    365 deals - https://www.koganmobile.com.au/

    100GB - $99
    200GB - $139
    300GB - $149
    500GB - $165

I Believe they need to be activated before the end of Jan

    • +2

I have only used 70% of my 150 GB plan this year. I think I'll settle with 200 GB instead. Although I wish for it to be a little cheaper though….

  • No International Call :(

    • +1

International calls are a paid Add Ons pack per month. It's priced at $5 to $15 per month depending on pack. But if you're only calling say the USA, Canada or the UK then you could get away easily with the $5 pack.

      https://www.koganmobile.com.au/plans/mobile/international-ca…

    • You don't use WhatsApp, Skype or one of the several other options?
I always call OS using WhatsApp and find it perfect, great for either voice or video.

  • This or Boost Mobile?

    • +10

I don't think BOOST will give you the same 500GB per year internet for the same price. Heck they want $300 for 260GB of data on their 12 month mobile phone plan.

    • +3

      Boost does not offer eSIM
Plus data on Kogan is capped …

      • +2

This with e sim for data with boost as your main number for coverage

    • +12

Kogan better value in terms of data provided, but Boost Service is miles better as it is the only provider that provides full untethered access to Telstra network, I believe Kogan is Vodafone.

      • +2

Coverage for Boost/full Telstra can be better but depends on where you are.

        • +3

Telstra coverage is not good where I am at. Strangely, Kogan/Vodafone is much better in My Area.

          • @squall3031: For my home area, I get better coverage with Vodafone also, which is where I use my phone 99% of the time.
It will be different for everyone of course.

            • +2

@SimAus007: Yep depends on where the tower is. I have a Vodafone tower down the street. So telstra is poor for me, Kogan is very good for reception.

    • +2

I'm with Kogan and wife with Boost 500gb vs 200gb. Boost reception is great and adds international calls. Kogan has wifi calling now. I don't have any reception issues in Melbourne Metro. I say I won't renew again, yet I do purely for data size.

    • +8

I've gone from Kogan to boost. Didn't notice any difference.
5G isnt good. Unless you hang near a 5g tower.
Will be going back to Kogan. Cheaper and more data.

  • -1

No international inclusion, no 5g, no esim?, no number share.
    Has decent data, visual voicemail

    • +6

There is eSim option. You can choose it from the drop down menu

    • +2

Kogan does have 5g (albeit if for a trial not sure up to when).

      • +1

It’s not for this plan though. I think it is only for the monthly plan

        • +3

Says 5g is available for the large plan which is the 300gb if im not wrong

    • +2

International Calls and International Roaming are available from optional extra packs.

    • +3

To to correct a couple of your points.
      - No prepaid has number sharing (yet).
      - It does have eSIM.
      - It does have 5G
      - International calling can be added for a small fee, given the price, that's fair, or use WhatsApp and pay nothing.

  • Nice, purchased yesterday as my XL 365 expires Jan 5th.
Swear I looked on kogan mobile Xmas day to see if deal was live again after running out of data.
    Bought a $30 boost for $10 as I couldn't holdout any longer.
Was going to post but noticed the month old post which had ended was edited 20/12/22. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/738669
    Strange.

  • -8

I'm guessing this is optus network since they don't advertise what network is used;as they were recently got hacked lol

  • What network is it? That's a heck of a price.

    • +1

      Vodafone I believe

    • +3

They use vodafone, I was with them for the past 7 years. It's pretty good, honestly.

    • +4

@hamwhisperer They use the Vodafone network

      https://help.koganmobile.com.au/hc/en-au/articles/206805827-…

      • +2

For anyone wondering, the article says that it is limited to "mobile data speeds of up to 16Mbps", which is not true. I've happily pulled 200+Mbps on 4G when close to a tower, whilst I was still on Kogan mobile.

        • +4

The web page was probably written years ago back when it was speed capped and it hadn't been updated.

I'm quite sure unless i'm wrong that Kogan Mobile currently gets full access to the Vodafone 4G mobile network.

        • Agree, I often get 200.to 300Mbps.on 4G with them.

  • The mobile data is so slow on kogan you won't be able to just ask that data even if you try

    • +7

It seems fine here for me. I am a Kogan Mobile customer.

    • +6

Long time Kogan Mobile user - always been fine here, no speed issues.

    • I pulled 300Mbs on Kogan 4G in the NT last few year. Had to change to Boost because the reception wasn't good in remote community where I travelled alot. Even with 5G, I can only get 300Mbs on my lucky day.

    • +3

Not true, you are talking about reception in your area. I recently changed over to Boost Mobile and can’t get any data speed at the local major shopping centre - need to use the wife’s Kogan Mobile service. Every carrier has areas where they are complete crap, you need to choose what works best for you.

  • +3

I think you can use Commbank Card offer to get $15 cash back also

    • Not on my card profile so this sounds targeted?

      • The deal might be only for a cetain credit card. Not debit card.

