    $29 with JB HiFi Perks

  • There isnt a track editor in this is there?

  • Is this ready to play yet or is it still like a freemium game?

    • +4

Has always been ready to play

    • +6

GT7 is an extremely good game. It has over 450 cars heaps of detailed tracks. The grind, for me atleast, is part of the fun. I usually play a gran Turismo game periodically for years. Also if you have a specific car you want it's not that difficult or time consuming to save up to buy it.

  • I keep buying games I don't play.

Is it worth it? It'd be cheap with JB

    • +2

Depends if you like racing games. It does it well

  • Is split screen 2 player available?

    • +2

      Yep has been since launch

    • Barely. There are still issues with split screen mode and it doesn’t look like polyphony are fixing it anytime soon.

      • +1

        yeah its broken since launch

there's car performance differences between player 1 and 2 and the options for either player is broken

  • Does the PS4 version provide an upgrade to ps5

    • +1

      It's a paid upgrade.

  • Easiest game in the GT series to get platinum too.

    • GT6 was quicker and easier. No online trophies either.

      • +1

Oh really? I found this one super easy. But ok! I’ll get out GT6 again as I can’t remember.

  • +1

I think I have played 10hrs of this, bit of a grind.

  • +6

had it since launch, pretty much a repeat of GT Sport in terms of the lack of single player content being a bit of a joke and i felt pretty stung with the lack of many features that made the series great, but that said they've released new stuff every month and will continue too and it's gotten much better. some of the decisions and lack of content in terms of career mode and more varied races, is really just a huge disappointment because the actual graphics & physics are really solid. at this price its a no brainer tho, theres plenty of value in there for that price…

the primary downside is the in-game economy is messed up. each circuit has a "circuit experience" you can do, where you have to get a gold time in each sector and also an overall gold laptime for around $1mil credits. overall they're fun and a good way to learn the game, so mastering all the "circuit experiences" could net you potentially $40-50mil which is a good chunk, but a) thats a lot of work & not super easy, especially without a wheel and if you're new and b) beyond that the credits are REALLY stingy… the economy just makes zero sense and theres a whole section of the games content subject to utterly insane low statistical chance RNG. theres enough money to get solid workhorse cars to use & go online, but it's just a horrible grind beyond that…

if you're one of these ocd types who will want to unlock everything, it would be an insane grind. talking like ~450 cars and about $500mil of credits to get em all. a bunch of the "legend" cars cost $20mil a pop. the quickest you can currently earn credits is about $1.6m per hour (doing the same race track over and over, no thanks)… but there are bots you can run over remote play, that will generate around $1m per hour. it's not for everyone, but honestly if it wasn't for that i would have abandoned the game long ago somewhat annoyed at paying full price. now you can leave a bot doing runs overnight and wake up with $10mil. it's let me get most of the stuff i wanted, to have some actual fun with the game. keep that in mind, there is a solution to the idiotic in-game economy which these idiot developers most likely will never fix….

    • +4

      i would echo this

i had it since launch too and really, unless you're a long time Gran Turismo addict this is a bullshit game

there's effectively only a handful of events that pay decent money and you have cars that are $10 mil. $20 mil.

where at most you win $800k for 30 mins

few people want to grind the same race day after day to get money

then there's the shit like invitiations to buy cars… that you can only win on the jackpot system

then there's engine swaps… that you can only win on the jackpot system

then there's the infaltion on various cars, because, screw the player… eg. a Porsche 911 GT1 has gone up from $3 mil to $9 mil.

and there's the fixes they only made once people complained

also online race wins get you shit all money (ie. $60,000)

there's also game events that you complete… by buying cars…. wtf

you buy 3 cars, you get a jackpot ticket. that's the whole mechanic

the sad thing is the game engine is solid… it looks great, and you do get FHD 60 fps even on a base ps4… but they chose to make a terrible game

      • +2

i rkn i could fix it over night.

