    can recommend this

    • Also recommended 120kg lift

  • just noticed the single beam on this one - anybody know how it compares to lazy maisons etc?

    • Single beam will be fine. You could also get some steel angle from Bunnings and screw it into the frame/desk for extra support

    • I have both the lazy maison and the AIMEZOAU frame from amazon. Both solid frames and function well. As much as I like lazy maisons as a business, the AIMEZOAU is better. The lazy maison feet are 74cm deep, which is deeper than my table so it can't sit flush against the wall. The frame side rails (the part that screws into the table top) are also loosely connected and wobbles. Also, the lowest height setting is slightly too high. The AIMEZOAU doesn't have these issues.

  • Best place to buy the desk top?

    • +3

      bunnings or ikea

      • The Acacia 2.2m panels are often $60 in the isles at my local bunnings too, crazy cheap for solid wood!

        • Do they look decent?

        • Cheers for the tip. Any finishing required on those?

          • +2

@abadacus: I found them rough so sanded a bit and coated with varnish a few times

I also got two of the 2200x600, cut one up, and put it to make a 2200x900 doweled and glued together, screwing the offcuts as bottom supports

Thing is, i got the tops for 119 each ffs

            • +1

@MuddyRubber: I haven't done any finishing to mine, have often thought about sanding and clear coat but haven't taken the time and it's been a few years now haha. They work great though.

        • Which Bunnings? They’re $119 on the website.

          • @haru: Bendigo Kangaroo Flat specifically, I've seen the lighter colour ones for I think $68 or so at the Epsom.

Ive never seen it marked on the website, just go in and find a stack sitting on the ground in the middle of the Isles with the price.

I have a 2.4m x 90cm x 32mm Vic Ash hardwood panel as my top for this. IIRC the maximum recommended length is 2m but it has no issue with my 2.4m top.

I sanded the wood, used a router to create a nice edge, and then oiled it with some hardwood floor oil. Its been great for 4 years now.

Because it's dual motor it also is fine lifting the hardwood panel + my laptop + my 32" screen + my wife's laptop + her 27" screen + breville dual boiler + grinder + various miscellaneous items.

Mine is an 'Artiss' brand one, which is a cheap brand that is probably very similar to the one in this post.

Anyway, I'll never go back to a small static desk after this!

    • I purchased a solid wood dining table from Marketplace for $40, unbolted the legs and other trimmings then bolted the tabletop to my desk.
No finishing required, saves cash and zero waste.
Get the seller to measure the tabletop thickness and send pictures of the underside so that you understand how the legs are joined.

There are plenty on Gumtree and Marketplace, some even going for free

Goes down to 64cm? Nice 👍

    • +1

Thats actually very important if you are not very tall. I have a desk thats 73 cms and I want to cut it down to 67 cms. I am thinking of just getting one of these and moving the existing top to the height adjustable stand.

      • +1

This. I bought the Lazy Maisons desk and with the top on it still sits too high at around ~72cm…. wish I bought one that could go this low

  • I assume this will hold a ~12kg monitor + mount fine?

    • yeh got one of these holding 2 x 32inch on arms and a desktop tower. Not a bad unit but wiggles a bit at max height

      • +1

Thanks Splurge. What tabletop do you have with it?

        • +2

Had a good look at the ikea and bunnings range but they pretty rubbish tbh so i grabbed a 1.8 * 0.9m desktop from an online office supply site less than $120 and it came together quite nicely.

          • +1

@Splurge: Does it wiggle when at around 70cms? is it very stable? Thanks.

            • +1

@[Deactivated]: yeah its perfect up until about ~160cm+ and only then do the monitors suspended on arms wobble a bit. It mayu also be because at that height i tend to lean on the desk more for support

              • +1

                @Splurge: Sweet, thanks mate :)

    • Weight limit: up to 120 kg

Mmm, it's close but you it should be fine ;)

  • Any suggestions for cable management including holding a power board?

  • Anyone got photos of the table top they have and fitted?

  • +1

How do these compare with the Retail Display Direct ones that are going for $326.40 with a free monitor arm (plus shipping)?

  • Can I use a 1800mmx600mm desktop panel for this frame ?

    • +1

      yes.

      • Thank you . What sort of screws do you recommend for fixing the panel to this frame ?

        • +3

it comes with all the screws and grommets required. You literally only require the desktop (and cable trays)

  • If I bought this sit stand desk + the bunnings timber, how does it compare to say those sold from Omnidesk?

  • +2

    Is this one better, sturdier?

    https://www.amazon.com.au/AIMEZO-Electric-Motorised-Adjustab…

Was thinking of pairing with a bamboo table top from ikea.

    • Good find. Keen on learning about this one too.

    • +1

That's the one I bought last year (although from Ebay, where it is still cheaper than Amazon actually). It seems to do the job. Only a little bit of a wobble at full (ish) extension, but it's not enough to be annoying or anything, so I think it's okay.

      • Thanks mate. Yeah I saw on ebay as well. Think I'll go with that one now.

