keen to hear some user experience feedback

    • an offcut of 90x45 mgp10 pine works better.
The ROM flashed on this is borked.

Bought as a Christmas present for my 10 year old and I'm pretty impressed. Nice looking and lightweight tablet, much better than the 4/32gb Samsung Tab A 10.1 (2019) that she had. Everything loads very quickly in comparison.
The global rom it came with was terrible, just an absolute casserole! Spent about an hour or so flashing the original Chinese ZUI rom and then debloated and changed language to English. I haven't relocked the bootloader as yet so it is stuck on Widevine L3, however, she doesn't have Netflix on it so it's not an issue yet. The camera isn't great but maybe another camera app may help improve that.
We bought the Precision Pen 2 locally to go with it.
Overall, considering it came with a case and screen protector, we're very happy for roughly $260 delivered. Came much sooner than they'd estimated too which was a bonus

      • I'm interested in learning more about this, and this device - alas, I would be a complete noob if I were to attempt to flash a phone or tablet ROM, and locking/unlocking bootloaders might as well be Greek to me, (I see there's a warning on the website about security with the unlocked bootloader it ships with!).

Could you recommend any links for guides to getting started, please?

        • Hi, not sure I could post a direct link but if you were to search "xiaoxin pad 2022 XDA" it should take to the guide I found. It's very simple to do. Afterwards, official OTA updates become available.

All things considered this a pretty decent device for the money.

  • Did the price just drop?

    • +1

No, the price in the title is with GST (per OzB guidelines), and the one on AliEx is without.
