Great combo with the 6700XT!! Fantastic price point…. especially considering the gpu market atm.
Is there a option to upgrade the cpu to 5600X?

    • +1

      exactly same thoughts 5600X + 6700XT

      • +7

5600 would be fine, no need to incur the extra cost.

    • +9

There actually is, if you scroll to the bottom of the options there's a second entry (for some reason) for the CPU. 5600x for an extra $140, not great but it's there

      • +6

        Seems pretty reasonable to me.
Mwave have them for $110 extra so a little mark up for changing the prebuilt is pretty good I think.

        • +4

Oh right they're aren't as close in price as I thought

    • Agreed, I'm not completely upto date with the performance spec of the AMD CPU, but I recently built a 1440p gaming rig with a 6700XT, 11600k and I am thoroughly impressed.

    • I saw an option to upgrade to 5600X at the very end of the spec selection. Weird spot tho!

  • +4

Anything a little further up the food chain, in the $1K-$2K bracket, lads?

  • +17

If you're not streaming, and you have no interest in DLSS or much in the way of raytracing, this is much better value than the RTX 3060 prebuilts that have been flying about at this price point. Even if you are interested in those things, this is still arguably better value than an RTX 3060 build at $999.

We really need to start seeing those cheaper RTX 3050, 3060 12GB, 3060 Ti and 3070 Ti variants appearing here.

    • +1

which of three above is best value?

      • +5

You're getting about 50% more FPS out of the 6700XT vs the 6600, so I'd suggest the 6600 system has the best value overall, but the 43% total cost step up to the 6700XT system isn't awful value. If there was a 6650XT build for $799, that would be even better value.

The bigger issue is the potential bottlenecking via the Ryzen 5500 at 1080p or targetting high frame rates, which does not perform like a 5600 CPU, rather a 3600.

    • Agree with all of this, I’d be all over a RTX 3060 TI build… 12th gen CPU or R5600x plus would be ideal. Anyone feel free to hit me up if something good pops up!

  • +7

Just FYI the 3rd link heading says "Ryzen 5500 RX 6600 8GB Gaming PC" but lists a 3050 as the GPU.

  • +17

Still waiting on my PC from the deal in December.

If you’re needing a computer quick - buy elsewhere these guys take forever with no updates - only if you ask.

  • +1

Ryzen 5500 is a bit of letdown but can forgiven at the price

  • +1

How do you check if Mother board will work without Graphic card?

    • +6

Ryzen 5500 CPU does not have integrated graphics. The PC will not work without a GPU.

    • +1

No motherboard will work without a graphics card. You can however get a CPU that has integrated graphics, therefore not requiring a separate graphics card. You can google each CPU to check if it has integrated graphics, otherwise depending on the brand they will typically follow a naming convention.

    • +4

It’s the CPU that you need to look at, to see if they have an IGPU. In this case, the 5500 doesn’t.

      • +1

        Thank you :)

  • +2

Hypothetically, if someone was to purchase one of these for the home office: would the invoice just list the SKU? Or would the invoice talk about it as a Gaming Desktop?

      • +14

how is that illegitimate? a gaming PC can be used for anything

        • +3

Why are people worried about what the invoice says?

          • +10

@prhino: They want to make it clear that it's for work, for either the taxman or employer. When people see the word Gaming they have negative connotations that it is for leisure activities despite being a computer.

            • +2

@Jimbuscus: Hearing the word "Australian Taxation Office" or "ATO" is already giving negative vib…. I mean connotations.

      • +4

My Alienware is used from 8am to 11pm for my project work, does that mean I can't claim tax deduction because you know, it's Alienware?

        • +4

          Them's some long workdays

          • @prhino: Flexing long workdays is a tad strange imo.

          • +1

@prhino: Yep. Whoever says WFH is actually less productive is kidding themselves. I feel like I am still thinking about work even after 5pm and weekends. At work, at least once I left work (and my desktop), I wouldn't be thinking about my work.

            • +3

@burningrage: Doesn’t sound healthy, maybe you should go into the office…

              • @johnnytran: Yeah. That thought does come across into my mind every now and then.

      • +3

Most the PC's in my office are called a "gaming PC". What you call it doesn't make it tax deductable - it is how you use it!

        • +1

          Good to hear.

I've had some annoying tax agents try and say "thats going to be hard to justify".

Its just a matter of future proofing really, and if some of the software providers want you to buy their prebuilds for hundreds (if not 1000s) more than fair market price- something like this is ideal.

          • +1

@ArjaytheGuy: Maybe the reason why it's called "Gaming" PC is perhaps the perceived durability.

