High school 2-in-1 laptop <$800

Hi laptop experts,

Looking for a high school laptop and am very confused with all the specs floating around … hoping I can get your recommendations please. Budget is ~800 AUD, but less is better.

Required:
* Strongly prefer 2-in-1 form (touchscreen, convertible to tablet)
* Around 13-14 " screen size, FHD minimum
* 8 GB RAM
* 128+ GB SSD
* Great battery life
* Performance - i5 I guess? This is the bit that confuses me tbh
* Windows (not Chromebook)

Not required: Gaming

Thank you in advance for your suggestions and advice!

    wow remind me of my time at high school - we used paper and pen… and no insta, fb, tiktok, or mobile phone in the class….
    what a wonderful world….

      Wow you used Paper and Pen? What was wrong with a quill and ink? In fact, what was wrong Clay and Wax writing?

      Kids these days

      • with your logic, might as well bring a whole desk to school.

    • When I was in high school the school had these beige Macs that took minutes to boot up. There were faster Macs at the time but my school was just underfunded and full of vintage tech.

  • Good post OP, i'm keen to know people's thoughts about the same specs & suggestions.

  • My son used surface pro i5, 8gb is better. CeX does second hand with good 2 years warranty.

  • You will get better value going for a normal laptop over 2 in 1….

    • True, it's just a preference

        It is a case of: new, 2-in-1, under $800 - pick any 2.

        You can get a nice ex-lease high-end model for around $500 with warranty, though they are scarce compared to regular laptops.

        Look for one with stylus included, and 8th gen intel . i58xxx
        The only problem with Lattitude 7390 2-in-1 is you can't upgrade the RAM. Not a problem if you get the 16GB version.

        $800 will get you a low-end new laptop with touchscreen. Will tend to be heavier, less battery life, and less rugged.

  • Dunno if it's too late but thought this is a good deal

    • Not too late, thanks for chiming in. Good that it's new instead of refurb. What's your thought on the CPU? I don't really know if Pentium 7505 is close enough to i5?

      • Honestly, it should pass for most high school tasks and the SSD will help the laptop feel decently snappy but I'd have a look elsewhere for something more powerful at this price range
