  • I have the 9020dabs, can't recommend it highly enough.

    • It's a banger of a unit isn't it?!

  • I have a Pioneer P99RS and still think nothing comes close

    • They don't make them like they used to in terms of that level! There's been so much innovation and tech input in this space, it's gone from audio perfection to whole car and driver integration with great sound. But the DEX series was definitely something else - I mean a 31-band EQ in a single din!? Almost unthinkable now days.

  • I got the Pioneer DMH-Z5350BT in a second hand car I just bought and it's a great unit for the lower end of the price range.

  • Any discount on XAV-9500ES?

    • +1

Unfortunately, that product isn't being given to retailers. That's a Sony AU only product.

  • Incredibly price on the DMH-Z6350BT. Hard to get a branded wireless Android Auto unit so cheaply. Had this installed in my wife's car a year ago. Everything "just works" when she gets in. Sound quality good too.

    • That's one of our ace up the sleeve offers we held onto for Boxing Day. Great price, gorgeous unit.

    • Looks like it has been replaced with the DMH-A5450BT with wireless functionality, and is a 'tier' lower, which can be had for ~$550. OP, any reason to go for this older model? Standard 4 speaker system, no amp.

      • +1

The DMH-A5450BT is not a replacement for the DMH-Z6350BT. The A-series is a budget friendly series. The Z is the 6.8” version of the 9” flagship the DMH-ZF9350BT. The DMH-Z6350BT is a better unit in every way compared to the A-series.

        • Where does the SPH-DA360DAB fit in?

  • Dang, cracking prices. Very keen to grab something to upgrade my 08 GTI, was considering the xav1000 but these prices… Lol

  • Hi there, which of these would you recommend for compatibility with a 2017 Ford Focus RS (i.e. keeping stock features such as included reverse camera/sensors, steering wheel controls, etc)? I am thinking of changing mine out as the stock Sync 3 headunit skips in music sometimes and it's frustrating… I have heard of something called "Maestro" which may be needed but last I checked those products were not proven/tested on the Australian market RS'. Thanks in advance! :)

    • +3

That's right mate, with the Ford Sync3 (and any Sync systems), we're hesitant to replace as you loose the ability to change a lot of the factory settings. Maestro is something that's coming through the Australian market through higher-end Kenwood units (Pioneer's getting one in early 2023), but yes, at the moment, the development and implementation of it is slow. When it works, it's great, but until iDatalink (they make Maestro) or Aerpro release something specific for the Sync3, or RS, you might be best off waiting?

  • Pioneer DMH-ZF9350BT or Alpine ILX-F509A?

I prefer the rounded look of the Alpine.

    • Not sure how to respond, or what to do with this… I'd say that the Alpine is more comparable to the Kenwood DMX9720XDS than the Pioneer. In which case, the Kenwood wins hands down every day of the week. Also, at $1,295 during this sale, it's an insane price and a mental opportunity. BUT, a high-end stereo purchase is a very personal one and if you're happier with the Alpine, then that's for you.

      • Thanks, the Kenwood looks good but is very pricey!

Is there a reason you guys don't stock Alpine?

Just placed my order for DMH-Z6350BT, good reviews and a great price, thanks BankstownSound.

DIY users, if you are not sure(which is highly likely) what exactly you will need to complete your installation feel free to give them a call. Spoke to the wonderful staff they helped me with all the other items.

Usually, these will be the items (I am not an expert, do your own research).
    1. Facia compatible with your car
    2. Harness adapter (something which will bridge the connection between the new head unit and your car's existing cables)
    3. Steering wheel adapter (will help you reuse buttons on your steering/steering column in case of my car)
    4. antenna adapter

    • +1

Thanks for the feedback and you're right. 90% of the time, a car will need a facia kit, a steering wheel control harness and an antenna adaptor.

    • +1

I made a purchase this morning. The staff were very helpful. They didn't have the steering wheel harness that I needed on the website and they added it when I called them.

  • What is good for a ford mondeo 2016 model?

  • I'm interested in the DMH-Z6350BT to replace the stock Blaupunkt in a 2004 VYII Commodore, but apparently I also need a FP9056GK kit according to the Aerpro site, which isn't showing up in search?

  • Hey guys got an aftermarket android headunit already for my 06 estima, looking to upgrade to another android hu or hu with android auto/apple carplay, any suggestions?? Currently on an 9inch setup

    Also @BankstownSoundMarinehow much for installation??

  • Decisions!

Kenwood DMX5020S - 1yr warranty, Price! Though not sure on its performance/responsiveness. can't find much info
Sony XAV-AX5500 - 3yr warranty, Has physical buttons and 2x usb which is nice
Pioneer DMH-A5450BT - 1yr warranty, Wireless Android auto but no physical buttons.

Hmm not sure which way to go

  • I'm looking to replace a stock head unit but I have an aversion to glossy screens. From what I can gather Sony head units have a more matte/anti-glare finish than Pioneer and Kenwood. Is that correct?

  • Has anyone received an update on their purchases? I have not heard anything after I made the purchase
