has four different light levels. The low is very good if you're trying not to wake anyone up
the middle two are good for normal things. And the high level is good if you want to blind someone or just really need to see what's happening. Great little torch and worth the price.
@Pavvvman: Thanks.. bought!
@Pavvvman: Also the top power level on any of these usually lasts for a really short time too (~15min) low-middle setting is more the default for usable durations.
4 power levels to play with the only thing missing with this torch is red and amber lights.
Yes, it also has seizure mode for the highest brightness.
Haven't kept up, how does Wuben compare to someone like Sofirn?
Similar. Sofirn have an SC31 Pro that might be comparable.
I'm associated with Sofirn.
Any models with zoom for hunting?
IMO zoom torches aren't good for outdoors. Better to get a thrower like Sofirn IF22A for distance.
These be decent use for a push bike?
Recommendation?
Nothing anywhere near as bright as this.
1200 lumens on a bike will guarantee you get run over by the cars that you blind.
@Nom: That's not very helpful.
Also why would I run it at full brightness if there's other cars around? Do you drive around with your high beams on, hoping to get run over by other cars?
Was asking for recommendations.
@teereb: IF22A isnt really suited for bikes. You want a flashlight with a good mix of flood and distance. IF22A is more of a spotlight and not much flood. I use Sofirn SD05 for bike riding. Although this is a scuba torch it has a nice beam profile and holds high lumens for a long time and takes 21700 batteries for long run times.
@zealmax: Excellent, thank you, I'll take a gander.
Dereelight, Wolfeyes…
I have a rechargeable Sofim IF22A from a previous OzBargains deal….throws a serious beam (up to 2100 lumens) but gets hot pretty quickly..
Bot this one a year ago thinking it would be useful, but always end up using cell phone torch as its always near me.
Does this one stay at the last mode when you turn it on? (I would prefer a separate mode switch, but they are rare)
I have other torches that require you to cycle through all modes to turn off and they always start on mode “A”.
Also - what colour is the light? (Cool, warm etc)
Yup, it turns back on to whatever setting you last had. To cycle in between you half-press the button.
Colour is cool white.
It is cool colour and it remembers the last mode except for strobe and sos mode.
Can be turned off from any mode.
Does this work underwater?
Well it's IP68 so yes for 30 minutes no deeper than 1.5m.
If you want a better affordable underwater light, wait for a sale on the Sofirn SD05
why would you want a torch without replaceable batteries?
Why would you want a phone without replaceable batteries? Or any other device for that matter?
Also the battery is replaceable, you just unscrew the back and it slides right out. I just did it with one of mine.
because you don't have a choice with phones or laptops any longer. i assume with torches you still do? i haven't bought one lately admittedly.
To answer your question directly, an 18650 battery stores significantly more energy than a AA, so it can run brighter and longer.
It charges via USB-C, so it charges with the same cable that many phones/tablets/laptops charge from. And it costs less to run and generates less waste than a torch that uses single use batteries.
I have 3 of them and can go months without using one that still holds its charge. Has a red flashing light to let you know if the battery is going flat. And it lasts for ages on the lowest mode, so your chances of running out of battery are pretty low.
Plus you can buy a spare 18650 to further reduce the chances of getting caught out.
Pretty sure you can replace the battery on the Wuben.
This has a replaceable battery
Thanks for the post; planning a solo trip to Iceland later in the year this would come in real handy for when I’m wandering in the dark for sunrise and chasing lights.
Might be a cat in your past life.
Ahaha
Used my Wuben from a Hekka deal from a while back on a camping trip recently and it was SO good. Better than my mates' fancy head torches and paid about $23 from memory. Highly recommend.
This is a brilliant torch, you don’t know what you missing until you have one of these. I love finding lost items under my couch now 😆😆
Bought one thanks.
Anyone found a decent holster for this torch?
Can anyone give an advise if I should get the C2 or C3? 🤔
Interested in this also. Deciding between the two
I Googled up a few reviews and decided in the end to go with the C2 due to the fact that apparently they don't hold their max brightness for like more than 10 seconds before the output drops dramatically; one review I read said the C2 holds its medium setting brightness pretty much until it's completely out of juice. Another consideration for me is the fact that I do astrophotography out at dark sites so having a longer throw will help me with focusing as I can light up something that's further away.
You lighting up Antares to focus there homeboy? 500ly is a pretty good beam.
Haha good one made me chuckle nah for foreground when I shoot Milky Way landscapes.
@basketballfreak6: Cool hobby btw. It baffles me that the Milky Way is above us (all around us?) all the time and we just ignore it like its not incredibly amazing.
@lunchbox99: Crazy right? Like we are looking at it while being in it. Another thing that messes with the head is when you see the nebulas they're light from like hundreds of thousands of light years away…so you're literally looking at the past and at something that may not even exist anymore.
@basketballfreak6: Can i join this cultured discussion? :)
@FrozenFred: More the merrier xD
The location of the on/off button on the C2 is more convenient than on the C3 imo
It says 49.95 .. misleading deal
You clicked the wrong one…
You mean the link in the op post ? That one? 49.95
That's the C2 link. Click "Go to deal" for C3
No more 20% off for C2 😓
Yeah, just went to grab 2 and ….. Not today Sir…
Both have gone up in price. They look like nice torches, will wait for the next deal…
C3 is still $31.96 when you tick the 20% off box.
I can't seem to get it to work. Maybe it's now finished? I'm wanting the more powerful C2 as well. Thanks anyhow.
EDIT: I see, you have to go to checkout… Hmm should I get the C3? C2 looks like you get a lot more for your money.
yeah the c2 is 800 lumens more powerful
C3 back to $31.96
Thanks picked one up!
Bought one a couple days ago, arrived today. Damnnnn it's bright! And feels sturdy too. Good buy OP.
Yeah agreed, seems well worth the price.
Arrived today, but not working :(
Back to this price again.
I got one before. It stopped working very early, but I charged the battery with an external charger and it's working again.
I think anything up to $35 for Au stock express shipped is pretty acceptable.
