Bunnings Battery Alternatives

Is there any alternatives to Bunnings cheap AA+ and AAA+ batteries. I find I am spending too much money on them and was thinking rechargeables to reduce cost? Any suggestions? Thanks

  • Check Amazon for cheap alkaline batteries if they're for things that last long, like regular TV remote controls. Either their own Basics brand or Energizer/Duracell that are constantly on offer. You can even get cheap ones at Coles if don't need more than 4 or 8 of them.

If you're constantly swapping batteries for devices then get rechargeable ones. Eneloops or IKEA ones are decent.

I’m still rocking 4 packs of 4 OG eneloops from 10 years + ago… they definitely don’t owe me anything. Can recommend.

        you only have one account?

        • Sadly we can only have one account on here too.

    • Same, I think mine are even a bit older. Still working fine. I use them in a small cordless soldering iron so they get a workout.

      You take that back!

  • I still have some alkaline batteries around for infrequently used remotes and some flashlights for camping, but 90% of battery power is via rechargeables.
I have eneloops, some from hobby king and some from Coles, all “low self discharge”.
    Costs around 0.1c to charge.

My biggest issue is making sure there aren’t eneloops in some old toy that is getting chucked out.

  • If you have Costco membership, the Kirkland batteries are great value. Can't remember the price at the moment, but very good. And great quality.