I bought my Alienware to replace my 11 year old PC during COVID where PCs parts especially the graphics card were hard to find and I needed it for my work pronto so needed a very reliable PC and didn't have time to build it.

Maybe that's the sort of answer you might want to give ATO if ever asked.

          • @ArjaytheGuy: People buy 4 wheel drive cars as work cars and claim driving in the city. Same-same.

    • +8

Are you worried about tax? If tradies can claim a $100 K ute, and their dog (seriously) as "work tools", I don't see why you can't claim a "gaming computer" as a work tool

      • +7

        It's not a "dog" . It's an "automated tool retrieval aid" .

    • +13

The invoice will say Gaming PC on it along with the specs and itemised parts. I picked one up from TF a few months back and just dug my invoice up to check. Hope this helps

      • +4

Thanks for the direct answer. Much appreciated.

  • +2

nice deal, trying hard to get rid of the 5500 stock, wonder what BPC has for us

    • +1

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/752138
      Slightly better build for $1259.10

      • +1

Just breaking it down to try and understand

That bpc one looks like an a520m instead of the b550m here
Fasttech charge 110 for the 5600x CPU upgrade which ends up ~$60 less than bpc

The bpc warranty is 2 years not 1
        Bpc PSU sounds better
Bpc is 6750 xt not 6700xt

$60 more for the psu and GPU model up sounds worth it, but is the a520m a problem?

        • +2

A520 is a worse board, but 6750 and extra nvme storage are tipping it on this side. Very odd choice of board but b550 with built in wifi is an extra $59

          • +1

@maverickjohn: And $60 to upgrade this to a gold 750w, which still ends up $60 apart with the b550 upgrade in the bpc
I read the BPC as 250 nvme OR 500 SSD, not both
$60 for the 6750xt upgrade, but you're downgrading to the 5600 CPU. BPC still sounds like it just noses in front.
I've never bought from either retailer, maybe their service is a bigger differentiator than anything technical when they seem so close

            • +1

              @based: for $1448 delivered upgrade to 5600x, 1tb nvme, b550m - 6750xt
              techfast $1292 delivered 1tb nvme upgrade- 6700xt
              techfast seems better deal

  • RX 6700 XT is around $590 ?

  • +13

Not a dig on this deal but some components are sketchy. 750w PSU has no description on brand etc. I like transparency from Bpc on parts list.
What is the best realistic price of RX 6700 xt at the moment? $550ish? For remaining$400 to $450 you get what you pay for.

    • +1

This is what holds me back from buying my first dedicated gaming PC from TF..

      • +2

I brought a 3080 pc from TF 2 yrs ago now, just prior to gpu madness. Had zero problems, would buy again. In fact thinking about buying 1 of these for a not so well off son.

        • Yeah no dramas. Did your had power supply brand listed?

  • +1

With the CPU, the $699 options seem better value.

If you are considering upgrading 2x8GB (16GB) to 2x16GB (32GB) for longevity, it's cheaper to buy a n extra 32GB later on than the price to upgrade, leaving you with two sets of RAM for cheaper than the one.

  • Which one of these would work for Fortnite and Minecraft? Would the second option be the best one?

    • +5

      $699 for 1080p monitor, $999 for 1440p.

  • +2

No PCpartpicker table in the comment section. Nice work /s

  • I heard 5600x or even 5600 is much better than 5500, especially if you paired with 6700xt.

  • What does the default option of "no operating system activation" mean? Doesn't come with Windows at all?

    • +1

Windows still installed but not activated. Up to you find a key or just leave it as is

    • +1

It should come with Windows installed, but it wont be activated, so you have an option to get a key yourself.

    • +1

Just to add to what the others have said, if you’re upgrading from an older computer, you might be able to transfer your old product key over. That’s what I did when I ordered from TechFast (used the product key from my old laptop - it still activated Windows 11, even though it was an older version of Windows).

I think the product key on the old computer has to be retail (not OEM) though for that to work. You can check what it is by opening up a command window (as admin) and typing “ slmgr /dli.”

  • Wow these are great deals with 6700xt. Almost making me rethink getting a GPU on its own to use in my eGPU enclosure… Could just sell the enclosure and use the GPU budget to buy a full PC almost. Haha.
I'd jump on some of these if I had proper use for a home pc.

  • What kind of FPS should you expect from these systems for new games like Harry Potter or Elden Ring?

