Should Free to Air Programs Be Classified as Deals?

There has been a deal posted recently about the Australian open matches being shown on 9Now.

Should these kind of deals be considered as deals and worthy of posts on OzBargain?

Why on earth do some people care? The information might be helpful to some people and everyone else can just scroll past it. Perhaps people should put it in as a forum post rather than a deal.

Not commenting on if they are deals but…

This deal is more than what is on FTA TV, now this was just FTA TV

personally i think tennis & free to air tv are both shit so negatory

    • Lol

  • Speaking of free-to-air "deals". What happened to Nine's Summer of Bond? I was taping the movies each night and then a week before Christmas they stopped. Are they ever coming back? Not even TVTonight.com.au has covered this.

Kids these days will never know the love of a mum who would tape Friday and Saturday night movies while you were out with friends. And if you had an awesome mum, she'd even pause recording during ad breaks.

  • I suggested an FYI category be used so people can just turn it off if they don’t like it.

Would be for things like back when toilet paper/masks/RATs were hard to find but people were putting deals up because they were available.

Sure… I mean “free” movies on paid subscription services get posted as deals all the time, you know, because they are “free”…

If it saves someone from eg. paying to subscribe to Stan Sport, why not?

  • But wheres the deal?

  • +2

FTA deals and movies/shows being added to subscription services belong in the forums. Maybe create a sticky forum thread and anyone interested can post/view those threads?
As others have mentioned, what's next the news being listed as a deal?

  • Front Bar, Front Bar, Front Bar

  • The votes say it all, really

If the community didn't like it, it wouldn't hit the front page. Same as the Qatar World Cup deal post

  • Could scotty give us an option to toggle off free to air and new streaming releases for Ozbargain.

Except there is an option to hide new streaming deals, yet instead people choose to bitch about it

Users who wish to Block "Additions to Streaming Services" can do so by clicking on the Streaming Service Addition tag, then clicking the 3 dot menu, then clicking hide on new deals and/or front page. Ensure that on the home page, the new front page is selected for customisation to show. Video Instructions here or More info here.

Wouldn't be that hard to do similar for FTA though

Thanks, didn't know this was an option. Would be great if we could get the same for free to air.

    • Is that not a built in feature of every user ….
