Cold Brew Coffee and Tea Jug $6 Clearance + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store/ OnePass/ $65 Order) @ Kmart

250

After my Hario broke I was searching old deals saw people talking about the kmart version.

Saw it was clearance and bought one for work and home. Was plenty left in the Cairns Central store, unsure of stock levels around Aus.

Feel and look pretty good in person.

I once busted my cold brew jug, just as I was about to pour it, smashed it right up against the counter.
    Fun times.

  • How does this go?
I feel stupid for buying a hario

Might be worth reading if this is indeed the same one

    • It isn't that one, but it clearly says to not use boiling water in the linked ones information. Use cold or maybe hot tap (60 degrees).

I only use cold tap water anyway, but it's a great reminder.

Not meaning to be argumentative, but it doesn't "clearly" say not to use boiling water as far as I can see on my mobile browser.
In fact it twice suggests hot water ("hot water" "steam") can be used.
The usual way to brew tea is to use boiling water, or 80C for coffee.

        Features
Can be used with hot or cold water
        Removable infuser
        Air tight lid

        Additional Information
        Instruction Manual
Caution: Allow steam to vent before tightening lid
Care instructions: Clean according to given instructions

It's borosilicate glass. It'll go to 400oC for short periods and at least 200oC for standard use. It'll also withstand a temp differential of 165oC without cracking. Add all the boiling water you like.

          • @GrueHunter: Anything Kmart say about their products for me engages my in-brain grain of salt dispenser. Could be borosilicate but maybe the purity is questionable. Just hunches though.

Sorry, I did mean the paper leaflet they slotted inside the jar says it.

        • The caption of one of the photos in the manual says you can add hot but NOT BOILING water. I suppose that means up to 85 degrees?

Yeah it's definitely the same one even though they have completely different handles

Kmart recalled it but just kept on selling it and is still selling it years later

      That's totally what's happened

  • Nice find Op. That's way cheaper than the T2 one.

  • Have one of these and use it all the time through summer. Yum!
Couldn't justify the price of the Hario - wasn't sure if I'd even bother with cold brew. Cheap way of trying out a new brew method.

  • Looking at that pic, does that hold more coffee (comparatively) to the Hario? It looks like a bigger portion the jug.

The Hario is a nice product but this price is just amazing.

    • Personally I think all of these are too small, but at this price, buy 2

I don't know how everyone else makes their cold brew, but I like to further filter about 70% of it through a paper filter (in addition to the steel mesh one).

      • I filter through a standard paper filter for the American drip systems. Much better to drink, I was raw dogging for a few months, was still ok

  • I have one. It's been a great servant
