  • Anyone used this site before? Good to get some feedback before I take the plunge.

Metcash owns the IGA brand. Does that give you enough confidence?

I have used it before - it’s legit. Only issue is physical cards - it took 3 days for delivery via normal post (Sydney).Don’t shop @ IGA anymore as I find it expensive compared to Coles & Woolies ( I have discounted GC’s with both).

IGA is more on region and their price is not very competitive to Aldi, Woolworths, and Coles.

Some people don't have much choice in the region area and I think 10% is a good discount for those.

        • They do some alright specials, and sometimes it's easier to pop into this nearby instead of going to the big boys which are further away. 10% off is great!

@danyool: Agreed. And you have to factor in the cost of the time to go further to Aldi or whatever compared to IGA. And the cost of fuel. I may be unique in this but it’s a 2 min walk to the IGA. I don’t have to start my car. I don’t have to be sober haha. It can be Christmas Day and they’re open if I need more beer to handle the family lol. So there are some savings and benefits there.

I find the things they’re the worst deal on are often the staples like eggs and bread and milk. Steak is often fairly comparable. Sales on frozen food or toilet paper even are often the same price. Veggies and drinks are fairly comparable. A lot of the rest is also. But you can swing by Aldi occasionally for some of those things and otherwise just duck down to the IGA

Physical gift cards? What is this 2005?

    • +2

Might be easier to lose/forget about.

lol I see dozens of posts/comments here about people buying discounted him, her, they/them gift cards from the supermarkets..

Saving money is a trend that’ll indeed never die.

      • This specific iga gc can be purchased physically somewhere or just on the Metcashgiftcards website?

        • +2

Looked it up for you, metacash are IGA’s offical partners..
I reckon you’d be able to buy gift cards from in-store too…

Fantastic and thanks very much for this.
We live in the country and the closest supermarket is an IGA, so it's great to get a nice discount closer to home.

    Have a great day!

Looks like the code also works for the Shop Local card, which can be used at any Metcash owned brands - IGA, Mitre 10, Cellarbrations etc

10% is a good discount… if I shopped at IGA. Some of their sale items are good value but it is much further away than Coles or Woolies or even Aldi. We had a really good IGA but they closed it.

    • yes, we don't have an IGA nearby either, so it has literally been years since I shopped in one

Anyone know if these work at “Supa” branded IGAs?

      Oh man, it better.

Most gift cards of $50 incur at least a $5.00 surcharge, so even with 10% discount you're just breaking even…$100 dollar or more GC is around $6.95 surcharge, so you'll save yourself 3 bucks….if you buy 1 grand worth, you will save $30….is it worth your time?

    • +4

What surcharge are you referring to?

  • Anyone know if these are accepted at boccaccio in Kew?

  • Can the details on these physical gift cards be added to the wallet on Android so barcode can be shown from phone instead of having to carry card around?

  • +1

Thanks for posting OP. I have an IGA nearby that has great clearance prices.

Much more secure this time with you having to activate cards first, with details sent separately via email.
