I have a tatung, Taiwans most poplar rice cooler. Has a stainless steel bowl.

      I have a tatung

      Does it hurt ?

    • poplar rice cooler

I've read that cool rice is better for stir fries.
Do you put it in the fridge first?

      • Apologies, had just woken up, a few autocorrect errors

    Cool, are there any bargains?

Just use your microwave, no need for another kitchen appliance.

    • some people don't have microwaves, no need for another kitchen appliance.

  • so many options
will need to consult OZricegain experts

We do at most 2 cups of rice at a time (every 2 - 3 days), the 10 cup rice cookers always seemed excessive and I guess we wouldn't meet the minimum fill levels when doing 1 cup.
    What are the recommendations?

      smaller rice cooker

    • not sure if you ever steam food but what i do is put 1-2 cups of rice into a smaller bowl/pot and then stack another pot with food, usually egg, on top of the rice and steam it in one go.

there's also nothing wrong with cooking just 1-2 cups of rice in a 10 cup cooker.

larger is better if you ever think you will be doing more with your rice cooker.

EDIT: to clarify, my experience with rice cooker is with tatung and there is no real minimum fill levels. you just throw in however much water you need to cook the amount of rice you want at a 1:1 ratio.

Bought my tatung from here a few years ago. Love it! Highly recommend. Love the stainless steel bowl

  • What is the difference between "Tatung 6 Cup Rice Cooker (Stainless Steel)" vs "Tatung 6 Cup Rice Cooker (Art Gold)" I am only looking for steel inner bowl. I dont mind for the looks of outer bowl. There is a $90 difference but eventually where the rice cooked in both in the same pot I assume, some one who bought can clarify please? Want to get one.

    • +1

The difference is the outer pot. The 'Art Gold' is aluminium, whilst the 'Stainless steel' is stainless steel on the outside. The stainless will be harder and more durable against dings.

      • So the inner POT is completely same for both models?

        • +1

yes. and to be clear inner pot here is referring to the pot that holds the rice, not the 'inside of the outer pot' which is only stainless steel for the stainless steel model.

  • i prefer tiger awesome rice cooker! but the prices dont seem to be any good.

  • OP can you confirm this inner POT "Tatung CSUS1079 6 cups" fits into "Tatung 6 Cup Rice Cooker (Art Gold)"?

  • Gott admit Tatung is like one of the best steamer/rice cookers aye.

But unsure about their pricing though. :S

If you are spending 200+ it should be free shipping anyways. XD

  • My grandma has a 25 years old Tatung, still works like new