    • +1

It depends on what resolution and frame rates you are aiming for. The 6700XT systems should be great for up to 1440p, and you can turn up or down settings to reach your frame rate. For games that are already out, you can just look for some benchmarks on youtube for the game and graphics card to see how it holds up. If you are going for lower resolution but a higher frame rate, then the CPU might be a limiting factor there.

  • good price for normal business usage

  • +2

Recently, I received my 3060ti system from Techfast. Super happy with purchase. Mainboard: Asus, GPU: MSI, Power : Gigabyte, Ram: Kingston with RGB, NVME SSd: Crucial. Package was very secure and fully well protected. The only problem was delivery time (took around 4 weeks to arrive)..

    • +1

My pc from techfast arrived with a huge dent in it and was DoA. I guess that's just rough handling though. Packaging can only help so much

    • How much did that cost you?

  • How would this go with VR on oculus?

    • I believe the 6700XT is plenty sufficient for VR

  • Hi Guys, not sure why, but i'm seeing 1,199 instead of 999. is there something i need to do to get the 999 price?

    • +4

Add the coupon "5500-6700XT-JANUARY" at the checkout.

      • Seems this voucher has now been expired? Can you post another deal with a new coupon?

        • Ok looks like it is just out of stock.

  • Any WiFi included this prebuilt? It said Wired Eternet in the wireless connection section.

    • you have the option to add if you click on the drop down. there are options for a wifi included in the prebuild

  • Would this system give better performance than a PS5?

  • Fantasic price for modern hexacore with 6700XT. The MSI Mag Forge doesn't look too bad for budget case: https://youtu.be/fh6bAIr8B2U

    • Got two Forge 100R in the house. Nice case, careful of the tiny RGB LED hub, it looks fragile, but you just need to be careful with the tiny cable management.
Case fits 6700XT ±31cm quite nicely, lots of space, nice space for drives etc. Really not bad for an $80 case ($80 from MSY in Fyshwick, $99 everywhere else).

  • any of these $699 options are good for 4k vedio editing? or I need to stretch my budget?

  • +2

Do you have examples or specifics for the 750w psu?

  • +3

I'm always a little dubious about deals that say "brand/model may vary". Nice price point for people that don't care about brand/model though.

    • Scroll down to the bottom where it says components and brands

Your system will ship with components from the following leading brands (always depending on available stock):
RAM: TeamGroup, Crucial, G.Skill, Allied, Corsair, ADATA, other TechFast approved brands
Motherboard: A320/B450/B550/H410/B460 [without specific brand]: Usually: Biostar, Gigabyte, MSI, Asus, other TechFast-approved brands
Z490/X570/All WiFi motherboards: Asus, MSI, Gigabyte, Asrock
Power Supply: 550W and 750W: Usually: Allied
80 Plus Bronze and Gold: Gigabyte, Antec, Thermaltake, MSI, Deepcool, other TechFast-approved
Graphics Cards: Galax, MSI, Gigabyte, Gainward, ASUS, Biostar, Colorful, Inno3D, other TechFast-approved - all used as often as each other
Liquid Coolers: Usually: Allied, Deepcool, Corsair Occassionally: Other TechFast-approved brands
Solid State Drive: Usually: SanDisk, WD, Seagate, Crucial, Lexar, Gigabyte, Allied Occasionally: Other TechFast-approved
Hard Disk Drive: Usually: Seagate, Western Digital, Toshiba Occasionally: Other TechFast-approved

  • Sketchy psu's are no joke

    • I dunno man, I’ve experienced so-called ‘well rated’ corsairs go belly up and destroy a few PCs. Nothing is well made anymore. I’d avoid gigabyte and Corsair. But yes I’d pay the extra $59 for ‘gold’ rates psu

  • damn the Ryzen 5500 RX 6700XT 12GB Gaming PC is out of stock?

Can you post another similar deal or let me get one!?

  • link not working for me? is it still available?

    • Just tried & link still working. When you get to checkout just drop the code in & price is reduced to the advertised price (depending on which system you're looking at)

  • +2

    @luketechfast
I see that it is out of stock, any chance you could contact me or comment below to do an extra build for me (6700xt)

    Thanks,
    Alan

  • +1

    "product not found", oos/expired?

  • Hi @luketechfast, will you have any new 4070ti deal coming up after the current one expires on 24/Jan?

  • +1

Hi Luke do we still have 6600 PC available?

    • I am wondering about this too. The link brings up a 'product not found' page, so I am thinking it's gone :*(

  • Anyone received any order updates?
On their other available builds they quote within 14 business days for build time, which from the post date of this deal would be Feb 10. So I wouldn't imagine we'll get any for another week
