Pinnacle 1830 x 1500 x 540mm Heavy Duty Storage Station $209.48 (in-Store) @ Bunnings

830

Had been looking for a timber workbench for a while, and recently found this one at a reasonable price. Includes a timber benchtop and 2 metal pegboards.

It seems to be a clearance product and is not listed on Bunnings website, but it can be seen thru Powerpass. Limit stock nationwide, maybe call before going to bunnings. 8 left in Bunnings Bayswater WA.

The size is a perfect match for the recent Pinnacle Shelving Unit deal

OMG how good is that nrby.in link !!!!

    • It is! Unsure if I'm being unrealistic, but surely there should be more stock spread out across the stores, looks like a whole lotta zero's!

    • Yeah suprised I have seen it for the first time

    • I'd it live stock levels, or reset at night or in the morning?

      • +1

I used to use that link until I discovered this one which allows for sorting by store/state/stock but also has stock for Myer, Officeworks, BigW, Spotlight and Anaconda. https://bunnings.youinstock.com.au/

This might be a silly question so apologies in advance, but can’t seem to find any specs on the pegboard aspect. Do they tend to be a standard size? i.e. would the hook kits on Amazon etc work with this?

    • +3

Should be fine. I have a separate peg board but various hooks i've bought from bunnings and aliexpress all fit. Haven't come across any that dont yet.

      • which hooks from bunnings? Zenith?

        • Not sure. I've got some actual pinnacle ones but the rest are a bit of a mix not sure what came from where.

    • I have this metal pegboard and also purchased the standard melamine pegboard version. The standard hooks you purchase from bunnings don't fit this metal pegboard. You need to purchase the pinnacle hooks.

  • Looks decent and big but not that cheap IMO. A bit of thinking outside the box and you could have as good a bench, and a wall hung tool board shouldn't cost too much either. I guess you could make the argument to get this if you needed to bench to be in the middle of a room and support it's own board, or if you couldn't be bothered putting something together.

    • +1

The bench version of that - no steel pegboard - is going for $300.

    • +7

2 x 500kg capacity wire shelves (MDF warps and gets moisture-damaged)
1500 x 500mm timber slab 500kg capacity bench (again, much better than MDF benches)
      approx 1.5m2 of powder-coated pegboard
And it all slots together quickly and effectively (based on reviews of Pinnacle storage)

Not just about not being bothered. Materials, convenience and longevity (including being able to move it/pass it on) and saving a few hours probably makes it a lot cheaper, for many people, than building an approximation.

    • +4

this will never be much cheaper even if you make the bench urself and grab a cheap pegboard. Metals and timber are not cheap. This is a good price

      • I picked up some side frames from supercheap auto when they were clearing them out for a buck each. I then picked up the laminated wood bench top that was 1200x600 for 25 bucks, and a second 1200x300 laminated bench top for the lower shelf. I didn't want the lower shelf so be wider as I want the option to sit at the desk. A few spare bolts I had lying around later and I have a bench desk with very nice spotted gum top and shelf, for 37 bucks.

For the price of this, I can have 5 or those. Yeah I picked up things one sale, was a bit creative, but there's always opportunities to do things like that

        • Fair enough but this is an objectively good deal when you compare it to alternatives on the market. Finding shelving for $1 is not feasible for most people man

          • @GrumpyGandalf: I didn't do anything too special, I just watched on here like everyone else does, and thought a bit outside the box. The other deal I'd say is that the Aldi Shelving that's very similar to this, and for all we know could be from the same company, I picked up for 79 bucks a shelf. That could potentially make 2 benches for 39.50 each, as long as you are prepared to add your own wooden bench top as the shelves are the metal ventilated type. That would be a much more common setup than what I did, and probably there's still these shelves available

            • +1

@Jackson: you know the standard slab from bunnings was going for like $80. So that plus this shelf (you say its similar but it still could be rated for less than 500kg) is still $80 and you're complicating things by assembling it yourself and you're gonna have a tougher problem claiming warranty. So maybe you save $50 for your effort. Don't really see the value personally. Plus you still gotta find a pegboard which usually are overpriced, even the nonmetal ones.

Be able to get a vice into this?

    • Negative. Won't be rigid enough

      • How so? These are very solid.

        • +1

Metal beams are 1.4mm thick and stamped. If you camp a vice on them the beams will deform.

          • @pegasusx: Ah i see. I had a vice on mine but i did have some extra hardwood in between, not specifically for this reason but in hindsight sounds like would of needed anyway. Pretty light duty my use also.

    • +1

Picked one up and assembled yesterday.
It's a solid unit, and the piece of timber is pretty solid.
A small vice for light duty operations would be fine, especially if you install it in a smart location where it's cross braced.
I'll be installing a small vice on mine.

  • On my powerpass these are showing as $150 with RRP as $209.48?

    • Looks like it's based off what store you select.
Store that is showing it as low stock is $150. In stock is $209

      • What price does it show for Notting Hill VIC?

      • Any stores in VIC east or south east showing $150?

        • Throw me a store or postcode, I'm from NSW so wouldn't know where to start searching lol

  • Enough stock for a deal?

    • Sure is.

      Thanks OP!

Picked one up at Newstead, Brisbane. Had a whole heap left. As you walk in, walk all the way to the left and you'll see all the shelves. You'll need a trolley as it is quite heavy.

    • Theres like 5 more at Bunnings Virginia at the front …they are $209

  • I got it for $100 from my bunnings 6 months ago

    • How did you do this? Special sale?

      • It is $105 in Vermont South Victoria

        • Already have this reserved thanks to information from a previous post in this thread.

I got one from Bellambi this morning, along with the matching shelf unit. Still had a few there when i left.

      • Same here…when they managed to find them :)

  • 1500wide. Really want this to be 1800wide.

    • I got two 3000 wide will be perfect. Thanks OP

  • I got the last one for $150 from Underwood, QLD. Thanks OP

Picked one up and assembled it yesterday, it's very sturdy and great value for money in my opinion.
I got the last one, and the box was ripped and dented and a couple of the parts had a little dinged up.
Legend fellow in store reduced it to $55 - I nearly fell over. Panel beated it with a small hammer and multigrips and as good as new lol
    Thanks OP!

    • Do you 'need to use the peg board's

Can I built the bottom part and have the uprights up against the wall, but not use the peg board?(have that blank)
What material is the peg board? Wood or metal?or do you need to install the peg board part to make it work properly or to.comolete the build?

      • Yeah the long back pieces would need to be cut off, so if you had an angle grinder you could do it easy enough and no one would know the difference.
The peg board is metal, in two pieces.
I think Bunnings have this without the peg board, or a similar thing, but it may be smaller, and more $.
        Hope that helps!

        • +1

Thanks. Don't mind the uprights staying in place.
But won't use the peg board, I'll hang something else on the wall instead.
There are power points on the wall where I want this, so maybe Ryobi battery chargers wall mounted

  • can anyone reccomend a suitable small vise for the workbench?

  • To those who have bought this and installed/built it…
