79c USD - USB Battery Charger

240
MLCK713XNL1

Cheap little device to charge some AAA/AA's! I already grabbed one of these last time the deal was on, but for anyone that missed out heres your chance! First 600 orders only.

Apologies the title couldn't be more descriptive, it wouldn't let me put AAA/AA due to excessive use of caps haha!

Also - please note this is a 79c battery charger! We're all aware it's not as good as a regular or more expensive charger, and probably not a good idea to use it to charge your expensive lithium batteries, etc. :)

      You should work in marketing.

Items from meritline are currently taking 4+ weeks to arrive at the moment.

    Rubbish

Yeah I wouldn't trust this to charge my batteries. I mean 79c. Must be really badly made.

The Sanyo version works very well and was $12.99 at DSE a few months ago( came with 2 eneloops).

What batteries can be charged? Alkaline? Nickel Cadium? Lithium? Can I recharge normal disposable batteries with this?

    • +7

      No!
It's for NiMH/NiCad batteries, and it will wreck them fairly quickly too. These chargers are so called "thermally balanced" - They slow down as the internal resistance in the battery gets high. This means the batteries get pretty hot and it is an awful way to charge them.
Also, if you leave them plugged in too long, they'll probably rupture. These little things are a bad idea - Spend a few bucks on a proper charger, preferably one with at least some rudimentary charge controller/overcharge protection

      • I use this charger to revive "dead" batteries(due to low voltage) that my smart-charger simply refuses to charge.

        • You can try throwing a charged(or partially charged) battery with the dead ones for a minute

Great find! And I'd buy it, but unfortunately its one of those US-Only items.

      • argh.. damnit. sorry :/

I am still waiting for my charger ordered last time around 5 weeks ago…

I got mine just on Monday! They do take a while. I think I have 4-5 items en route from the past month!

  • These would make great stocking fillers for X-mass.

    • +2

I'd feel like a bit of an X-mass for giving these out for Christmas.

Can you charge regular batteries using this? I have a couple of Panacell batteries in the TV remote that need charging.

    • No. You'll need rechargeable batteries, mate.

  • Not bad even for 4 - 5 weeks wait. Will find a good use for it.

  • expired now.

  • Damn. The code no longer works for the torch, too (in case anybody was wondering)
