Reviews look fair and at $4 I figured it was worth a try. Similar ones elsewhere are over $10.

I agree. Kmart used to sell them for $7 but they have gone up in price due to corporate greedflation. They are barely tolerable…they leak from the inlet after a while and the 'shower head' is a joke…you have to be very patient to use it. I use a couple in the bush to heat water during the day then pour them into a bucket and use a 12v pump to a real shower head…must more efficient.
Yeah I was thinking next trip I will get a 12v pump and build an easily removeable 12v panel and battery setup. Alternatively was going to get two battery and fridge and fridge slide setup… and could run a little pump off that too :/
All going to need to use these soon, with bills going up so much
Used to use these. Then discovered a normal dark coloured watering can works better and easier to use.
Campsite shower cubicles usually have a retractable hook for you to hang your shower bag from though. How would you hang and use a watering can?
Yeah, but these handles rip like paper. Then the tube stretches and comes off while its heating and spills everywhere.
Watering can. Simply hold above your head with one arm, soap in the other and tilt. Swap half way. Obviously use a watering can with a fat "shower head".

Yeah they don't look like they'll last super-long. I used this one a few weeks ago and it worked fine, but I'm not sure how long it'll last. It's a great deal at $4 though.

Won't that limit the amount of water you can use? 20L is 20kg, it'd be challenging to hold that up in a showering position.
@eug: Mine is around 12L.
Basically use two hands with the can in front of you at the start. Then go one handed once down to around 8L.
Soap rinse off and water temp is so much better than the piss trickle shower heads the solar camp ones have. You basically get a 10x better shower with half the water. Shorter..but so much better.
Have a boiled Kettle/ Billy + cold water bucket/ hose ready to go in case you want more water. Refill in seconds and go again. Cant do that easily with these.
So much PFA involved in getting water into the solar shower, burping air out, moving it, hanging it up etc. Horrible to refill from a kettle for another shower, and the small shower heads give a rubbish shower anyway. Watering can wins hands down…well…hands up.
Use this technique for a rinse off after swimming in the pool, beach etc.

Ahh well, I guess that's when it boils down (heh) to personal preference and camping location.
With a solar shower bag you just fill the bag up with water and leave it on the ground to heat up. Burping is just pushing on the bag while you pop the cap on. There's no need to faff around with a boiling kettle or refilling or carrying 12kg over your head at the start of the shower which some people, and kids, can struggle with.
The mini shower head it comes with is really weak but it makes the 20L go a really long way. With a ~2/3rds full bag I've had water left over after a satisfying warm shower with shampoo and soap.
Some shower cubicles have low hooks so it can be awkward trying to get the angle of the hose right. I've had to squat a little under the bag.
Their "delux" model looks more well-built but at $27 you'd want to be using it frequently.
A watering can will last much longer, is much tougher, and have much greater flow, but can be awkward to handle for some people (while winching a 15-20kg bag up can be difficult for others) and a higher flow rate means you'll run out of water sooner. It also takes up more space when packed away. But I can definitely see it working well for some people.
@eug: The shower head hose always came a drift on mine. Tried a cable tie/ tape. Nothing worked. It just got all loose from being in the sun. After putting it out in the sun all day, then the hose falling off (and losing all the water ..again…then the hook handle ripping completely off mid shower, shampoo in eyes… bag dropped, hose blew off..water gone…I looked for a better way). Plus was always worried a stick, rock will puncture the bag
Just want to clarify. The watering can is also solar heated. Just get a dark coloured one (usually dark green), fill it, plonk it in the sun. I was just saying refills are much easier.
But whatever works. The downside is packing space..kind of. I put a goon bag/ water bladder from a box of water inside and fill it up. Makes for a $5 fresh water jerry can and fits perfectly in a jerry can holder.
Final caution, these modern cheap solar bags are cheap for a reason. They arent the same as the first generation bags. Check the quality.
I grabbed two from online, even paid 8 bucks for shipping, Kmart got $11 one, which can be free shipping by one pass, hope this one could be better than Kmart one, it equipped tempertature gauge.

Repurpose it as a booze bag?
I got one practically free that time @clear found that code glitch… and I still feel like I paid too much for it tbh.
I use it to have warm clean water to clean down my kids before putting them into the car after a day on the beach. I totally could not see an adult reliably using this without getting frustrated. The valve mechanism is not very well designed.
You’re right though $4 is worth a punt. If it’s terrible you won’t feel so bad ditching it.
