Whoever buys the drone, buying DJI care+ is a good idea. I crashed mine after a month lol
The replacement was a painless experience.

    • How much is dji care plus?

      • +4

$190 for 2 year, i paid extra $99 for the first replacement.

    • +5

Pilot pending. Have had a DJI mini for 2 years. Crashes = 0

      • -1

Have DJI Spark for 5 years I think I crashed it just once but survived ok. Have been through a fair share of CCPM Heli's 2x Walkera 22e crashed, 2x Align Trex 450se all crashed countless times since takes alot of skill to fly.

    • +1

How did you manage to crash it?, sports mode?

    • +1

Had a Phantom 4 for a few years with zero crashes (and it didn't have anywhere near the range of sensors the newer drones have), a Mavic 2 Pro for over 4 years with no crashes and a Mini 3 Pro for a year with no crashes

      • +3

Well my daddy is bigger than your daddy.

      • Good job bro

        • A couple closeish calls along the way but I think those scares just makes you be more careful - fly in open space or if you aren't (e.g. flying amongst trees) then really pay attention and be gentle on the sticks. I think the thing that gets many pilots is flying sideways when there's stuff around

    • +1

LOL I crashed mine after a week. Completely broke the gimbal and they sent a new one without a fuss, pretty quick shipping too.
Care+ is a must, and don't fly indoors, just saying

  • +11

Great example of how the 22% off sale is a scam

    • Absolutely.. Normal RRP for those drones & Controller is $1299.. The RRP in the ebay add is a classic example of price jacking …

  • -4

Why wouldn't you just buy $1300 worth of TCN Teen Gift Card from Woolworths (with 10% off) and use them at JB HiFi who are currently selling this for $1299. Ends up being $1169.10. No brainer!

    • +1

Why would you wanna hassle yourself and end up spending more? Lol.

    • A true no-brain-er.

  • +1

good find. not as cheap as the last two deals

  • +4

Great drone but finding good places to fly is hard.

    • -1

You can fly it pretty much anywhere

      • Not really. There are many council controlled parks in Sydney where you are not allowed to fly any remote controlled aircrafts.

        • still plenty of other spots to fly this drone though…

          • -2

@GregFiona: All those remote areas where you can fly and far from crowds, you can also fly with bigger drones too. The only flexibility with under 250g drones is you can fly closer to airports and helipads, at reduced altitude.

            • +4

@edfoo: This is simply not true. You can only fly to an altitude of 120 metres above ground level. You cannot fly drones > 250g within 5.5KM of any controlled airport (i.e. one with a control tower). You need to familiarise yourself withe drone rules: https://www.casa.gov.au/knowyourdrone/drone-rules. This is 95% of the reason why drones (and correspondingly drone pilots) get such a bad rap: not following regulations. Once you are 1m above the ground the airspace is controlled by CASA. You must abide by airspace rules and regulations. Get your CASA Drone Accreditation and register your drone. Then learn to fly responsibly. I fly commercially and the number of uninformed and simply dangerous pilots out there is astonishing. Carry your accreditation and / or RePL, wear high viz, use a drone pad, and launch and land from designated approved areas. Get approvals to fly. Up here in Brisbane, there are plenty of drone parks where you can fly - just consult BCC's website. You can fly pretty much anywhere else but consult https://ok2fly.com.au/ prior to launching. As my favourite drone YouTube commentator says "when flying - just don't be a tit".

              EDIT #1: typo
EDIT #2: You can easily crash the DJI Mini 3 Pro - they have no collision detection when flying on a roll (i.e. left or right) or when in sport mode
EDIT #3: Trees are not your friends: be above them or well away from them. I've seen too may drones be written off after a CFIT (in this case trees)
EDIT #4: DJI's software will require confirmation if you are flying within 5.5KM prior to launching. Secondly, you may be required to supply an auth code that is entered via the DJI RC which is supplied via SMS to un-geofence your drone if you are particularly close to controlled airspace. Remember you are on the hook for fines and drone confiscation if you drift into controlled airspace (e.g. over the fence line). Upto $A26,640. Just don't be a tit.
EDIT #5: There was a recent DJI firmware update to incorporate FAA UAS regulations: https://www.faa.gov/uas/getting_started/remote_id (similar in concept to ADSB). Whilst only applicable in US airspace right now plan for similar regs will most likely be introduced in AU soon. Your drone will be trackable. Your flight will be traceable. Hence, don't be a tit.

              • @H4nd0: Which part that I said is not true? About restricted parks? Seems like you are in Brisbane, I am talking about in Sydney here where many suburban parks governed by the local councils have sign posts showing not allowed to fly remote-controlled aircrafts, that include these drones.

                • @edfoo: "The only flexibility with under 250g drones is you can fly closer to airports and helipads, at reduced altitude": no it's 120m max alt AGL. https://www.casa.gov.au/knowyourdrone/drone-rules

                  • @H4nd0: I know the maximum altitude is 120m for all recreational drones, whether <250g or >250g. What I meant "at reduced altitude" is if you are closer to the airports, the altitude should be reduced even further down when flying with an <250g drone, to avoid potential collision.

              • +3

@H4nd0: Your rant about rules and regulations in no way matches the comment you're responding to. You just decided to get on your soap box and dictate the rules without anyone asking!

wear high viz… register your drone

LOL, no thanks. It's a < 250g hobby drone, I won't be wearing high viz!

                • +2

@cerealJay: Knock yourself out, cowboy. CASA regs apply to hobbyists as well. Even if you have no accreditation. I fly with my vest on (LoL) to avoid the Karens in public spaces. What triggers me is the sheer amount of misinformation in this thread:

"can't fly in CBD in Victoria": which CBD? Ballarat?
"can't fly in parks in Victoria": yes you can - you just can't launch or land inside the park
"altitude restrictions inside controlled zones": no there is none - it's 120m AGL unless you have a RePL / permit

                  etc. etc. etc.

      • +1

In Victoria you can't fly it anywhere in the CBD or national parks.

      • Can't fly over people and can't be with 30m of people. So yeah can fly just about anywhere just not anywhere thats popular with people.

I also just meant it's hard to think of places to go to get good shots and footage.

      • *anywhere in Australia

But traveling with a drone becomes a pain in the ass, not that many countries you can fly without a headache like in Australia

    • Unlike my old trusted Phantom 3 Pro, this one weighs only 249gr with standard battery. That means there are no 5.5km controlled airport restrictions!

  • Kicking myself for missing that last deal, still a good find OP!

  • Got mine under $1000 from anaconda price match on the last deal.

    • +9

30 minutes of fun and sits in room catching dust.
      Great investment.

    • How ? Do they price match ebay prices after discounts??

      • Nope. Last deal I matched with Harvey Norman proce at anaconda and they beat by 10%

        • Ahh. Okay.

  • Crashed mine into power lines. Folded up and came down hard but in bushes. 4 blades were damaged so replaced them easily enough. Seems ok now. Didn't worry about dji care, taking the chance.

  • -2

and here i thought all the made in china drones got shipped to the russia frontline

  • Easy to upgrade antennas for extended range and cheap upgrade to boot.

    • Would you need to tho? OC3 has something like 12km range in open space. I've had mine out to over 2 or 3k's a few times with very strong signal. If you're actually shooting stuff and not just range testing you run out of battery before getting too far

      • 12km is FCC mode, we get stuck with CE