        1) entirely revamp the economy… double all current rewards at least eg. online races give you $120k and above just for showing up, and in most situations 3-4x them…you should realistically be able to get around $3mil per hour of your race time from the events where you are concentrating for 20-30mins on racing…
        2) add in more group race content and proper career mode content… add in more varied viable 20-30minute races with solid payouts, currently theres like 2…
        3) hagerty price flux is an insult, but i could live with it if a) the credits were more plentiful & b) they added in more niche races for the cars that cost so much eg. legend races… you currently buy legend cars for multiple-millions and theres nothing to even do with them… lol.
        4) scrap invite cars, and scrap the reward system for parts entirely, they should just be available to buy… the daily reward tickets should be exactly that, a reward, and be solely for a random credit or car bonus only… just throw people between $50k and a million in credits, and a chance to win certain cars, and make the RNG payout much higher…. currently you get the worst item 99 times out of 100.

whoever made the decisions on the games economy is a complete effing idiot who deserves a kick in the balls. foreal. aside from some dev time on keying in more events/career content, all of those things are just logical things to do with the economy that isn't spitting in the face of the player expecting them to spend their life playing the game, and it'd honestly make it the best GT of all time pretty clearly, and funnel more people into playing, and in turn playing online….

it's frustrating because it just seems so obvious, but someone at polyphony has their heads up their asses. aside from that, the game just needs to double down on adding content, like a focus on more newer cars rather than 600 nissan GTR's, and redoing loads of content from the past games like past tracks… especially ones with specific events, like pikes peak.

        • +1

yep i mean its all common sense stuff

they chose not to do these things because Sony is paying the bills and they need payback… at $20 for $2 mil. in game credits

this 3 cars a month DLC plus a track every 2nd month is super shit too

what i feel aggreived about is how little they value your playing time

how is a 2 lap n600 Nurburgring race where you start last worth $25,000??? for 20 mins of your time???

i dont do these low paying events on principal

  • The game is amazing, it's probably too realistic for me lol

  • +3

I would love to buy this and even to buy a set of driving simulators… but the reviews here stopped me… simply no time to grind and no way I would pay for in game purchase..

    • +1

the only way i would recommend this game is if you've been in the Gran Turismo universe since GT3/4 and are used to the dumb way they do their economy…

      • +2

I've been playing since the original game, 100% finished the first 3 games. When GT4 came out I was tiring of car games (both arcade and simulation), never finished that or GT 5. Skipped GT 6 entirely and purchased GT Sport when it was only $20 not long after it's release.

GT 7 was the main motivation in getting a PS5 console. I was wary about the comments (lack of content, having to grind to earn more $$$ etc). Still pounced when I saw the digital version was cheaper. And after a month and a bit… I don't regret it.

I haven't found it to be super grindy as yet, most of the car rewards you get from winning races can be repurposed to help you win other races. I think the first $200,000 you make takes a while, after that the money can roll in. I'm hovering at the 2.2 million mark right now, it can drop back to 2.1 or 1.9 million depending on what I buy at the auto shop. I've nearly completed the "career" mode

        • +2

Nice! Similar story, I played GT3 and GT4 then Sport mostly. Sounds like I need to put a few more hours into it.

          • @mrsinistah: Mileage will vary, everyone's taste is different. For example I find the GT series more fun to play than Forza on Xbox, while others love what Forza presents (in fairness I like the cars and the driving of Forza, but the menus and championship layouts annoys me lol).

I haven't gotten to the point in GT 7 that others are talking about (needing millions for super cars). I'll get to that point soon I guess.

My biggest complaint so far for GT 7 is the reward/wheel spins - 95% of the time you get the lowest reward possible (yay $5000 lol). Oh and occasionally you'll need to redo races that you think your car will do well in only to be behind the pack by 15-30 seconds (that amount of time is fine when your car can make up the time). Go back and select another car, that smashes the AI by 20-30 seconds by the end of the race.

  • It is a bit annoying you gotta be online to play too, even for $29 I'm 50/50.

I just know I won't play it much, seem to have less time for gaming these days.
