Recommend Me a Home Security Wi-Fi System with at Least 4 Cams, PVR

Need a home security system with PVR and at least 4 cams upgradable to 8. Has to be wireless for a rental and preferably each camera has a solar panel for self-charging.

does such a thing exist ?

was on sale for circa $1599 at end of last year at either JB or TGG (forget which one had it) - the other one was selling it for $1699.

  • Reolink?

    • Possibly. What do we think of Swann systems?

  • Some second hand TPLink cameras and a second hand NAS ?

    • does TP link have management software for all their devices in one screen?

      • I recently bought a QNAP NAS.
Qnap gives you 8 free licenses for surveillance cameras.
I briefly wired it up to 3x TPLink C200 cameras - which are currently baby monitors but will be repurposed when the kids are older.
It does have a "big screen for camera display" as well but I never gave that a go. You can view the big screen via their client app or via HDMI to a monitor.

It connects to the TP link cameras via Onvif.

        https://www.qnap.com/en-au/software/qvr-pro

Synology offers something similar, sans HDMI output, but only 2 free licenses.

tapo c200 cameras support Onvif, rtsp, I use an app on a tablet to access them locally.
tplink nativelly have an android app to show multiple cameras- maybe 4.

      • a recent 2 bay qnap nas ~$500-700
+ each camera about $130 (if the C310 - assuming it works with onvif)
+ second hand disks from facebook market place in raid1 maybe.

        C310 is outdoors ready.
        C200 is indoors

        • if they had solar panels on them, id consider it

      • The nas is flexible but probably harder to setup than a dedicated system

        • If i go the nas route instead of pvr\cloud, I'd setup a cluster linux NAS with ups backup.

          • @nuno: yep, qnap is literally mdadm with fancy ui on top, minus some features

  • I have a Reolink set and they're awesome so far. Great quality and decent features in the app.
They are having a sale during Jan for Australia Day.