        • I’ve got the top cba ultimate award black card or whatever it’s called too lol but yeah don’t have it on my profile

        • +1

i had this offer and i am using debit card

    • Thanks man. I didn't notice this until your comment. I have Platinum debit card.

    • Is this the $15 cashback when you spend $100 or more at kogan.com offer? I have it but i don't think it qualifies for the offer. it says cashback not eligible for any kogan essentials products and services including but not limited to kogan mobile…

      • +3

buy gift card first and then use gift card to buy sim plan

        • Thanks.. didn't think of that!

        • The cashback probably excludes the use of gift card redemption through Kogan. You'll have to use the debit or credit card as payment. It's probably how they track the payment to your Commbank account. With a gift card they can't track the payment.

I know for the Bonus Points scheme they exclude the use of Kogan gift cards. So it's probably the same for this cashback. It just doesn't look like Commonwealth Bank likes it.

          https://eshop.commbankawards.com.au/electricals/kogan-com

          • @hollykryten: Use commbank card buy $100 gift card from Kogan.com first to get the $15 cash back, then use gift card to buy prepaid plan

            • @hnxhyz: That may or may not work. At least for the Bonus Points scheme that purchasing gift cards or buying some thing from a gift card through kogan.com is excluded. You don't get any reward.

From this web page which i posted just above.

"Purchases of or redemption of Gift Cards are not eligible for Bonus Points. Purchases made redeeming a gift card and credit together are not eligible for Bonus Points."

              https://eshop.commbankawards.com.au/electricals/kogan-com

Wonder if it might or might not be the same for the cash back offer.

              • @hollykryten: Does not mention excludes gift card

                Eligibility
© You're unable to claim if you use a payment platform such as Afterpay, Zip Pay and PayPal
Cashback offers can only be claimed once
You must spend the required amount in 1 transaction unless stated otherwise
To check eligible cards, go to Settings then Cashback notifications & support
This offer is brought to you by CommBank.
Cashback not eligible for any Kogan Essentials products and services, including but not limited to Kogan Travel, Kogan Internet, Kogan Mobile and Kogan Energy. Offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer. Offer eligible for online payments only.

                • +2

@hnxhyz: It says all Kogan Essentials are excluded and just gave a few examples.

But, Kogan Gift Cards is listed under the Kogan Essentials section on the Kogan web site. It's one of the Kogan Essentials products. And it does say any Kogan Essentials product or services is excluded.

It's the last one of the Kogan Essentials page (Kogan Gift Cards). So there you go Kogan e-Gift Cards are obviously excluded since it's part of Kogan Essentials. Technically it's excluded from the cashback being a Kogan Essentials product. I was right.

                  https://www.kogan.com/au/kogan-essentials/

I don't like your chances of getting a cashback since it's a Kogan Essentials product. I rest my case.

                • +1

@hnxhyz: You can still get this 7% off through this Gift Card deal. At least it's $11.55 off the $165 and is guaranteed to work. Kogan is listed as one of the participating retailers.

                  https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/746744

                  • @hollykryten: Thank you!

                    • @hnxhyz: Yeah i think it must be an online Visa gift card. Only have to enter the Visa card details through checkout.

  • +1

Do they have this deal ongoing or just a special around this time? Maybe a targeted question for people that have this sim or use this deal as wanted to know what do you do after 1 year is nearly up - would kogan over the same deal again?

I know it’s pre paid but just want to avoid having to churn to another provider if I can just stick with kogan coz of the huge data and if I like voda then I just stick with kogan mobile

  • Can anyone who just bought this co firm if they're adding extra gb?

I bought the 300gb maybe 2 months ago but I ended up getting 500gb, there was nothing advertised at the time about extra gigs.

    • I got 512gb total, and bought the 500gb plan. For my sister, she got the 130gb plan (unavailable now) but got 150gb of data. Seems like they are adding a bit

    • They gave me 550gb from day one on the 500gb plan. Nothing was said that any extra data would be given. So nice surprise

  • Is Kogan eSim workds on Apple watch 7? Or which eSim support Apple Watch? Thanks!

    • +1

There is no standalone esim for Apple Watch. You need to get a sim on phone and pair a watch plan with any of the big threes.

      • Sad!

    • +1

Kogan(Vodafone) doen't support mobile plan for watch. So I don't think you can use this offer if you are planning to use this for Apple/Samsung watch with LTE

  • I've noticed there's this odd wake time for data.

Not sure if that's just my device or their network but I have this 500gb plan on a second phone and have been unable to use 20gb of it… whenever I need it for video calls its awesome but mymaccas and 7-11 fuel apps etc think they dont have the internet.

  • +1

Just recharged my data 3 days ago, if u recharge with this early, does it start automatically after this month, or it starts instantly?

