Probably a dumb and easy question, but I'm struggling to google this one. Do the RBA meet in January to change interest rates? I thought it was typically the first Tuesday of the month, which would make it today, but haven't heard any news.

No Board Meeting in Jan 23.
its my day off
Nope, but they definitely do/will in Feb
Meet in Feb but they will not raise the cash rate
Thanks Phil :)
lol, not sure about that…
Yes, for sure.
And also for Feb, Mar, Apr, Apr, May, ……The investors get a month of reprieve before another hike.
I wonder if they'll raise it by 0.5 to make up for the lost month.
They will , once the data is out on how much we've spent over the Black Friday Christmas New Year.
The investors …
Not just investors, home owners as well. Big portion of homeloans coming out of 2% fixed this year reverting back to standard variable rates.
Everyone complaining about living costs but still on spending spree over the festive seasons.
Everyone complaining about living costs but still on spending spree over the festive seasons.
This is the silly thing about the interest rate hikes, it only affects some people to try extent that they need to really cut back. Others can just carry on without much issue.
RBA to rip the band-aid off
.
They get another month to enjoy their easy lifestyle and mortgage free mansions before wrecking Australian livelihoods by pursuing an outdated & unachievable cash rate at any cost. Time for the Albo and Chalmers to change the target before they end up a one term government.
Lol
It was the liberals who got us into this mess
Labor isnt going anywhere anytime soon ;)I hate them both, but Labor would have spent at least as much as the libs did, putting us in this same mess. Free money for everyone!
At least it wasn't the greens in power, everyone would have received a minimum of $1m and a Tesla each.
im not working till one day in feb
No. They'll make up for it in Feb by going a double hike.
not sure about a double (although I for one would love one)…prob go a conservative .25% again. I'm hoping for at least another .75 early this year (total, 3 x 0.25%)
Hope so! Let’s go up by 1% 😃
don't think they do any lifting next month they will wait to see how thing pans out for next few months and until next set of number coming out, but financial market price for 0.25% increase in Feb and a Cut by 2024
Nup, Feb
