They must make these last mile mobility scooters legal NSW. This solves many issues and makes substantially less car and traffic. Probably though insurance solutions and making newer infrastructure. There was a trial going on, not sure what was the outcome.

    • +3

The main reason why I still haven't purchased an eScooter yet.

    • +2

Seems the response from councils last year wasn't good. The trial itself was free to participate in, but with all things government there was red tape and they didn't want to spend money on road safety audits. Audits to work out where it is and isn't safe to ride, so the rental operators can setup no-go and slow zones.

There's plans for another trial this year so hopefully there's interest.

      • For a minute (due to your pic), I thought jv has gone sane

Talk AFL or QNAP and he'll be completely normal.

        • Jv loves scooters

Kids, buy one and be like Nick Kyrgios: https://s.yimg.com/os/creatr-uploaded-images/2023-01/3b1f18b…

  • if we put a seat, would it be an electric bicycle ? ;)

    • Sadly you'd need pedals and the backwards states have the old rules like nothing over 200W.

  • +1

Get these legal already! They've been in Canberra for ages.

Make sure you have a home insurance before you buy these.

    • Do people really break in to houses and steal these?

      • It'd be more about the home fires than theft. I'd never leave mine on charge when I'm asleep or not home.

Theft is usually people breaking bike locks or going for a test ride when you're trying to sell.

JBhifi may have a promotion on Xiaomi Scooter 4 soon. Stay tuned

Sounds like you should be off the road.

Me, paying for registration and driving within the legal boundaries having my car damaged and the stress of hitting someone that wasn't looking, couldn't hear because he had noise cancelling headphones on and crossed traffic?

Are you serious or mentally affected by a similar accident that was also you're fault.

I still haven't got my car back on the road because of a moron and his scooter.

        • +6

See this is where context is important.

Are you serious or mentally affected by a similar accident that was also you're fault.

With an attitude like that it definitely sounds like you should be off the road.

@Clear: You didn't understand, I am the victim through no fault of my own I have to live with damage I have to pay for and I still feel bad for hurting a guy who's currently having tax payers tend to his injuries because of his stupidity.

And you've got the nerve to tell me I should pay a further penalty?

            • +1

@[Deactivated]: Your original comment had no context. People are against cyclists and absolutely hate them being on the road and it's no different with escooters. Easy to assume you're someone like that.

Are you serious or mentally affected by a similar accident that was also you're fault.

I think I've misread this comment as an attack rather than a bad experience on your part. Sorry about that.

            • +4

@[Deactivated]: I'm not saying you could have avoided hitting him, as I don't know whether you could have seen him before he jumped in front of you.

But when I drive, I scan for mice up to 200m on left, right and ahead, if I spot one I will approach with extreme caution and move the car to the furthest possible lane/edge from the mouse (to maximise my response time, should he make a move).

I play out all possible scenarios and am ready to respond to all possible scenarios, I even play out these scenarios mentally and "feel" them.

This entire process all happens approximately 1 trillions times a second.

I am always the first to reach the exact legal speed limit from the green light (to allow more cars behind me to get through as well), I drive as fast as possible and weave around traffic all the time to maintain my own flow.

I accelerate the microsecond the light turns green, even if I'm 20 cars behind (obviously I have to brake immediately, because no one else has the same 1337 reflexes and attention/focus while driving as me)

I've never so much as had a single traffic ticket, nor accident, I've avoided thousands of potential accidents by using my process above

I've never paid for vehicle insurance.

Did I mention I am the best driver in the world?

              • @Grish: Seems you made him disable his account :/

      • -1

Yep, less of these people and their dangerous devices around is a good thing.

        • I think it's the opposite, make them legal but put in laws/regulations and free classes/courses to help people learn about their correct use. You know, in the same way we need to pass a test to get a car license?

I'd be ok with registering and having a number plate if that gave me more options.

    • +1

Context really matters, how the (profanity) are people supposed to know what you meant if you didn't take the time to explain your situation properly?!?

None of the coupon codes work. It shows me the price of $1079.

    • Have you used the coupons already elsewhere?

      • Nope, I haven't used any of these coupons before.
Does it still work for anyone? Or is the deal finished?

        • Does it look like this at checkout? If you have eBay Plus BTSR22 will show and without it BTSR20.

          • -1

@Clear: Yes, the checkout looks the same, except that I don't have "Voucher/coupon BTSR22" shown under Gift cards, vouchers, coupons. And when I enter it in that field, I simply get the message: This code can't be applied to your order.

            • @keytofreedom: I can confirm both codes still work on my end. I’m an eBay Plus member

Are you using the eBay Australia website (ebay.com.au)?

              • @BargainsGrabber: Yes definitely, I'm using eBay Australia site having logged into my account.
And I'm not an eBay Plus member. It's weird, tried on another browser, gives me the same message.

                • @keytofreedom: Try BTSR20 since you mentioned you are not an eBay Plus member

                  • @BargainsGrabber: Just figured out why. I had an international eBay account, which was assigned to UK first. Have to create a new account for that to work.