  • Having trouble looking for a suitable 180x75cm (or thereabouts) solid wood table top for this.

    • same here . could not find a suitable 1800 x 700 mm panel

Is it me or has the 20% off checkbox just disappeared?

    • +1

Same hear, 20% gone. No longer a deal.

      • Darn, needed it for my son. He has saved his chrissy money to do a project like this.

  • A spoonful of inflation makes the medicine go down

  • +2

20% gone for me also. Damn it, needed this.

  • That one's gone but this dual stage one has 20% off still.
    https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/aw/d/B09R1GT4BM/ref=sspa_mw_det…

    • Ah yes but less range of movement is a deal breaker.

      • Yeah, I wish I could get one that goes even lower so I can have it go to couch height.

  • Yurp missed also….

  • +1

A mate of mine put me on to this, which I will be getting for my next desk.

    https://lazymaisons.com.au/collections/standing-desk-frames/…

I know it costs more but we're looking at dual motors, 3 stage, high weight rating.
Someone there claims to have put a full 2200 x 900 on it (huge!) plus 3 stage = goes a bit higher and most importantly for me, goes a bit lower.

Min height is 62, which is great - if I sit with correct foot posture, my 71cm Officeworks Matrix desk is slightly too high considering my feet position, shoulders and arms and I'm 5'8.

I admit I haven't used this but mate spoke of it well. $550 + a nice nice surface at bunnings for 2 or $300 and you end up with an absoloute preemo desk for like $850

    • +1

Wasn't this a 3 stage desk with dual motors?

      • Not sure but it's gone now and I don't know if it's 140KG rated. Heck if it's as preemo as the one I linked, yeah I'd snap it up.

Someone should do a full spec compae.

  • Already got the shipping notification, anyone else?

  • Meh deal. A standing desk frame is $330ish always at retail display direct. I can vouch for there goodness. Lots of cheap sit standing desks out there and this is not one of those.
    https://www.retaildisplaydirect.com.au/adjustable-standing-d…

Or even better, buy it with a top for not much more

    https://www.retaildisplaydirect.com.au/sit-stand-desk/

    • Can you pay for that with discounted Amazon GCs and does it come with cashback + free delivery?

    • $59 delivery makes it less attractive.

  • The 2 stage model is $295.2 Inc delivery after the 20% off box is ticked. White and black available

Stage 2 sucks. Doesn't go low enough

  • What's the difference between 2-stage and 3-stage in this context? Is it just the minimum height?

    • How telescopic the legs are. Two pieces versus three pieces

    • 2 stage doesn't go low enough. It also doesn't go high enough for very tall people.

I'm only 5 foot 8 and my 2 stage is only 2cm from maximum height for me to be correct.

      If you're over 6 foot you'd want a 3 stage

I was looking for another sit stand desk and learnt the price has even higher than when COVID first hit. It used to be dual motor, 3 stage legs and 100kg max load with 160 x 75cm desktop everywhere, and all these only cost you around $350…

Anyways, after seeing this post I went for another search and found this (frame only) for $299 delivered and ordered one. Basic specs:
    * 3 stage legs
    * 60 - 125cm raise range
    * Dual motors
    * 2 racks desk board support instead of one (no idea what it is called)
    * Max. load 100Kg (this is more than enough for WFH setup)

There are also black and grey if you search the sellers other items, or search Ekkio at eBay's home page.

I'm really curious if they're all rebadged of the same product.

I went on a hunt a whole back and found many to seem the same to me. Look identical, almost identical specs only change was weight rating

      • +1

I'm really curious if they're all rebadged of the same product.

That's what I thought. Most likely they are all made by the same factories with minor changes and rebadged for different prices.

      • You'll find that the majority of products on Amazon are, but it doesn't just stop at Amazon. Some are even so bold to take said products, spend some money on marketing a website then sell the same product for a 300% mark-up.

    • 1 vs 5 year warranty
      100 vs 120kg weight limit
      USB-A vs USBA+C charging ports
      36 vs 40mm travel speed

      • Other than 5 yr warranty I personally don't think the other 3 points are "Plus"… Here's why

The motors might be able to lift up to 120Kg but I probably wouldn't risk it because of the frame. This is not just about capability but safety.

For this type of "nice to have" charging port , I'd rather have type A than type C. I have so many USB-A to USB-C charging cable at home from all sort of different devices I bought but I only have one USB-C to USB-C, means type A is more popular than type C.

Travel speed doesn't really bother me though. 60cm travel distance only takes 1.6 sec more, not a day and night difference.

Again only my personal opinion. People may want to pay more for big brand and longer warranty period.

Edit: When I said safety I mean the frame in this post is like "I" shape but the one shared is like "II" shape, which would make the frame much more sturdy.

        • USB-A vs USBA+C

  • Has anyone put wheels on their desks? Saw that in the promotion pictures that the feet will accept an M8 castor wheel. The feet don't look to be very accommodating though

  • Has anyone set this up? Did everything per manual and it just flashes ASE OR ASB when I try hit any of the buttons
