These look like the Amazon ones. I got a smaller one and I have to warn fellow ozbargainers that the MDF shelf boards are very smelly! (fishy!) It's been almost 2 months and either I've gotten more used to the smell or it's finally starting to dissipate.

Ahh the smell of urea formaldehyde - Still airing a couple remaining uncoated boards after a year

At least this one has some laminate compared- to bare MDF particle board
*Gloss refers only to the powdercoated black metal.

Would take the frame and substitute a couple of planks or metal plates

Do they have an alternative with steel mesh shelves?

      • Mesh is a pain for tubs etc. Ive just installed 6 heavy duty sets in a new workshop and put 30 ply sheets on top of the mesh shelves for convenience

    • Give them a coat of paint. Also stops them going mouldy as well

I need it to be sub $100 to buy another one.

Or you can get Montgomery ones for just $54 each. Of course, they're not as good but they work and you can buy 2 for less money.

    • Do they have with 540?

    • I checked both of these in store and feel very much identical, maybe I am not an expert to see the differences

      • One weighs 33kg and the other one weighs about 18kg and they're different sizes and are rated by the manufacturers for different weights. The more expensive ones can also be set up as a bench which can be quite handy.

In my experience cheaper shelves are also a bit more of a pain to set up, although whether that's true in this case or not I don't know.

I just bought and built 4 of these cheaper shelves last week, easy to build and not bad quality,

    • Bought one, thanks

Edit: by the way, easy to install

  • Prefer metal shelf

    No more VOC MDF

If you have a membership and can get them while on special, the Costco ones are slightly better. Their shelves are coated so easier to clean and less likely to stain or cause moisture damage.

Costco currently has them for $199 but they often go on special for $100 - $120