    • +2

It starts instantly so best to save it for the last day of your current plan. The voucher expires end of Jan though

  • +1

Question on anyone who have used eSIM before.
Currently I have a Pixel 7 and my plan expires sometime in January. I purchased this and chose eSIM.
The email I received is showing a new number if I choose to have a new number, however I would like to transfer my current number to the eSIM. I know activating on Kogan website from SIM to another SIM is available for keeping your current number, but they don't make it clear if its possible going from SIM to eSIM and keeping your number.

I just want to know if anyone has done this and kept their number while going to eSIM?

    Thanks for any replies.

    • +4

Yes you can switch your number to esim. Switched from telstra to kogan.

      • Thank (profanity), like a true OzBargainer I ended up buying it because I just assumed this would be the case. Can’t believe it’s not cleared up on their website.

How did you go about doing this? I plan on activating near the end of the January when my current data expires.

        • They will send you the bar code on your email. You can just add the esim thru the barcode.

        • When you set up the esim it asks if you want to port your number, you tick a box and put in your current number, pick if it’s a prepaid (ours weee prepaid) or post paid number and than a few minutes later it’s all set up. It’s been one of the easiest phone set ups I have done.

  • Tis a good deal.

  • +4

The option to cap at 42GB per 30 days is a nice touch.

    • Wondering if unused data rolls over though?

      • I tried to find info on this and was unsuccessful.

      • +4

Dont think it does. When signing up you have the option to have all the data whenever you want over the year, or have a set amount per month with no rollover.

        • +1

For people has little idea what's going on, best to go with monthly allocation.

My old man used 140GB/365 in less than 3 months. Guess what? He will be using my mum's WiFi for the next 9 months. :D

  • Thanks. I bought 2 for 2 kids.

  • +4

For those playing at home, get an extra 7% off with the Ultimate eGift card promo from this deal brings it to $153.45 or ~$12.80 per month.

If extra keen and have access, get yourself a $1 30GB Student plan from the UNiDAYS deal, apparently there is a trick to getting the link to work.

You can potentially get 13 months with 542GB (they actually give you 512GB for the XL plan + 30GB for 1st month) for $154.45 or ~$11.90 a month.

    • +1

      Hi Mate,
I never been to kogan. So just asking can I activated the esim for XL plan and than add the student sim that you said? Or I have to do vice versa?
      Thanks

      • +2

Hi Donask, if you have access to the $1 plan, you would activate that plan first on eSIM and then recharge it with the yearly plan before or on the 31st Jan.

        • Thanks. I just purchased 1 dollar plan from unidays. Its a physical sim plan. Now I will order this one and first activate 1 dollar one and then add this voucher. Hopefully, I am doing accordingly to your suggestion and will be getting 13 months of plan.
          Thanks again

    • 7% off gift cards doesn't seem to work anymore :(

  • +1

Beware, found Kogan have blocked activating a new SIM. Tried another but blocked aswell. This leaves the plan I purchased unused.

    • +1

      What do you mean please?

      • Activation get stuck on entering personal details. These details are now bound to that SIM, so trying again later doesn't work either. Having activated a few SIMS here and there over the years with them, never had a problem until the last couple of months. Couldn't be bothered with contacting their CS, however if someone else does would be interested to know whats going on with this issue.

        • +4

i just encountered this problem w/ entering incorrect details which the system accepted - msg appeared saying you can't change personal details and to ring customer service. I rang cust service on 1300 056 426 and waited for abt 10mins. service rep answered and reset the activation. I waited a few mins then redid the activation and it worked fine after.

    • Interested to know about this as well. Have you contacted Kogan Mobile support team?

  • I live in a small apartment with my wife. Thoughts on using something like this to replace NBN service? I find NBN is good, but it's expensive and maybe not worth it for what we do…

    • It could work. Depends on how good Vodafone reception is in your apartment, how much data you use (some folks go through more than 500GB a month), and whether latency is important to you (for games etc)

    • Thoughts on using something like this to replace NBN service?

Not sure if this was your question but I’ve been using various 4G services for broadband since 2017. It’s an inexpensive alternative to NBN that frequently delivers significantly better speeds than NBN plans.

All this obviously depends on your reception but if you find you get reasonable reception on Vodafone where you are I’d say there’s not much reason to hesitate.

  • So I can select eSim and hold off activating until closer to 30th January?

    • +2

Yes vouchers purchased expire 31/1/2023, so activate on or before that day.

  • So we need to activate by 31st Jan 2023?

  • Does Kogan offer 5g ?

    • Yes for the time being, it's on trial until June 2023 on the large plans.

  • What is a e sim and how does it work. I purchased a yearly prepaid plan with Optus ($150), have had nothing but trouble, two weeks later and have a phone that has only just been able to receive calls but has not credit on it (Optus have been no help and keep hanging up or transferring me, once for 5 hours). If I buy this deal with an e sim will I be able to use it straight away.

    • +1

What is a e sim and how does it work

It depends on your phone as to whether or no you can use it.

iPhones for eg from (I think) the Xs on can use esims. You’ll get a QR code which enables you to activate that plan on your phone without needing a physical sim.
