Oh damn great find! Definitely some trade-offs with the enamel handle, but amazing value for $50.

    • Sorey, I probably just missed it, but where does it say enameled handle? (Or you just know from experience that it has one?)

Is that why it says for flash use only in the oven (less than 10min)? I guess that would make sense.

      Cheers!

Yeah it's the oven bit, that's what they're referring to.

Haha apparently you can remove the coating if you put it through a pyrolic oven cycle =P

But wanted to show the bit where it wears a tad over time: https://i.imgur.com/wZtio5n.jpg

Looks like Mineral B Pro range is all carbon steel. May have to look for one of those!

@caprimulgus: These are still all carbon steel. The handle is just coated for some reason. And at $50 they're a steel (hehe).

The pro is a tad more expensive. Worth looking at the solidtechnics stuff if you're spending more, made in Australia too which is nice, but unfortunately I don't see them on sale like these de buyer ones.

            • @incipient: I've got 3 or 4 Solidteknics pans, two are cast iron from their earlier Kickstarters. They have gone a bit kookey of late in my opinion - their pricing is through the roof. They seem to be targetting cashed up / upmarket buyers. I was subscribed to their Kickstarter campaigns and the last 4 or so I've seen are ridiculously expensive. Their new knives look nice though, but again, $$$.

I love the cast iron ~23cm pan I have of theirs, use it daily. But Lodge make something almost the same, I'd recommend that.

I also have a De Buyer crepe pan which I love. I'm looking at 'upgrading' one of my large ~30cm Solidteknics skillets to a De Buyer, a bit lighter and easier to deal with.

@caprimulgus: The whole pan is carbon steel, the handle is just coated so it doesn't get hot and is more protected from rusting.
If you do put in the oven for too long the coating on the handle will soften and come off leaving you with a discoloured handle but not damaged or unusable.

            • @Quickshot: Yeah, sorry I hust meant non-coated handle. (According to the comments on the link above, someone said the Pro has stainless handle, more suited for oven use.)

But yeah, I dont think i mind a discoloured handle, so non-pro might be ok. Cheers.

Good brand good price. But not designed for Chinese stir fry. I owned a 32cm miner B wok. Too heavy, hard to lift it up by one hand. Too thick, takes longer to heat up.

  • De bruyne

  • Good price! De Buyer mineral b are really good.

Surprising this cheap given that KW are usually always more expensive than many other places.

Steel is carbon plus iron. Funny they said lifetime warranty but you cant even wash it with gauze mesh.

    • For anyone wondering, you don't scrub it with anything abrasive because you will damage the seasoning. The pan itself will be perfectly fine.

  • thanks OP, picked up a country pan 32cm

  • Thank OP. Picked up a Country pan and Wok seperately to utilise the $20 new user voucher.

    • What's the new user voucher?

  • Thanks OP! Was looking for for carbon steel cookware on their site just yesterday.
