The price on the receipt for the one I bought was all for the tab. The extras were free.

Almost just bought this at Good Guys for $385! Saw the post just in time! Got the dock and pouch, sounds like the "rock" case might be better for watching movies on the plane though
Why buy this when Google's Nexus 7 tablet is the same price, or less? Am I missing something?
Superior display, SD card slot. Better camera + LED too although not that important for most people
The Nexus 7 is awesome, but it doesn't have a microSD slot, can't do HDMI out, is thicker, and is LCD rather than AMOLED (which is personal preference really).
Thanks to those who responded. Anyone know how is Samsung with its OS updates? According to website it is running 3.2.
They're quite slow with updates. 4.0 (ICS) has come out in the UK already. It'll eventually reach the Australian tabs, but you could just flash it yourself with Odin if you're tech-oriented and know the risks.
From what I have read ICS has been out for the 3G version for a while now and the WIFI ver has got ICS rolled out this week, out for a few days already.
I would not trust Samsung to get jellybean anytime soon on this thing They may even abandon it prematurely after jellybean, but the community devs should make up for that.
ICs is coming out - they say late July/August sometime. im still waiting for the update.
other than that, still a great tablet, perfect size, super slim and awesome display!
expandable memory makes it worth it too :)
I'm running ICS on my 7.7 and it flies. Personally I'm not too fussed if JellyBean never comes because it's so smooth now. I guess ignorance is bliss lol.

true. but so does my One X. and i can actually tell the difference between the two. No i know you will argue that its HTC sense. but let not go there or else we will keep arguing.

dy4me: From comments on WP and XDA, CM9 on the Tab 7.7 is smoother than Samsung's ICS on the same tab, so the skinning affecting speed observations does have some merit.
Obviously JB is better, but 'how much better' is the question here. :)
@eug. im not disagreeing with you. im sure CM9 is faster on the 7.7 Cuz touchwiz/sense are a bunch of bloat crap. and as much as you would like to know the answer to if JB would be smoother, i would too. But i juet feel like it may just be faster. based on my limited nexus7 experience. Although id like some more comprehensive testing.
My main reason was because I use it for movies/tv shows whilst traveling. I have a 32gb Touchpad now, and because I always leave things to the last minute, I forget to add new shows. With this I will be able to just hot swap some 32gb cards.
Plus more impressive screen, and I believe improved battery life for long haul
That is correct, almost 2 hours better battery life on engadget's test, the only tab that lasts longer than the ipad. I am on the fence between the beast that is the nexus 7, this one or the thinkpad tablet sales that are popping out at the moment. I should really retire my galaxy tab 1 from telstra :))
Oh man. I had the original galaxy tab. The 7.7 is waaaaay nicer.
7.7" is a nice size for me. 10" is a bit large to carry around, but would be nice to use at home or at the office.
I know, it feels Jurassic now. The original galaxy tab I have hangs, lags and lasts around 5 hours on movie/ browsing, good 1 1/2 years of service though.
And funnily enough you can probably still sell it on eBay for nearly what you paid for it. I know I did.

Its a shame that the nexus7 doesnt utilise the 7.7 tab2's hardware with jellybean and tegra 3.

Great deal - except for the fact that the 7.7 is still running Honeycomb (to my knowledge) and most likely won't get Jelly Bean. Otherwise, I would've purchased this in a heartbeat.
I'm running ICS on my WiFi model, as of 3 days ago. Just download the UK version and Odin flash it. Works great.

I was referring to official Australian updates, but its great that the UK version's finally come along - shouldn't be too long for Australia now.
Imo, no micro sd card slot kills the deal for nexus 7 and slow OS update kills the deal for Samsung tab. Best bet is Asus tablets to drop their prices further.
further more the processor on the nexus is faster, new generation over the sammy
The Sammy is no slouch (same as Galaxy S2 at higher clockspeed) and I'm guessing there'd probably be no noticeable difference when compared to the Nexus in general use.

Regarding the Keyboard dock, does anyone know if you can plug other accessories into the 30-pin port?
For example, can you plug the USB OTG cable into the 30 pin adaptor on the dock? Or the HDMI adaptor?
hmmm….if you buy the desktop dock, book cover and pouch with the Tab, it adds up to $366 which is more expensive than a couple weeks ago
