What should I watch next from shows in the last couple of years?
Not so much into the sci fi but dramas, zombies and docos. Enjoyed Breaking Bad and similar a lot. Though older, would have to recommend Six Feet Under. Great ending.
Seen Justified or The Leftovers? A couple of my faves. Chernobyl and The Queens Gambit as recommended below are good too.
Sounds like you'll like American Gods. I am watching that at the moment, it's very good fantasy/drama.
+1 for The Bear, The Expanse, Andor and Severance. A good mix of drama, sci-fi and raw story telling there.
The Haunting of Hill House on Netflix is excellent. If you’re one for a bit of a scare that is. It’s one of the best TV series I’ve seen and very highly rated. I’ve seen it through three times now.
Excellent story, rich character development, lots of Easter eggs and a good twist at the end you can pick up on if you pay attention. I went through so many emotions watching it.
If you liked that, Midnight Mass is brilliant too. It's slow but enjoyable
Just recently watched Midnight Mass, I'm glad I pushed through the slog in the first 2 eps! So good!
If you haven't watched Mad Men (see it in the last poll) I recommend it, it’s a change of pace but I loved it. Rewatched it when I had Covid and was hiding from my family.
Ted Lasso for me is hands down one of my favourites and I can't wait for season 3 to come out this year.
Rick and Morty - I have only just started watching and it's hilarious.
House of Dragon I enjoyed as well
Rick and Morty - I have only just started watching and it's hilarious.
Stop now, it is only downhill from here.
Yes I did enjoy GoT overall but it did drag on a bit in middle seasons so would like to watch House of Dragon!
Worth it IMHO.
From the last two years or so I've enjoyed The White Lotus, Severance, The Bear, The Old Man, Tokyo Vice and Hunters
There's been quite a few good miniseries' recently. Here's a few I've enjoyed
Sharp Objects
Chernobyl
The Queens Gambit
Mare of Easttown
Normal People
The Stranger
The Undoing
Inside Man
TV shows
The Boys
The White Lotus
Black Mirror
The Crown
Big Little Lies
Yellowstone
The Flight Attendant
After Life
Ozark
The Bureau - SBS on Demand (French)
Dead Mountain - SBS on Demand (Russian)
Andor - Disney (Star Wars, but not nerd level)
Succession - Binge
For All Mankind - AppleTV+
Foundation - AppleTV+
Succession is an interesting one imo, I’ve watched 6 episodes and I’m not convinced, straw poll of mates it’s either love it or hate it
I think it probably the best TV series currently running.
It's pretty unique in that there is not a single likeable character, so if you can't get over that, I can understand why it might not be for everyone's taste.
I think I initially got through that uncomfortable period because I was so engrossed extrapolating the scenario's and events into the Murdoch family.
Maybe that’s just it, and I couldn’t put my finger on it, not a single character is likeable and maybe that’s influencing my viewing, now knowing this, will that change my thinking about it
@original15: Maybe, maybe not.
As above extrapolate the characters onto the Murdoch family.
Then you can sit back, relax and enjoy while "Lachlan" tries to negotiate with "James" to stab "Rupert" in the back because of the terrible "MySpace deal", only to crawl back again, ready for season 2.
@original15: Hang on…. You don’t like cousin Greg? You’ve gotta love cousin Greg!
@Jon Voights Car: They guy who changes sides at the drop of a hat?
I mean, of all the characters he's probably the most likeable, but no, he's still an (profanity), just a relative lightweight, although he seems to be developing more and more cunning as the series progresses.
@Jon Voights Car: he's so damn awkward
The Devils Hour
The Peripheral
Mayor of Kingstown
Fisk
1899
Shorsey
The Patient
The Last of Us
recommending a show after 1 ep hahahaha
Fisk is great! Have not seen the others.
Yellowjackets
Letter Kenny

and the obvious yellowstone, 1883 and 1923 prequels
Better Call Saul
Your Honor (only up to ep5 atm but it's really good)
White Lotus
Shrink Next Door
House of Dragon
The Staircase
A Very British Scandal
Dope
Ozark is a must watch
Better call saul is a no brainer
1883 is probably one of the best westerns in the last decade
1923 is currently screening and loosely connected to 1883
The mosquito coast is quite good
Slow horses for a good drama
Gangs of london for high octane crime story
The Peripheral for action filled sci fi thriller
For All Mankind is a underrated alternate reality of space exploration
The expanse a space opera type sci fi story
Slow horses for a good drama
I'd call this a comedy.
Ozark started so so well 👍🏻
Start anime by watching Death note.
Amazon prime:
Outer Range
Outer Range
Outer Range (I’m surprised it never got mentioned)
The Test (if you like cricket)
Peripheral
Oppy (great doco about rovers on Mars. It’s so beautifully shot that my kid cried in the end)
Apple tv:
Slow horses
Severances
Mythic Quest (some episodes are really boring though)
The English
Oh shit!, Yeah, I was going to put "Outer range" but I could not think of the name of it at the time… Remembered it an hour later and by then, too late to edit post. 100% cant wait for the next season…
The other one I am surprised that hasn't been mentioned yet is also "Peacemaker".
Such a good show. Enjoyed every single episode.
Haven’t watched Peacemaker. Will have a look
@TheGhost
I'm a huge Josh Brolin fan but couldn't get into Outer Range.
I tried twice, watched a few episodes but that massive hole in the ground was just too stupid for me to continue.
I figured sometimes (or maybe most times) you have to put logic aside to enjoy a show.
It may be fun to see the same blackhole in The Ranch. Don't get it yet how Josh Brolin can go back after get pushed into the it. I thought it's like Game of Thrones major character unexpected dies early in the series.
@TheGhost
Yes I agree with you especially now that I've watched a couple of episodes of The Rig on Prime. 🤔😂
Wow thanks everyone, so quick to respond.

I still recommend The Expanse. Lately, Severance was good and I enjoyed The Bear. Star Wars Andor is pretty good too.
