  • Anyone with experience with these?

We have an old OzB favourite zzzAtelier that's starting to hurt a bit. Would replace mattress but Zinus etc seem to mostly be medium firmness only (we are not lightweights, so a firmer mattress is ideal. Usual soft hotel beds are bad for us).

This may be a viable alternative to just make the current one a bit nicer.

Unfortunately price is often not a reliable indicator of quality in mattresses either. So I'll go cheaper and change more frequently.

        • Same with tradies. Expensive != Quality

      • You must pay a huge premium for the air your breah in : )

Sexy time with my wife only lasts for a minute, then she kicks me to the couch.

        • In that case I hope you've got a decent couch!

Agreed but the entire mattress industry is a rort. It's next to impossible to determine comfort and longevity over a period of time and so they get away with it by using cheap materials and having dodgy warranties. There's even no guarantee that the mattress tested in the store are built to the same spec, foam, spring quality as the one you eventually receive. The warranties are usually worth nothing as the condition is often "place a ruler on top of the surface and check for gaps" which means nothing when the foam springs underneath the surface have failed.

    • I can't speak about this particular product, but here's my take on mattress comfort.
I have always had firm mattresses, but as I'm getting on in years, they are no longer comfortable for me. I sleep alone and had a Queen bed. I bought this. It's literally a quilt, but because of Ikea's weird sizing of things, it fits perfectly on top of a Queen bed (200x150cm). I also bought a mattress topper (can't remember what it is or where I got it from) and put that on top of the Ikea thing, and then a mattress protector on that, and then finally a fitted sheet. I sleep like baby. YMMV.

      • Thanks dude.

Yeah firm spring + decent padding seems like the go. Because we aren't light any kind of medium is going to sag pretty quick. But as you say, comfort is definitely required too.

  • Can anyone recommend something with foam or latex in it? Got a fibre/fabric topper recently and its nice but wouldnt mind getting the feel you get from a premium mattress with the foam/latex layer underneath it too.

  • $20 delivery to Perth metro, is this correct?

          • @Zinus Australia: What about Zinus GREEN Queen Double King Single Mattress Chiro Pocket Spring Medium Foam?

          • @Zinus Australia: or this one? Zinus Deluxe Hybrid Innerspring Mattress with Memory Foam Euro

            • +1

@stockastics: This is made with Innersprings which are firmer - This won't have partner disturbance as you need pocket springs for that.

              • @Zinus Australia: Hi rep
Between the two you've suggested as firmer (memory foam and pocket spring, deluxe hybrid innerspring)

For a heavier couple (still <250kg per your suggested limits) is there any huge difference in firmness/resistance to sag? Not worried about partner disturbance, though edge support is good.

Can add extra layers to the innerspring I guess -noted that it has less to start with.

                • @mattman: Hey

Both of these we would say are Medium-Firm, it really comes back to a customer's preference.

                  Option 1 Euro-Top Pocket Spring - 33cm
Pocket Spring, High Density foam Pillow top and Edge Support.

                  Option 2 Hybird
Pocket Spring & High Density Memory Foam, Edge Support.

The basic Innerspring won't offer the best support as they don't have a lot of foam on top

Remember they both come with a 10 Year warranty.

  • The topper is probably suitable for ultra hard cheapo mattresses. I'm guessing it's not going to resolve your issue if your mattress is too soft or starting to sag?

    • Maybe a memory foam topper might help but you're better off replacing the mattress if its sagging.

  • Got one to try out. Seems reasonably priced. Cheers OP
