Year 11 Textbooks Required for This Year

Hi all,
I'm wanting to get my school his required school books for this year minus the $430 purchase costs. I've found a few books for sale on the market place but have noticed that some books state that the digital version is required with the following wording.
(Compulsory Purchase - Access Supplied at School) (Only available through Campion)
I'm unsure if a second-hand book with the online code already used by the 1st owner would still work.
I am beginning to wonder if this going to be worth the hassle to save a few $$$$?
Any advise?
Thanks.

Jeez seriously? Sounds like book companies trying to force parents to buy new editions to me, didn’t know this was a thing, been a while since I’ve had to buy uni books and a while off needing secondary books for my kids.
It was almost preferred to get a good set of second hand books with the best bits highlighted lol

    • There is this Mediafire link….

With most high school textbooks there will be a couple of access codes that will grant you a couple of years of access to that digital version. Once one access code is redeemed you can't redeem it again.

Be mindful when you're purchasing textbooks new or used that it is relevant to the updated NSW syllabus.

Let me know which subjects your kid is doing I might be able to recommend some good textbooks.

I never bought textbooks and just borrowed those available in my public School library and if unavailable I used the Council Library which also stocks textbooks. For HSC Maths we were given textbooks by school to take home and bring every lesson as well as a PDF copy.
    Class of 2020
I am a big fan of hardcover tho as I can't seem to focus while using soft copy books

    • All atarnotes books are available here as subscription. https://edunlimited.com. Very Reasonably priced and a 7 day free trial.
But These are not textbooks they are more like a highly detailed summary of the syllabus which is useful when learning something new or just for revision. For mat

  • Don't required school books get lent out by the school itself? I would understand if you were buying supplementary books.

  • Hi all,
    Thanks for the responses.
It looks like most of the books are common amongst numerous schools, still, I would have thought there'd be more online.
I will try credit as mentioned by @Muzeeb.
Seems like annotated books are selling at a discount which is a win @original15
I've spoken to the distributor and they've told me I may need to subscribe to the publisher to activate a code(at a cost obviously).
Books I need range from $10 - $72 and there are a few of them.
Business Studies Print & Digital Resource Yr 11 - $68
    Engineering Studies Definitive Guide Vol 1 Yr11 3E - $41.61
    Raw (P/B) [Monk] - $17
Return, The (Currency Play) [Reg Cribb] - $20
Return, The (Currency Play) [Reg Cribb] - $68
Maths Standard Print & Digital Resource Year 11 - $66
LEWISHAM Edrolo Digital Subscription Maths Stand. Yr 11 - $29
    Religion Print & Digital Resource Year 11 - $72
    And so on…..

  • Where did u get the list?

  • From the school via www.campion.com.au

Just means that your kid will have to carry around the textbook in their backpack to and from school instead of being able to access it from their iPad or laptop.

Back when I was in high school, I walked around 30 mins to and 30 mins from school every day with textbooks in my backpack and it was a real drag especially in the summer. I personally would have much preferred digital editions FWIW.

My view is just to get the books, it's not much $$$ in terms of other things you're already spending on school (extra-curricular activities, uniform, computer…etc.).

    • Thanks @p1 ama you make some valid points.
It's for the young kid's education so it's not like it's a waste and there are worse things I could be spending money on.

  • The strategy we have used is two-fold.

Where only physical books are required; we have searched up the ISBN number for the book and edition and then used booko to search for it across all sites and buy the cheapest available - usually it'd be a second hand used copy from the UK or US from places like World of Books. I've got books for $6 used compared to $60 new and the used one looks new - some have even looked like they've never been opened. Most of the English reading books have been bought this way.

Where digital code is required or its a new edition; try process above. In addition, look up Zookal and see if they have the book. You can then sign up for their Zookal plus or whatever it is called service (trial period of 15 days) for an additional 10% off. Once the books have been ordered; cancel the trial. This way, you get atleast 10% off. This has worked well for the Maths books.
